Carole's Sunday Review: Of flame and fate - Cecy Robson

Author: Cecy Robson
Title: Of Flame and Fate (Weird Girls #8)
Genre: UF and Romance
Pages: ebook
Published: September 26th 2017
I Got It: My shelf (Amazon)

Taran Wird, who commands the power to wield fire and lightning, is an oddity in the supernatural world. But neither Taran nor her unique sisters compare to the bizarre entity known as Destiny. And Taran is assigned to protect her.

Born of two witches, Destiny is revered among the supernatural elite for her acute ability to predict the future. Her biggest prophecy involves Taran’s sister, Celia, whom Destiny decreed will bear children strong enough to take on the evil that’s rising. Yet Destiny is not alone in her predictions, or individuality.

When Johnny Fate, a rock star among humans and a male version of Destiny is discovered, his powers and Destiny’s clash, triggering the start of Destiny’s demise and altering the fate of Celia’s unborn children.

Taran, her werewolf lover Gemini, and their allies must determine if it’s Fate who will decide what will become of Celia’s children, or if their lives and the world will perish with Destiny

I was so excited when I realized I had pre-ordered this book. I totally forgot! When I opened my kindle and this started loading I squealed with joy and the moment it was done I dove in.

Oooooooooooooooooooooooh this was good!

And look at that cover? BEAUTIFULLLLL!

The beginning started right where the short story left off and I had to try and remember what happened previously. Once I got my footing, I couldn’t put it down.

There really is no break for Taran and her sisters. Evil never sleeps I guess. So yes. Like normal the baddies are after the sisters, but now the baddies have their sights on some big players for the good guys. This includes Destiny who I simply adore!

Gemini is still my favorite wolf I think, but he was annoying. Yes, yes, I get he wants to protect Taran, but I feel like he was being a little over-protective in this one. But I guess I get it after their break-up and getting back together. He is scared to lose her again. I get it…but a girl’s gotta do her part in protecting the world and her family. Taran is a tough cookie.

Yes. This was so good. I loved Fate and his whole story. I want to learn more about the whole Destiny/Fate thing for sure.

There were a few SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW moments that had me bored. Which happens.

The ending was something else. I cried in happiness and laughed like a loon. Dang it for feels!

In the end, this was really good. The beginning was a little jarring because it started RIGHT after the short story and it had been a while since I read the last story. Gem needs to calm down. He did get better near the end. I highly encourage reading the past novels before diving into this one. There is a lot of backstory going on and has a HUGE part to play in the story.

I shall stamp this with.....4 stars.

Review and Giveaway: Of flame and light - Cecy Robson

Taran Wird holds the unique ability to conjure fire and lightning. She is mated to Gemini, Second in Command to the Squaw Valley Pack of the Lake Tahoe Region, and the sole werewolf to possess the ability to split into two wolves. And although they are mates, Taran's insecurities have driven them apart.

Devastated by an injury that left her with a zombie-like limb, Taran struggles to regain command over her magic. But when her arm and her power turn against her, lashing out on those she most loves, she knows she can no longer carry this burden alone. Not that she likes the alternative.

The only way to regain control of her magic is to align and learn from the local coven of witches―the very ones who sought to banish her when she and her three unique sisters first moved to the mystical region. But although Taran is trying, the teachings don't come easy, and the tasks leave her weak and emotionally shattered.

Yet Taran must learn and learn fast. Time is running out. The fire she once mastered so easily has become her greatest adversary and is now slowly burning her alive . . .

My thoughts:
Oh Taran, she is such a mess. First, she has a new arm, an arm that wants to do magic of its own, and not always good magic. And in the last book she and Gemini split. She is still missing him, and honestly I forgot why they split, them being mates and all. Oh silly idiots!

The rest of the family is doing their thing while Taran tries to control her killer arm and gets sent to the witches. I do not like the witches, they are bitches. But she really is a danger to everyone.

This book was more ground level evil than many of the other ones. Not really, but Taran does spend a lot of time with the witches, there are battles to fight there too. And missing Gemini, and yes, there is something big and bad out there. But for once it felt more manageable.

We finally got a glimpse of that thing I have been waiting for..not saying what ;)

There is danger, more danger, action, and school. And bitchy witches of course. I guess the next one is about Taran too, and it will be fun to see what she has learned. And if it is not about her then I hope it's Emmie's booK

Of Flame and Promise - Cecy Robson

Cursed by a spell meant to destroy them, Taran Wird and her sisters instead developed unique magical talents. With the power of fire and lightning literally at her fingertips, Taran doesn’t fear much. Demons, vamps, whatever—bring ’em on! Only one thing terrifies her: commitment.

Taran is crazy about her boyfriend, Gemini, a sexy were with the incredible ability to split into two separate wolves. But after watching her sister go through heartbreak with the pack’s Alpha, Taran knows not to count on happily ever after—despite Gemini’s desire to claim her as his mate. Reluctantly, she agrees to meet his very traditional and conservative parents. Taran’s a badass with a mouth to match, and Gemini loves her for it. She’s just not positive these attributes will please Mom and Dad.

Unsurprisingly, every attempt by Taran to bond with Gemini’s folks proves disastrous. But in the end, Taran finds that winning them over means unleashing her powers . . . and proving that this foul-mouthed fire-starter is a force to be reckoned with.

My thoughts:
This one takes place during previous books, the timelines goes into each other. As this is now Taran's story.

And Taran is having issues in her relationship with Gemini. I get that, she saw what Aric put Celia through, and now I got angry at Aric again. Love sucks! She is afraid to give her heart and trust to Gemini. And he is such a sweetie and just wants to claim his mate. We have them dealing with that.

But the fun part was that his parents are coming to visit. Omg, Taran can just not keep her mouth shut. I enjoyed this part of the story.

And we can not forget about the action, yes there is that there too. Bad things are always around. Those pesky demons.

Conclusion:
It's a novella, so that is about it. Some laughs, some passion and some action. I can't wait to read more.

A curse unbroken - Cecy Robson

The preternatural world is changing. After a massive magical throwdown tore apart the established order, the dark elements are rebuilding their ranks unopposed. Celia Wird’s world is changing, too. She’s the mate of the pureblood were Aric, and his Warriors are honor-bound to protect her family as she and her sisters recover from unimaginable horrors.

Celia hesitates to reveal the true extent of the Wird sisters’ trauma, but they aren’t the only ones keeping secrets: Aric and the werewolf Elders are tracking a stone that grants limitless power. So is a tough coven of witches. Then Misha, a master vampire with his own plans for the stone, sends Celia after it. Can she and the vamps beat both the weres and the witches to the treasure before it falls into the wrong hands?

Fearing for Celia’s safety, Aric begs her to stay out of the hunt. What they don’t realize is that they’re the ones being hunted. But Celia’s ready to prove that she’s not easy prey.

My thoughts:
This book was not as brutal as the last one. Well with that I mean poor Celia was not abused as much as in the last one. But, poor girls, they still have to fight for their lives.

Everyone is still shaken after what happened. But life moves on. There is a mythical stone to find and something fishy is going on.

First, the end! I liked how this ended :) and it was Celia's last book, but I like how we left her. I am happy now. After all the struggles!! But then again, her sisterÅ› books are coming and I doubt bad things will stop coming after them.

There is action, romance, fear of heartbreak and promises of so much more to come. I do wonder what the big bad that is coming after them really is. Cos we have seen a lot of minions...lots of them! But what is the bigger scheme of things?...hm

Conclusion:
A good conclusion to Celia's story.

A Cursed Bloodline - Cecy Robson

Just when Celia thinks the supernatural world can’t turn deadlier, a new rival emerges, proving just how dangerous a power-hungry were can be.

Since being cursed with unique abilities, Celia Wird and her three sisters have fought the most bloodthirsty preternaturals in the Lake Tahoe region. But Celia’s greatest threat is someone she would have never suspected: Anara, a werewolf Elder who has allowed his hatred for Celia to spiral out of control. In a play for dominance, Anara tortures Celia and gives her an ultimatum: sever her mate bond with pureblood were Aric — or Anara will kill everyone she loves.

From the instant they met, Celia and Aric have shared an attraction that cannot be tamed. So keeping Aric away is impossible, and Aric would sooner die than allow anyone to hurt the woman he loves. Misha, master vampire and Celia’s sworn protector, also finds his way into the chaos, seeking blood from those who have harmed her.

Now Celia and her sisters are caught in the middle of a war driven by lust, fueled by hatred, and destined to end in tragedy. For Anara is a force to be reckoned with, and he will not succumb without robbing Celia of those who hold her heart.

My thoughts:
This book was pretty brutal. For a pregnant woman she sure gets kicked around a LOT in this book. It got to that point where I was all, please! Please, do not have people beat her up anymore!

Right, so the book is violent. I guess you already guessed that. Someone is hurting her and it's not pretty. Then there is the whole I am preggers and no one knows angle. And of course the I must stay away from Aric and it breaks me angle. It does not make for a happy book. Everyone is miserable. Everyone!

But Celia is trying to get out of the corner she has been backed into. I have forgiven Aric and I just want them together. I still love Misha, poor Misha :/ He needs a woman. Anyway, the way out of that corner is filled with fights, blood and heartache.

One thing, a lot happened, not always in a good way. There was just a lot going on, they just jumped from one thing to another. But oh well, at least I was never bored then. Non stop action.

And then that thing at the end, omg, evil. I just want everyone to be happy. Please make everyone happy.

Conclusion:
Looking forward to more.

Cursed by Destiny - Cecy Robson

Celia Wird and her three sisters are just like other 20-something girls—with one tiny exception: they're products of a backfired curse that has given each of them unique powers that make them, well, weird…...

Celia’s a girl in trouble.  Her heart is bound to Aric, but he is a pureblood were who must deny her or risk condemning his species to extinction.  And that’s just her love life. She’s also been called to take down a group of demon terrorists looking to overthrow the paranormal world. (No pressure.)

In order to bring them down, Celia must ally herself to Misha, the master vampire who has made no secret of his desire for her. And if that weren’t enough misfortune for one girl, a clairvoyant’s prediction could destroy Celia and Aric’s love for good. The only way to protect the world from unbridled supernatural terrorism is for Celia to bind herself to her destined mate. And that doesn’t appear to be Aric….

My thoughts:
I was angry at Aric for a great deal of this book. He is supposed to marry someone else (cos the wolf leaders are assholes). But he kept coming to Celia, wanting her comfort and I was all hell no! You stay away! Aric was hurting, Celia was hurting. It was painful to read about. I just wanted him to go away, he made it so much worse. I so want to go and kick that one wolf elder in the butt, dang him!

But the book was about other things too ;) I liked Misha for awhile (I still do), I just do not think they should be, sadly no. So Celia is staying there, as everyone else is at the Den, and she is not allowed. Damn assholes.

And then there is the whole plot of course. Someone is after Celia. Lots of different attempts to get her. Demons running around and just all kind of bad guys around.

And the end, first something being said by someone arghhhh. And then something Celia says. Omg, omg! I remembered finishing book 2 and not knowing if there would be a book 4. Now I know, and I am glad I waited a bit longer to read this one cos I really want book 4 now.

Conclusion:
Good series.

Reviews x2 Cecy Robson

The Wird sisters are content to avoid the local vampires, werebeasts, and witches of the Lake Tahoe region—until one of them blows up a vampire in self-defense. Everyone knows vampires aren't aggressive, and killing one is punishable by death. But soon more bloodlust-fueled attacks occur, and the community wonders if the vampires of Tahoe are plague-ridden.

Celia reluctantly agrees to help Misha, the handsome leader of an infected vampire family. But Aric, the head of the werewolf pack determined to destroy Misha's family to keep the area safe, warns Celia to stay out of the fight. Caught between two hot alphas, Celia must find a way to please everyone, save everyone, and—oh, yeah—not lose her heart to the wrong guy or die a miserable death. Because now that the evil behind the plague knows who Celia is, he's coming for her and her sisters.

My thoughts:
This was a fun and light,  I'd say UFR :)

Sure there was the triangle that was so beyond PNR. I mean vampire and wolf, duh. But hey sure it's old school but it works. It's not Celia's fault that a vampire master lusts after her (I am sure her blood is very delish). And not her fault that she sees a hot alpha wolf and starts to lust after him and he her. Yes Aric is one sexy wolf.

The sisters were fun and they might just find love here. I liked them all. They are all weird too, not really human, but not supernatural either. I do wonder about that, sure we got the explanation but still...cool!

The men, mm I did like Misha the vampire. Aric the werewolf was so alpha and it could have annoyed me, but I guess I am in the mood for alpha today.

The ending was no cliffie but hey I still want more at once. I need to see what happens to them all.

Conclusion:
I hope book 2 will be great too!

After Celia Wird and her sisters help master vampire Misha save his family, their powers are exposed to the supernatural community of the Lake Tahoe region. But fame comes at a price, and being “weird” isn’t always welcome.

To make matters worse, Celia desires the love of Alpha werewolf Aric, but his pack is bent on destroying their relationship to preserve his pureblood status. And once weres start turning up dead—with evidence pointing to the vampires—she must face the prospect of losing Aric forever. But the chaos only masks a new threat. An evil known as the Tribe has risen—and their sights are set on Celia and her sisters.

My thoughts:
Omg this book was brutal! Absolutely brutal. The last part had me curled into fetal position and angry as hell. And the end, the end! It was evil and delicious. It made me want book 3 like crazy. I could gush and gush, but the last part, so freaking good. And eeeevil.

I should say something then, but honestly all I can think of is the end, and the Aric part. Gut wrenching.

Can't I just gush and gush? *thinks about the end again* I am so dying here.

4 cool sisters. Their kick-ass boyfriends. Evil things emerging. Ass-kicking. Celia and Aric trying to be together. *me becoming angry hulk*. Evil things going on. And a sweet, yet evil ending.

Conclusion:
There I said it. Just read the book!
