Loser Named 2012 NRSC Vice Chair

Press release:
National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Chairman U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) today announced that businesswoman and civic leader Carly Fiorina will join the organization as a Vice Chair for the 2012 election cycle.
Serving alongside Cornyn and NRSC Vice Chairman U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Fiorina will amplify Senate Republicans’ focus on healing America’s troubled economy, and assist with the NRSC’s crucial fundraising efforts in support of a Republican majority in the U.S. Senate.
“I’m pleased to welcome my friend Carly Fiorina to the NRSC team . . .

Is This For Real? Sen. John Cornyn Approached Joe Scarborough To Run For Senate?

Gadzooks, it might not be a joke after all:

The genius who picked Charlie Crist over Marco Rubio is back to his old tricks in the Sunshine State.

Sen. John Cornyn (Texas), who heads the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), told The Hill on Thursday that he has talked to Scarborough a couple times about a Senate bid. And he indicated he’s still working on persuading the MSNBC host to run for the upper chamber.
“I’d be delighted to talk to him a third time,” Cornyn said.

Just what the Republicans need. Another Senator who will capitulate his own side in order to 'work across the isle'.

UPDATE: Clarification is called for. It wasn't Florida but New York Cornyn talked to Scarborough about.

Cornyn's Baby Betrays Florida... with OUR money!

Charlie Crist, trailing Mark Rubio  in the Florida GOP polls, is expected to announce his decision to run as an independent for the US Senate... with the money provided for him by GOP donors through the RNC and NRSC.

Michael Steele and John Cornyn once again have chosen to continue their vendetta against their own party membership rather than the Democratic Party majority in DC.  Between them, these two idiots could not score a hooker in Tijuana or crack in a Compton City Council meeting, let alone hand pick GOP candidates for us.

Cornyn to conservatives: Screw you!

The NRSC Chairman says it is not "realistic" to try to elect conservatives to the Senate:
Sen. John Cornyn (Texas), the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), suggested that conservatives need to have a more realistic sense of which races are winnable and with which candidates.
"Folks on the right . . . have to yield to the world as it is and not necessarily how they wish it would be," Cornyn told Reuters for a story about centrist Rep. Mike Castle's (R) bid for Senate next year in Delaware.
But Florida is not Delaware, is it, Senator? With 2010 shaping up as a good year for Republicans, the candidate with the "R" beside his name is a contender, and in every single race where the NRSC's influence has been exercised, it has favored bland "moderates" like Castle, a worthless fossil from the Gerald Ford era.

It's the same deal in California and Florida, and also in Nevada, where the "establishment" candidate is the former GOP state chairwoman whose chief achievement is running the state party into the ground. By backing the failed politics and failed politicians of yesterday, the NRSC is forfeiting the future.

NRSC Now Interferes in Colorado Primary

Thanks to John Hawkins of Right Wing News for alerting us to this Denver Post article by Lynn Bartels:
The chairman of the Colorado Republican Party says he plans to inform a national GOP group today that it created a "backlash" by registering two domain names for potential U.S. Senate candidate Jane Norton.
Dick Wadhams pointed to a rash of e-mails during the weekend among Colorado Republicans who are upset with the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which they believe is playing favorites in the crowded 2010 primary field. . . .
One e-mail was written by Le Moine Dowd and distributed by Scott Starin, chairman of the Boulder County Republican Party. The subject line reads, "Send this to every Republican you know."
She wrote that the "the endorsement of Jane Norton by the NRSC is essentially a deathblow for all other candidates."
"Do we want the NRSC deciding our candidate? Does this action by the NRSC make the primary election irrelevant? Does it make the Colorado Republican Party irrelevant?" she asked. . . .READ MORE HERE
Also be sure to read the rest of the column where John Hawkins explains that the NRSC has also been meddling in the California GOP primary.

Any reader in Colorado wondering "what can I do?" should phone the Colorado State GOP at (303) 758-3333 or send an e-mail to State Party Chairman Dick Wadhams. Tell the state party officials you support their stand against the NRSC's illegitimate interference in Republican primaries.

The entire point of NOT ONE RED CENT is to defend the right of Republican grassroots voters to choose their own candidates without being stomped on by the clueless idiots at GOP-HQ in Washington who have been running the Republican Party into the ground. Don't let anybody in D.C. tell you who to vote for.

However, it's about time conservative grassroots asked themselves whether the NRSC's support of any Republican candidate in a contested primary should be considered the political Kiss Of Death. Hasta la vista, Jane Norton!

Contract With America Signed for Rubio!

Via NRO:

Dick Armey, former House Majority Leader and co-author of the Contract With America, has endorsed Marco Rubio over Charlie Crist in the Florida GOP primary, challenging Crist's premature endorsement by Senator Cornyn and the NRSC:

"Marco Rubio is a champion of freedom and an inspiring leader for the next generation of the conservative movement. His track record and conservative convictions are a breath of fresh air in a party looking for new leaders to advance the principles of limited government, lower taxes and economic liberty. With Democrats now possessing a 60-seat filibuster-proof Senate majority, the last thing America needs is another vote for a second round of stimulus waste, additional burdens on taxpayers, cap-and-trade schemes and liberal judges. Marco Rubio will be a ray of sunshine in Washington and provide Floridians with the type of principled, visionary leadership they deserve.”

Comrade Charlie

Via Memeorandum

The Club for Growth has named May’s finalists for their “Comrade of the Month” award, lo and behold, look who the first named finalist is:

"FL GOV. CHARLIE CRIST: Crist signed a no-tax pledge when he was running for governor of Florida a few years ago. Now, as the state's top elected official, he has proceeded to break that very pledge by signing a tax hike into law last week as part of the state budget. But Crist didn't stop there. Earlier this week, he signed another tax hike...this time a 20% tax increase on businesses. Crist sure is some "Republican."

Yep, the NRSC’s go to guy in the Florida Republican Senate primary is in the running for Comrade of the Month! Sen. Cornyn must be so proud. If he wins this prestigious award, and as a Floridian I’m sure pulling for him, maybe we will see his ‘honor’ highlighted in a campaign ad. Something along the lines of “Vote for Comrade Charlie Crist. He’s even to the left of Kendrick Meek.”

Now that I’ve gotten my snark on, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Crist’s co-finalists:

REPS. HENRY WAXMAN and ED MARKEY, for their outstanding work on Cap and Trade. (details)

REP. JOHN MURTHA, for his thirty-five year record of wasting the taxpayer’s money while lining his own pockets (details)

UNKNOWN SAN FRANCISCO BUREAUCRAT, for screwing a homeless man out of the money he had saved to get an apartment ( details)

Well it’s a tough field but there can only be one winner. Let’s all think a happy thought for Comrade Crist.

Making it really simple for the NRSC

Since the National Republican Senatorial Committee seems to have trouble making a distinction between bed-wetting socialists, RINOs and conservatives, I thought I'd make it a bit easier for them. I've taken the latest ratings I could find from several conservative organizations and averaged them out so even the nitwits over at the NRSC can figure it out.

Averaged are the NTU's ratings for the 110th Congress, the ACU's 2008 Senate vote ratings, the Club for Growth's 2008 congressional scorecard, and the CAGW's 2008 Pig Book data. I had to make two minor adjustments. The first was for John McCain, who wasn't rated by the NTU for his failure to actually show up and vote. In order to give him the benefit of the doubt, I substituted McCain's '92 to '07 averaged NTU ratings. As CAGW wasn't able to score Senate votes for Roger Wicker, I used his most impressive House votes for the same year.

While I've labeled the bottom third as liberal, the middle third as squishy and the top tier as conservative, there are no real bragging rights here as the "conservative" bar has been lowered to below the knees for the past few years. To be considered squishy in 2008 is akin to being Benedict Arnold in 1780.

Here are data possibly easy enough for even John Cornyn to understand:

John Hawkins of Right Wing News:
Cornyn Should Resign at NRSC!

Conservatives should stop supporting NRSC until Cornyn is gone:
We have a primary shaping up in Florida between Charlie Crist, a pro-stimulus, pro-amnesty, Arlen Specter style "Republican" and Marco Rubio, a young, Hispanic, anti-amnesty conservative who was the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives for the 2007 and 2008 legislative sessions. . . .
I would encourage you not to give the National Republican Senatorial Committee one thin dime of your money unless John Cornyn resigns. If they send you a letter asking for money or call you asking for money, let them know that they're not getting anything from you unless John Cornyn is gone and they stop interfering in Republican primary races.
