Scor-Pal/Clearsnap Blog Hop

Welcome to my stop on the Clearsnap and Scor-Pal Summer Fun Blog Hop 2011!!

You should have arrived here from Daniela's blog, if not be sure to go back to the start at Clearsnap so you don't miss a single spot on the hop!

Our lovely Design Teams have created some wonderful summer fun projects with
the Scor-Pal, brimming with inspiration and of course lots of Clearsnap inks! Visit each Design Team member's blog to see what inspiring projects they have to share. Leave a comment on each blog. We'll choose one winner from all of the comments posted to receive a prize pack from Clearsnap and
another from Scor-Pal.

For my Summer Themed project I chose to make a mini recipe box and offset gatefold card to save all those fabulous recipes you've collected over the Summer.
It would also be the perfect gift for a Blue Ribbon Winner at a County Fair!
As always I have a few challenges linked as well.

Challenges
AI Factory - Anything Goes
Paper Crafting Journey - Anything Goes
Thrilling Thursday - Anything Goes
Aud's Sentiments - Anything Goes
Craft Us Crazy - Anything Goes (3 entries only)
Crop Stop - Pearls (3 entries only)
Hanna and Friends - In The Kitchen
Happileigh Scrappin - Girlie

I used the following tutorial for a Mini Recipe box and added a handle.

Project Recipe:
Images - Tilda with Rolling Pin and Tilda Baking Cookies
Cooking Stamps - Stamps by Judith
Paper - K and Co Watercolor Bouquet
Medium - Copic Markers
Ink - Colorbox Espresso
Smooch Spritz - Vanilla Sugar, Cashmere and Ginger Ale
Flower - Wild Orchid Crafts
Border Punch - Martha Stewart
Stickers - Crafty Secrets
Pearls - Recollections
Ribbon - Unknown

I used the soft Espresso ink to stamp the little kitchen jars, the perfect color, not too harsh but clear and crisp.

The card is a super simple gate fold but just slightly offset so one "gate" folds over the other. I really like the versatility of this fold, you can make it just how you want it and very easily with the Scor-Pal.

I layered the Smooch Spritz's on the flower, giving a wonderful depth, lots of shimmer and the perfect color for my project.

Now you've seen my little project be sure to HOP ON OVER to Charlotte's blog to carry on with the fun!
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to leave a comment!

Guest at Decorate To Celebrate - 4th of July Celebrations!

EDITED TO ADD - Picked in the Top 5 at Stamp Something Thanks so much!!!!!

A few weeks ago I made a set of napkin rings with some Digital Delights images and the ladies over at Decorate to Celebrate spotted them and asked me if I'd like to be a Guest Designer for them! It just goes to show, sometimes things just drop in your lap when you aren't expecting them :)
It is a brand new blog and it's designed around paper crafters, and any other crafters, using their skills to make decorations.
This time the challenge is for the upcoming 4th of July celebrations here in the USA and even though I'm an Englishwoman I was happy to be a guest!

Challenges:
Decorate to Celebrate 4th of July
Going Grey - Anything Goes (2 entries only)
Totally Stampalicious - Anything Goes
Whoopsi Daisy - Free and Easy
Bearly Mine - Anything Goes
Anything Goes - Summer
Aud's Sentiments - Summertime (and a sentiment)
Prairie Fairy - Summertime Fun
Totally Papercrafts - Summer
Moving Along With the Times - Anything But A Card
Diva's by Design - Anything But A Card
Stamp Something - Punch Something

Project Recipe:
Mini Watering Can - Hobby Lobby (on clearance at $1.23!)

Ribbon - Michaels
Sentiments - Karen Foster Design Patriotic Words and Karen Foster Design American Phrases
4th of July Sticker - The Paper Studio
Firework Stickers - Hobby Lobby
Punches - Martha Stewart Deco Shells and Martha Stewart Lace Heart

I made the rosettes by first of all punching a strip of paper with a decorative edger punch. Then using the punch design as a guide I scored in between each guide, made a fan fold and made the rosette. I used wooden skewers for the sticks and added sticker sentiments to the center of the rosettes, finally I added a red, white and blue plaid ribbon tied into bows on each stick. Then I added a piece of oasis cut to fit the can and stuck in the sticks. I finished it with colored tissue paper, a sticker sentiment and coordinating ribbon.
I'm sure many of my paper crafting followers have supplies like this in their stash and sometimes we need to "think outside of the box" when crafting and this would be the perfect time!
Come along and see all the creations and join in the fun at Decorate to Celebrate!

Hope you can keep cool in the Summer weather and maybe an afternoon in crafting would be a good idea!

This gorgeous image of Hannah had me envisioning her looking longingly and thinking about a special someone and so that's why I thought it was perfect for a birthday card for a very special someone. I paper pieced the dress with a very subtle patterned paper and added highlights with my Copic Markers.
The vintage style lace was a final touch along with the pearls on the die cut doily.

A Spoon Full of Sugar - Let's Celebrate!!!!

Spotlight Choice at City Crafter

It's time for another challenge at A Spoon Full Of Sugar and this week we are giving you a theme challenge! We want to see projects for any Celebration you would like!
Now I'll warn you, there are lots of photos on this post as I wanted to show you as much detail as I could.
This project is the one I taught at Personal Scrapbook (a local store) a couple of weeks ago and there was a kit spare so I decided to make it again for this challenge.
I will try and explain all under each photo.

Banner and Border Dies - My Favorite Things Banner and Dizzy Border
Ribbon - Whimsy Cottage by Michaels
Brads - Target $1 spot
Pearls - Bridal Dept
Tiny Tag Die - Boss Kut

This is the card with it's decorative band.
The card is 6" square and a gatefold style.

Inside the card.

This decorative band goes around the card and is designed to stay up when the card is slightly open. I made a rosette flower using my Daisy border punch first and then scoring in between each scallop and then in the center of each scallop and then fan folding.

This is the box. It is an "All In One" box with the "lid" actually being attached to the bottom of the box. I saw the design on Split Coast Stampers and altered it a little to make a larger box.

To match the band on the card I made a band to go around the box with a coordinating rosette flower on the top.

Here you can see the box as you start to pull the lid up. It looks a little like a Christmas Cracker to me and it can fit 3 Ferrero Rocher chocolates in it! (I tried :))

This opening gets larger the more you pull the lid upwards so you can easily drop in a few goodies.

Anyway if you made it to the end I hope you liked it and I'd love it if you played along with our "Let's Celebrate" challenge at A Spoon Full Of Sugar this week!
