Christmas Tags

Hello, Henriëtte here sharing two Christmas tags I've made for the Blue Fern Studios and
Tres Jolie Kit Club You Tube hop, which you can still enter.

I used the Christmas Cheer collection to decorate two large chipboard tags.

I embossed the chipboard pieces with sparkly embossing powder and glitters.

More info about the You Tube hop:

My video can be found here:

For the YouTube hop, make sure you watch each video, thumbs it up, and comment for a chance to win a prize from Tres Jolie Kit Club and Blue Fern Studios. You have until December 20th to complete the hop.

Double Z fold Christmas card

Hi everyone, DT Henriëtte here today sharing a double Z fold card made with the new
Christmas Cheer collection.

I found the inspiration and a tutorial for this special fold card on
Kathy Clement's Youtube channel.
I made the cardbase from ivory cardstock and decorated all the panels with the
beautiful Christmas Cheer patterned papers.

On the center panel I made a pocket for a big tag.
I will write my Christmas wishes on the tag.

I used the ephemera pieces from the collection to decorate the card but also
two chipboard pieces.
I embossed the chipboard with oatmeal embossing powder.
On the chipboard Christmas tree I glued Fir tree seedlings.

The back of the Z fold card is also decorated with the cheerful papers.

I'm very pleased with the result.
This special card will be on it's way soon,  I hope it's recipient likes it too.

Thanks for visiting the Blue Fern Studios blog.

Hugs, Henriëtte.

Taken From The Past by Debbie Burns

Hi everyone!  Debbie here today to share a frame I altered with the Attic Charm collection.

I started off with a small white decorative frame which I dabbed with some rose gold wax.  I then began to build up layers by using Curio, Calling Cards and Attire papers from the Attic Charm collection.  In addition to building up layers I did a lot of fussy cut work from papers.

Here I used a couple of older chipboard pieces from Blue Fern Studios which I embossed with Pink Dust embossing powder.  I lightly dabbed on some rose gold wax and added a sprinkling of Gold Nugget, Tickled and Sweet Pea Seedlings.

Tucked between layers I used some Blue Fern lace and flowers from Moody Florals and
Chesterville Blooms.  I added some fussy cut work from the Attic Key, Attire, Curio and Mercantile papers.

Lots of fussy cut images.

Lots of layers!

Authentic Canvas

Hi everyone!  Today I have a mixed media canvas to share with you using the Happy Accident 2 collection.

I started off by stamping randomly on the canvas with the Grungy Grid and Forever stamps.  Next I added some flourishes with paint and a stencil, and then added some copper wax.  I created layers using the
Balmoral, Chase, Grubby and Faux papers from Happy Accident 2, along with some Happy Accident 2 ephemera.

To the right I used the Blooms & Butterfly chipboard piece, which I cut in half.  I embossed it with Blue Fern Chile Powder Embossing Powder and dabbed on some blue paint and copper wax.  I tucked in a couple of flowers from Harvest Lilies and  Happy Floral. I covered the chipboard piece at the bottom with copper wax and stamped over it with the Grungy Grid stamp.

Here I used the other half of the Blooms & Butterfly chipboard, along with some other Blue Fern Chipboard that I embossed with Chile Powder Embossing Powder, then dabbed with blue paint, added copper wax and some stamping.

The title is from the Arrow Words 2 set.  To finish off the canvas, I applied some mini art stones along with some Paprika and Evening Sky Seedlings.

Layered Layout - Places to Go

Hello everyone, it's Aida here from @aidaville and I hope you're having a good start to this month of March !

I'm sharing a layout of my older daughter who faced lots of challenges getting to where is is today. A musician, committed animal activist, a full scholarship Graduate and currently a Teaching Assistant at the University while she completes her Masters in Political Science. The title "I've got places to go and people to see" perfectly sums up the full life she worked hard to carve out.

The Blue Fern Studios products used are :
Patterned Papers :
Heartland - XOXO | Remnants - Westfield | Happy Accidents 2 - Tonic
Lace no. 5
Wanderlust Printed Chipboard
Chipboard - Widgets
Flowers : Happy Blossoms | Garden Blooms
Embossing Powder : Silver Bells
Others : 8 x 10" flat backed canvas.

I love the Wanderlust Printed Chipboard as it has some thickness to it for creating layers and edging the chipboards with contrasting acrylic paint, some Distress inking gives it depth. As you can see the photo was adhered inside the oval frame for prominence and the other chipboard pieces were added around it

Creating is so much easier, and fun when chipboard pieces have sentiments which can be used as titles like this one above !

Here is a closer look at the layers.

Very often lace is soft and may require a thin layer of transparent Gesso, stiffening them to make for easier handling. The Lace no.5 was trimmed into smaller manageable pieces, then inserted in between the flowers and chipboard and glued securely.
Silver Bells Embossing powder gave the chipboard Widgets interesting texture and the pieces were given a light daub of grey acrylic paint on the edges for more dimension.

Floral embellishments really do complete a layout and it looks so pretty ! For a shabby feel, I gently coated the blooms with thinned down white gesso.

I hope this layered layout has given you interesting ideas and shown how to create with Blue Fern Studios. Thank you for coming by,  have a happy, create-ful Sunday !

Win or learn never lose

Hi everyone!  Debbie Burns here with you today.  I'm so excited to be back designing for Blue Fern Studios.  I've been a fan of their products for years and was lucky to have the opportunity to design for Blue Fern Studios over the last few years.   I look forward to sharing my projects with you this year.

I've been paper crafting for the past twenty years, and I am always experimenting with various mixed media techniques.   Today I have a mixed media canvas to share with you that I created using the
Happy Accident 2 collection.

I started off with blank canvas and added texture with paints, waxes, modeling paste and papers. Lots of layering using the Suave and Grubby papers and ephemera from the Happy Accident 2 collection.

The title is from the Happy Accident 2 printed chipboard.   To the right I used a Late Winter Lily which I dabbed with some brown rust effect paste and added some Blue Fern Paprika and Twig Seedlings.

I placed a few pieces of chipboard among my layers.  To the right I used the Criss Cross chipboard, embossed with Blue Fern Melon Embossing Powder.  To the left I used a Classic Mini Frame chipboard, painted Blue and gold.

To the left and right of my layering I placed a Chesterville Blooms coral flower which I dabbed with some gold wax.  I also placed a Swirls &Twirls chipboard piece, covered with gold wax.  Tucked beneath the Late Winter Lily I used a blue flower from The Chesterville Blooms.  The finishing touch, Twig and Paprika Seedlings.

I hope I have inspired you.  Thanks for stopping by!
