Hrithik Roshan to Play Lord Ram in Father-in-Law Sanjay Khan’s Film, The Legend of Rama

RAM KATHA

Hrithik Roshan to play Ram in father-in-law Sanjay Khan’s film, The Legend of Rama

Sanjay Khan, producer of TV serial The Sword of Tipu Sultan (1989) is set to produce a film, The Legend of Rama, to be co-scripted by Sanjay Khan and UK based author Farrukh Dhondy.

According to sources, the cast includes Sanjay’s superstar son-in-law, Hrithik Roshan as Ram, Sanjay’s son Zayed as Laxman and Amitabh Bachchan as Dashrath.

Talking about this epic project, Zayed Khan says, “Yes, my father is indeed making the Ramayan. It’s called The Legend of Rama. He has been planning this film for the last three years and looking for a perfect to play Ram. And who but Hrithik could be the perfect choice for the role?” Apparently Amitabh Bachchan had agreed to play Dashrath, but that was two years ago. As for Zayed playing Laxman the young actor, who will be seen as the pampered younger brother in Subhash Ghai’s Yuvvraaj, chuckles, “Playing Laxman in one form or another is the story of my life.”

Dhondy, who is currently in Mumbai to give finishing touches to the script says, “It’s Ramayan in modern format and the script is ready. This means it will be the Ramayan in The Lord Of The Rings genre. The screenplay has the motion, motivation and movement of a Shakespearean play. When you do a Mahabharat, Ramayan or any other scripture the danger is, it just becomes - the Gods did this, Gods did that because the Gods can do anything they like. That’s why you are taught in writing school to never include Gods in your creativity. I’m trying to rationalise the ways of the Gods. Hrithik is the perfect Ram and Zayed the perfect Laxman.”

However, it is yet to be seen, who plays Sita and Ravan. Interestingly, Raj Kumar Santoshi had announced his version of Ramayan with Ajay Devgan, Kajol and Riteish Deshmukh as Rama, Sita and Laxman respectively. But the project was shelved. This year Ekta Kapoor’s ambitious TV serial, Mahabharat, was struggling to drum up the TRPs. Will Sanjay Khan is able to break the jinx on the epic sagas?

Subhash Ghai Had a Tough Time Convincing Salman Khan to Dye His Hair Blonde Yuvvraaj

Blonde Identity: Salman Khan in Yuvvraaj

Subhash Ghai wanted Salman Khan to dye his hair blonde for Yuvvraaj. But that was easier said than done

Subhash Ghai had a tough time convincing Salman Khan to dye his hair blonde for his film, Yuvvraaj. Ghai wanted Salman, who plays the title role, to look different than he usually is. So he thought upon various ideas to enhance Salman's personality in the film. According to a source, “Ghai was adamant on showcasing Salman in a different look in the film. So he tried several looks for him but failed to get what he wanted. Then suddenly, one day, a brainwave struck Ghai and he asked Salman to go blonde. Initially Salman laughed at the statement thinking that Ghai was joking but eventually when he realised that he was serious about it, he outright refused to do any such thing.”

Ghai confirmed the news and said, “I tried several looks on Salman's photograph with the help of a computer. But I realised that every look I devised, looked pale in comparison with his real life personality.”

Then how did the blonde look come about? Ghai revealed, “It just happened in Austria on the first day of the shoot. I was still toying with the idea of giving Salman a different look. I don't know whom I saw or what I remembered, but I suddenly told Salman that I want him to go blonde.” Salman was too shocked to react. Ghai added, “Salman did not like my idea. He refused. He saw my face fall.”

On the sets, Ghai had another shock waiting for him. Salman did not turn up for the shoot. Ghai recollected the day's happening and said, “I waited for two hours and since Salman did not turn up at the shoot, I suspected that he didn't like my idea and was upset about it. However, soon he walked in and my eyes popped out. He had coloured his hair blonde and was smiling at me.” Salman had dyed his hair blonde at his hotel and was looking just as Ghai had wanted him to. Ghai chuckled, “I guess Salman likes to give pleasant surprises. Yuvvraaj also stars Anil Kapoor, Zayed Khan and Katrina Kaif.

Sahan, Who Was Involved in a Fight with Zayed Khan, Calls him a Coward

Pictures: Zayed Khan and Sahan

Zayed Khan reportedly got into a brawl at a suburban nightspot on Thursday. The actor denies that he was involved. He said, "A fight broke out between two groups. I was not involved. You can speak to the boys who were."

We did just that. Sahan (last name withheld), who is visiting the city, is one of the boys involved in the scrap with Zayed.

Cowardly behaviour
The 24-year-old from London recounts what happened. "Firstly, I'd like to set the record straight. Unlike the newspaper report, I don't have a brother called Yashir, nor do I know anyone by that name who was involved in the fight that night. Secondly, I don't run a chain of ice-cream parlours as mentioned. I'm in Mumbai visiting family. Thirdly, the group attack on me was really unfair. What Zayed and his friends did, was very cowardly."

Sahan continues, "At around 2 am, I was climbing down the stairs when I came across Zayed Khan who was in high spirits. He picked an argument with me, out of the blue. His body language and behaviour was very aggressive. When Zayed pushed me, I pushed him back too. But as soon as my hand left his chest, I felt a punch land on my face from the side. I had not realised was that he was standing in a group with six more guys. They started hitting me."

"I saw the bouncers coming near us and thought they'd break up the fight. To my surprise they held my hands behind my back and let Zayed and his friends have a go at me. They took turns in punching and kicking me, while I was held by the bouncers. When my friends and my brother who were in the other room, came out and saw what was happening, they tried to stop the fight. Then one of the guys who was hitting me, ordered the bouncers to take me out of the club and then they pounced on my brother. They pulled him by his hair to the middle of the dance floor and kicked him on the head and the ribs. He now has a broken nose and a split eye — he had to get stitches. Whenever there's a fight about to spark off, the bouncers in London escort the concerned parties out and let them sort the problem outside. I have been to various places in Mumbai and have never witnessed anything like this before."

Sirf main hi kyun?
"When I was thrown out, I kept asking the bouncers why they didn't throw the other guy out who was actually the one hitting me. They had no answer. I learned from the papers that Zayed is an actor. Until then, I didn't know of his celebrity status. The owner of the club was also involved. The events of that night has changed my perception of Mumbai completely and I am not going to go out and party like I used to before and I am even contemplating leaving the country as soon as possible. I think if he really had a problem with me, he should have come and taken it up with me like a man and not like a coward."
