Meeting Friends: There's an App for That

Sorry for the 2 week hiatus from blogging. My iPhone blog app has frozen on me and deleted this post TWO TIMES! I was frustrated so it took me a while to retype it. I finally realized i should back it up just in case. Third time's a charm!

In September 2010, when i found out I was pregnant again, I downloaded this app called BabyBump. The app tracks all things related to your pregnancy: weight gain, doctor visits, symptoms, etc. It also has a forum section! I joined one forum for all moms whose babies would be born in September 2011. After a while of talking on this forum, a few of us decided to start a group on Facebook so we could share photos and make it more personable.

I'm sorry this is last month's news! I promise to add more pictures soon. I am in the process of a big update post of this past month, but it's been so crazy with 2 kids. It's hard to find a solid chunk of time. If you are impatient, find me on Facebook because I have been adding pictures every week.

I'm in love with this little bug!

38 Weeks!

Yep, I am still pregnant. Tomorrow I will be 38 weeks. I can't believe I am at the tail end of this pregnancy already, it seems like it has gone really fast. And in some ways it has gone really slow!

7 Months Preggo

This weekend, I will officially be 7 months pregnant (on July 3, I will have exactly 2 more months left). I now have doctor visits every 2 weeks. During the last visit, my doctor did an ultrasound and we discovered the baby was breech frank (meaning it was head up, feet by head). During this visit, however, the baby had turned to the normal head-down, feet up, position. You would think I would have felt such a movement?? I am so glad she turned on her own, hopefully for the last time! And everything else is great too. I am feeling more pregnant and uncomfortable. It's almost impossible to paint my own toenails. I have to sneeze with my legs crossed (sorry, TMI). And I need a nap most days. But thankfully, my face and feet haven't started swelling too much like they did last time. Not yet anyway :)

I am curious, who of you have had/considered a natural birth? I hesitated posting about this because usually when I tell people I want to try to go natural, people either ask, "WHY??" like I'm some masochist, or say, "good luck," like it's an impossible undertaking that has never been done before.

Let's just say I have my reasons. I have been considering going natural since before I was even pregnant with this baby. I got to see my sister go thru almost all of it last month and it would be an amazing experience to try to do it myself. With Mariah, it was far from natural: I was induced and had an epidural. This time around I will try to be patient and let the baby come on her own and see how far I can get without any meds.

Any natural birth advice for me??

Trip to the ER

I know people want a follow-up since my last post, so here's what's been going on with the possible miscarriage and such (possible TMI warning).

Little Scare

Everyone came to visit and Mariah felt left out so she decided to play with the cord! Her heart rate kept dropping with every contraction and the doctor was worried there was an issue with the umbilical cord. He is having Veronica on extra oxygen and made her get into some acrobatic positions for Mariah to change position or for the cord to move in a different place. Everything looks to be back on track now and we have restarted the pitocin. But your prayers would be appreciated.

Lots of Down Time

Things are still looking great. The epidural is awesome, highly recommend it! Now I'm just sitting and waiting for myself to progress more. The nurse checked me at 12:45 and I was 5 cm and 80% effaced. She said that once I'm 100% effaced, I should start progressing a cm an hour. Right now, contractions are 2-3 minutes apart and pretty potent. Thankfully I don't feel them anymore!

Epidural is In

Ouch! Veronica just got her epidural placed. She is taking a nap now. Morphine makes you sleepy.

Read to Go!

The doctor just started Veronica on pitocin and broke her water. He says we're likely to have a baby by 6:00 tonight!!

On the Way to the Hospital

Were a little stressed because were running late to get there! We are delivering at American Fork Hospital.

Veronica Off Bedrest

Thankfully, the torture only lasted a week. Veronica was re-evaluated for pre-eclampsia and her blood pressure was rechecked and was below the caution line. She was taken off bedrest but isn't allowed to go back to work. So now she gets to practice being housewife for a few weeks before baby arrives.

Veronica is on Bed Rest

On Friday, I went into the doctor's because I was concerned about my swollen feet not going down with elevation, like my doctor said they would. The nurse checked my blood pressure and it had increased from 102/80 to 130/80 in two weeks! Usually an increase in blood pressure combined with swollen feet indicate pregnancy-induced hypertensia (PIH), or preeclampsia or toxemia, which they are thinking I might develop. This condition doesn't necessarily harm the baby, but it could mean bad news for me in labor and delivery.

The on-call doctor (my doctor was out of town) put me on modified bed rest to prevent any more influx to my blood pressure. He said he wanted to get me at least through the next few weeks until I am full-term at 37 weeks. I can't go walking, go shopping, work, or even do major household chores. He even said I had to quit my job cold-turkey after I got back from my appointment because he didn't want me doing anything else for the rest of the day.

So now I am stuck at home at least for the rest of this week. I have a regularly scheduled appointment on Friday with my real doctor to see if he has a different opinion. I am sure they will check my blood pressure again to see if the bed rest has done any good. Either I will get off bed rest or I will stay on till I can have the baby. Since I am already almost 36 weeks, the doctor might choose to induce me at 37 weeks just to prevent labor complications.

I could have this baby in a week and a half!!

We're Having a Baby!

Uh oh! We got a plus sign! ...And then we took 3 more tests, just to make sure.

We decided to start trying after being married for a year. The timing was perfect with life and school: it was either now...or in 5 years. We chose now and then were pleasantly surprised our first month of trying. We are so excited to be starting a little family. Hope everything goes well in the pregnancy!
