Starting to Piece Wonky Shoo Fly Blocks

I am starting to put the blocks together for what will be my Wonky Shoo Fly quilt...

There will be about half pieced blocks from the BlockLotto and half will be my Kona Cotton orange, purple, and green.

I am going to be 'quilting in sections' so there will be little bars between the sections.

I know this quilt was not done in segments, but it's the inspiration for my setting...

I haven't decided yet whether to have these be one of the colors I'm already using (O, P, G), or if they will be red to match the thread that I think I am going to use for the quilting, or a charcoal or ash Kona.

The back of each section will be the Kona Cotton too.

Thanks again to everyone who sent me blocks!

My blocks are all here!

Saturday I received blocks from Trudi, and today my blocks from Krista arrived and so all my blocks are present and accounted for. I have almost finished a UFO...just need to bind it in the morning and then I hope to have some time to play with making some June blocks.

Next year at this time I will be frantically sewing wedding dresses as my DD, Katy will be getting married August 5, 2011, and the plan is for me to make all of the dresses: Bride, 3 bridesmaids, 1 jr, bridesmaid and 2 flower girls...and mother of the bride (ME!). I may try to keep up with the lotto anyway, just to have some simple stress free sewing....quilt blocks fit if you make them the size of the pattern, but dresses...well, patterns don't fit everyone, so I am going to be drafting my own patterns to the girl's measurements...

I received my final 3 blocks today...

... from Trudi! Thanks everyone. Here they are waiting to be assembled into something fabulous.

Blocks (hopefully) flying over the pond

I'm just back from the Post Office, my blocks are on their way Laura, Debbie and Michelle.  Hopefully they won't have to fight with the Ash cloud for airspace.  It is hoped to have cleared by tomorrow.  I hope you like them.  My sincere apologies for the delay.

Sorry for the delay, been a a tough month so far and completely spaced it.  But they were mailed on Saturday.

Blocks arrived in tornado torn Oklahome today

Today I received blocks from Lois (UK) and Linda (Dallas, TX). SO nice to get cheery blocks with the dreary weather we have been having here. It's been raining pretty much since Monday, when the tornadoes came through. We came through unscathed...the nearest tornado touched down 3 -4 miles from us...actually 2 tornadoes...and wiped out the grocery store where my 21 yr. old daughter was going to work this summer. Now if we need something from the grocery store it will mean a 20+ mile drive each way. Hopefully they will rebuild quickly! Today I went to Barnes and Noble to spend the gift cards my kids gave me for Mother's Day and bought Liberated Quiltmaking 2, by Gwen Marston. Maybe it will provide inspiration for using the blocks I won! I had previously decided I didn't need the book enough to justify the cost, but since I can't buy groceries or pay bills with a Barnes and Noble Card I splurged. I think that's what the kids had in mind when they chose that gift!

oops

Lois Addy I am so sorry , I only saw the name on the envelope.
And couldnt see what the name on the post card.

Also, I wanted to thank you for the post card I collect them....

Again thanks for the beautiful blocks.

Debbie

blocks are on their way!

The lady at the post office was NOT happy with me when I brought my crate full of things to mail (I'd been procrastinating because of how much I had and how I hate to part with $ of course unless it's related to fabric!) during my lunch. Included in there were my blocks to the winners. Sorry it took me so long but I wanted all the pain at once at the post office! They were sent first class, so 5ish days?

Recd blocks from Addie

Thanks for the beautiful blocks..

Especially the colors...

Thanks again Addie from UK
