It's Your Turn for the Remote - Card for my Dad

Happy Saturday Everyone!
We have a very busy day ahead with a special "Meet the players, have some fun and some food" event at the Frisco Roughriders Baseball that our daughter was invited to after being recognized as an "Educational MVP" at her school.
Then as soon as that is done we'll be whizzing back home for the England V US game, with lots of loud shouting and maybe a few beers too! Then tomorrow morning hubby and our oldest son go off to Scout Camp for a week so there will be all the last minute stuff to finish for that, I'll be in need of a break too!
So yesterday I managed to make the card that is now winging its way "across the pond" to my Dad in England (don't worry he doesn't check my blog)
It is a lot more simple than my usual cards as postage is so expensive for the square, lumpy, bumpy cards especially Air Mail. And also every time I send a square card home it takes weeks instead of days.

Challenges:
The Shabby Tea Room - Just For Dad
Cards For Men - Fathers Day
Double Dutch - Fathers Day
Tellens Place - Fathers Day
Tanda Stamps - Fathers Day
My Partner in Crafting Crime - Fathers Day
Simple Doodles - Just for You Dad
One Stitch at a Time - Boys to Men
Creative Craft Challenges - For The Man in Your Life
Always Playing With Paper - Fathers Day (their very first challenge!)
Paper Cutz - Fathers Day
Drunken Stampers - Fathers Day
Incy Wincy - Paper Piecing a digi
Just For Fun - Olive, Light Blue and Tan

Card Recipe:
Image - Dad's Remote from The Digi Shack
Paper - DCWV The Guy Stack
Medium - Copic Markers
Sentiment - Printed in Harrington font

I thought I'd add a little special surprise inside :)

Here is a close up of the paper piecing.
I actually used the same image last year for the card for my hubby so I think I better find a different one for him this year ;)
Have a wonderful weekend!

Pile It On - To The One You Love

Happy Superbowl Sunday!
I'm sure you are getting in the mood for love with Valentines Day just around the corner.
Along with many other challenges the team at Pile It On would love to see your creations with the theme of "To The One You Love".
As you know the Pile It On philosophy is to add as many challenges as you can in the creation of your project and I've added the following (30!) to this card:

Cards for Men had a sketch I wanted to try with an option of Valentine/Love
Easy Craft Projects wanted a Valentine for a Man
Our Creative Corner wanted a Masculine Valentine
Rosie Dees had a Just For Men theme
Charisma said I Love You
Crazy 4 Challenges had a Be My Valentine theme
Craft wanted Love/Valentines
Double Dutch wanted Valentines
Creative Card Crew wanted Valentines
Stampin For The Weekend wanted Valentines
Dare U 2 Digi wants Hearts/Valentines (and a digi)
Pennys wanted Valentines/Love
Gingersnaps had a Romance theme
Bee Crafty wanted Romance
Stamp Something had a Love Something theme
Crafty Calendar wanted Love/Friendship with an option of Hearts
Raise The Bar wanted a Heart to Heart
Fun With Shapes want Hearts and Stripes
Digital Tuesday wanted a Different Fold
Tuesday Throwdown wanted Paper Piecing
Papertake had a "Love Actually" theme
The Tanda Teaser was to make something for a Loved One
Paper Play wanted Love Notes
Challenge Up Your Life wanted Valentines and Hearts
Fussy and Fancy wanted Hearts
Creative Craft had a Roses are Red theme
Simon Says has a photo inspiration of a Red Rose
Pixie Dust want a Decorative Border
Tellens Place wanted Tic Tac Toe and I chose Flowers, Punch and Bling
LaLa Lands wanted Hearts

I decided to make this card just for my hubby and chose this hilarious image from The Digi Shack who are having a super sale right now. I colored the image with a combo of Copic's and paper piecing (made super easy as you can print the image directly on to the paper).
The dp is Scrapworks "Love in Bloom" Stripes.
Hearts border punch is by Martha Stewart and the pearls are Queen and Co.

I made this into an easel card as it will stand up perfectly on my hubby's desk at work and everyone can see what a wonderful wife he has! LOL

I hope you've liked this one and I'd love to see you "Pile It On" this week with the challenge.

Woo Hoo! I'm guesting at La La Lands!!

Hi Everyone!
I've been holding in a secret for a while now and now I can let out the news!
For the months of November and December I'll be joining the Design Team as a guest over at La La Lands!
I've been playing with their challenges for a while now and even been winning a few and now I can play along with the team and have my projects up for you all to see!
There are 3 other wonderful ladies joining the team for the same term as me and you can see their work at the links below.
Elena Joldersman The Red Headed Girl
Kristine Breach Ink Something
Moon Hulsman Scrapjes Van Moon

To showcase my new appointment I thought I'd make a new project with the super cute Sitting Lalaand I hope you'll like her!

Of course there are a few challenges that I used to help me with this.

Mojo Monday gave me the sketch
Corrosive Challenges wanted "Anything But A Card"
Creative Inspirations wanted a decorated bag
Double Dutch wanted a decorated purse
The Crafty Pad had a color combo of Green, Red and Gold
Opus Gluei had an "Apple Of My Eye" theme
Die Cut Dreams had a Food/Drink theme
My Creative Clutter wanted you to base your color scheme on your Favorite Candy Wrapper and I chose Starburst candies.

Although I used a card sketch I decided to use it on a gift bag.
The dp is from the Summer Song stack by My Minds Eye that I got at Hobby Lobby.
Lala is colored with Copic's and she's sitting on a hand cut apple.
I used the wonderful Eyelet Lace "Around the Edge" punch set as a background to the dp.
I replaced the raffia handles on the gift bag with ribbon and added a "silk" rose to the top.

Here's a close up of cute Lala!
Be sure to check back tomorrow when I'll have my 1st card for the La La Landschallenge!

The curse of technology but I got there in the end!

First let me wish myself and my dh a Happy 15th Wedding Anniversary!
Through the good and the bad we are still together and still as silly with each other as ever :)
We are getting a rare dinner out alone tonight so Nate's Seafood here we come!

This morning was wonderful with a trip to Sam Moon's which if you are an accessories lover you will think you've died and gone to Handbag Heaven!
This afternoon I got a a couple of hours to update my blog, finish (well start) some DT projects whose deadlines are racing towards me. Well I put my Flash card in the PC and no way could I get it to read it. I tried a new card, retook the photos and still no joy. I went downstairs to use my dh's PC to read the photos, it worked and I emailed them back to myself to work on.
Then my editing program wouldn't work. Then I got one image to work on but the other was corrupt. So I had to take the photo again, run downstair to the other PC (climbing on a chair to reach the CPU as it's high on a shelf in the media closet), email it back to myself, run back upstairs and finally I got the image done.
Ugh...
Oh well here it is!LOL
I started with the colors at Kaboodle Doodles which were Black, White and Purple.
Truly Scrumptious wanted anything but a card
Then Bee Crafty wanted us to go a little OTT ( I think this is pretty OTT for a notebook)
Double Dutch wanted us to Go Back In Time and choose an old challenge so I chose their #3 challenge which was "Just a Note" where they wanted you to "pimp a notebook"
Whimsy Stamps wanted you to Add a Little Sparkle
and Pile it On told us "Good Things Comes in Threes"
Simon Says had a Back to School challenge and as the kids going back to school means more creating time for me I decided that this pimped notebook, that holds all my challenge notes, fitted the bill perfectly!
and last but by no means least Modern Sugar Blvd wanted to see Polka Dots.

This fabulous image is called Blogging Mama and is one of the latest Digital Stamps at Modern Sugar Blvd. I really think on a project like this digi's come into their own as I could never have found a rubber stamp this big but my digi's I can size them just how I like!
I colored her with Copic's and it's the first time I attempted black hair and I used just C5 and C7 and I don't think she looks too grey. The dp on the book is DCWV from last years Halloween stack. I printed out the sentiment and then matted it on Coredinations cardstock that I had embossed with Swiss Dots and sanded for the purple to come through.
I added bows and flowers and rhinestones and ribbons to try and get the "Over The Top" feel, did it work?

I just wanted a close up of her hair as it's the first black hair and I wanted to remember it! LOL
Anyway, I must log off as all my plans for this afternoon went up in smoke apart from getting this up but at least one thing was done!
