I'm happy to be able to finally post my completed quilt from blocks I won in June 2009. It was a Quilter's Choice in 1930s reproductions. I found a striped fabric that I thought would be good for the multicolored blocks, and then used orange/white quarter square triangles for the setting squares. It is such a cheerful quilt. Thanks to everyone who participated that month and every month. And, as always, thanks to our leader Sophie who makes it all possible. Kathie L in Allentown

Sampler top
Here's a photo of the quilt top I put together from the blocks I won a couple of months back. I couldn't think of anything brilliant to do with the blocks, so I went with the traditional sashing method. I think it came out very well and I can't wait to see it quilted!
Thanks for the great blocks,
Ginny

A few more 30's sampler blocks
Since I had some 30's fabrics out, I couldn't resist making a few more of my favorite lotto blocks in 30's repros . . . and appease my Hostess guilt over never making blocks last month.
I think I may have some sort of fabric addiction when it comes to 30's repros . . . it was really bugging me that I wasn't able to make blocks last month.
From left-to-right, top-to-bottom, the blocks are Stamp Basket, Julie's Boomerette, Ohio Star, my "Amish" House, Scrappy Heart, Oklahoma Boomer, Maple Leaf, Annie's Choice and Cactus Pot. I love remaking some of our favorites and "breaking" the original rules, like I did for the Ohio Star, Amish House and Cactus Pot . . . I'm such a rebel ;-)
I figure if I send these all to Ginny, she'll end up with a total one short of my target of a ideal set size of 48 blocks for each of our block lotto winners. Win-win and I've satisfied my 30's itch, too ;-)

Kathy's blocks
Kathy made these blocks really early this month, but we had some problems between us in email and I never got the images.
She tried again this morning and it worked. Yay! Our total-so-far this month is 131 blocks–enough for THREE WINNERS!

Welcome Marie
Marie has joined the block lotto and made these eight blocks . . . she has one more in progress.
Welcome Marie! We're glad you found us and decided to play.
Marie's blocks and Rho's bring our total-so-far this month to 122 blocks. We're 10 blocks away from enough for a third winner . . . anyone else thinking of making any last minute blocks besides me?

Kate's blocks for June
Finally got ahold of some 30s repros, so here are a few (ok, 9) blocks for the lotto... However, I'm not a big 30s person, so I'll donate my chances this month... Good luck ladies!

Some extra for donation
I made a few extra this month that I offered to Sylvia, thinking that she might not have the time or inclination to sew. But fortunately she made a group of her own, so these six can go into the donation pot.

3 blocks done
Hi all,
I have completed 3 blocks so far for this month lotto. I have done Churn dash blocks. Patterns were adapted from the quilterscache website from Marcia Hohn's free patterns. I had some left-over 30s fabrics from a Spring Fling swap I did on the Dear Jane list a couple of years ago.
Hopefully I will be able to post more blocks soon.

Mary Jane's June Blocks
I didn't think I'd have time, but I got bored with the other project and took time for these 9. Hope they will do.

Kathie's 30's Sampler
Grandmother's Flower Garden was one of my choices since it is done in 30's fabric so frequently. I liked the Thrifty block of a few months ago, and it seems well suited to these fabrics also. My third choice was just something that worked well with small strips. The colors look a little washed out in the photo - they are really quite cheerful!

Here are 4 blocks for this months lotto. The bowties are 3-D and I enjoyed making them. I'm not sure if I will have time to make more blocks before the end of the month. I'm going to the MN Quilt Show in Duluth and will be there for 5 days!

Here are my first 3 blocks for the June lotto.
I like the 30's reproduction fabrics!
It was challenging to decide which blocks to make. The remaining ones are under construction!

Quilter's Choice in 30's Repro's for June
In June, we are going to be repeating last year’s very popular QUILTER’s CHOICE event. The lotto block will be your choice(s) of 6 inch (finished size) block in 30’s reproductions on white-on-white (WOW) backgrounds.
There are some GUIDELINES for your choice and they are a little complicated, so please read the rest of this message CAREFULLY.
First, for the fabrics, If you are unclear about what 30’s reproduction fabrics look like, check out this pool of photos on Flickr:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/ 30sfabrics/
Note: If you do not have 30’s repros in your stash and do not want to add 30’s repros to your stash, but have fabrics that you believe will blend with these fabrics, feel free to use them–look for some example of no-30's fabrics that work pretty well.
For the blocks themselves:
Here are the blocks made by sneek peekers Barbara, Debbie, Ginny and Sharon . . . how about a virtual row wall quilt:

For the blocks themselves:
- When choosing block patterns, please keep in mind that our overall theme for the year is traditional block patterns. Our winners next month should end up with a nice stack of traditional looking blocks for a nice 30’s sampler quilt.
- Pieced blocks must consist of at least 7 pieces. So, you cannot make a 4-patch or a snowball block, for example, but you can make a framed 4-patch, or a block made from 4 snowball blocks.
- Appliqué blocks may have fewer pieces. All edges must be turned under.
- You can make the same block pattern for up to three blocks, for example, three stamp basket blocks, three house blocks, three framed pinwheel blocks for the usual maximum of 9 blocks.
- The usual rules of NOT making identical blocks (same fabrics) apply. If you repeat fabrics, be sure to do it in a way so you don’t end up with matching blocks. We want the winner(s) to be able to make great scrappy album style 30’s repro quilts. Pleasee mix it up in your blocks and keep them nice and scrappy,
