Black, Red, and White Challenge

Shopping Our Stash has a Black, Red, and White challenge.  The really cool inspiration cards were mostly Christmas-themed.  Like Maria from SOS, I am long past Christmas cards, and have moved on to Valentine cards.

The pattern papers are from Carta Bella Words of Love pad, sketch is sort of Mojo Monday 460, sentiment from Simon Says.  The perfectly coordinating die cut heart is from the In Love Arts Multiple Heart Décor dies.  When I have a die set that includes a lot of small pieces, I often leave them connected.  Great variety in this set!

Card Redeux

So I made this card, and thought, why do we only use circles for the bokeh technique?  Why can't I use hearts instead?

I used Chipped Sapphire, Stormy Sky, and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide inks for the background.  To make the stencil, I punched some different sized hearts into a piece of mylar.  I changed out the and matted it with white instead of pink to make it more masculine.  I like this version even better than the original!  Shared with The Male Room Heart This challenge.

CAS-ual Fridays Hearts

The CAS-ual Fridays challenge is Hearts, Hearts, and More Hearts!
CAS-ual Fridays sentiment.  I bought the die secondhand, not sure of the creator.  This is a  smaller (5"x3.5") card.  Come play along with us at Words 2 Craft By for our New Beginnings challenge through February 7!!

Hugs & Kisses

Try Stampin' on Tuesdays challenge is Tic Tac Toe:
I chose diagonal, lower left to upper right, Lace, Heart, Pink:
My lace is a paper doily, but I think that counts, right?!?!  The hugs die is from Lawn Fawn, the (partial) sentiment is from Our Daily Bread.  The pink paper has a wonderful texture that doesn't show up in the photo.  I got a pop up light box for Christmas, but I am not convinced that it helps improve my photos...

Love is in the air....

I am not big on Valentine's Day, so I tend to make love cards instead.
The Mod Squad challenge this week is to make a card with hearts or the words "love".  The kraft hearts were stamped with various background stamps and white Lawn Fawn ink, red hearts  from very old Bazzill patterned paper and stamped on the patterns.  The sentiment is from Clearly Defined, and accented with a kraftish-gold heart brad.  Colorbok cream and white patterned paper.  I am sure you can't tell how much time and effort went into this one....

Fusion - Heartful

I found a new-to-me challenge blog with an intriguing concept. They provide a sketch and a photo, and you can respond to just the sketch challenge, just the inspiration photo challenge, or create FUSION by combining both challenges into one card. OK, I am up for it! Here are the photo and sketch:
My response was pretty literal:
I stamped the heart in Versamark, heat embossed, and die cut with a Spellbinder die. As usual, my stamping and embossing were imperfect, so I took my embossing marker and filled in the edges, then layered it on a scalloped heart. I added the horizontal and banner elements with ribbon. Congrats and best of luck on your new blog Fusion! OWH Sketch #246

The sketch and my version:

OWH Sketch 246

Unity Stamp image and sentiment.  Marvy die cut hearts.  I decided to forgo the second embellishment in the upper left corner, given the placement of the heart on the ion.  Texture fans, don't despair.  The card base has a herringbone type texture, black on the outside, white on the inside.

OWH Sketch Challenge #244

We have a new sketch hostess!!!   I will miss Marlene's fun posts, and am so excited for Sybrina, our new hostess!  She has some big shoes to fill, but I am sure she will do a great job.  Sybrina is my dear friend and cohort in our Words2ScrapBy.blogspot.com challenge blog.

This week's sketch and my version:

OWH Sketch 244

Our Daily Bread Designs challenge this month is to make a card with primary colors.  I think this one qualifies!  I used a mish mash of products.  Patterned paper from Bazzil, die cut from Provocraft, sentiment from Our Baily Bread Designs.  Red card base, button and floss from my incredible Marti stash.  Trying to make a few love cards to send to OWH before the end of the year.

OWH Sketch Challenge #203

This week's challenge looks like this:
203

Here is my version:
Sizzix texture plate, Spellbinder heart and rectangle dies, satin ribbon from my OWH goodie box.  The card is much prettier in person, I promise!!!  Photos are tough without my computer.  ASUS has had mine since November 8 (it is an ultra book, not even a year old), and still has not fixed the problems.  I will never buy that brand again!!!!
