Creative and Simple

Today the boys and I made Cheerio Star Fishes. It is a simple little project for preschoolers that I found on this awesome website http://www.executivehomemaker.com/content.asp?pid=145&id=541 They have a lot of cool ideas for all different sorts of things. I realized that just because I am not very crafty doesn't mean we can't do things to spark their creativity.

I love that it doesn't take much to entertain kids. There is also this cool book that has lots of ideas for things to do with your kids- of all ages, that doesn't require any tv, or electronics. It's called Unplugged Play by Bobbi Conner. I like how it turns play into something so simple and easy.

The boys have so many toys but never play with them. Instead they get excited over paperclips and couch cushions.

Speaking of which- here is what my living room always looks like. Everyday I turn on music, usually the Polar Express soundtrack and they go nuts. They make pyramids, parks, beds, ect. with the couch cushions and blankets. I have learned not to waste my time picking up until the end of the day because within ten minutes it goes back to this. I used to hate the mess but now I enjoy it because they are being who the are and are having fun. I wish I was their age again!

I Love Flannel Sheets

It is getting cold here in North Dakota and I am such a wuss. Being a Phoenix native has totally spoiled me for the cold. We had a huge hole in our bed sheets so I picked up some light blue flannel sheets at Walmart. They were cheap so I didn't think they would be that great but I got them anyway. They are FABULOSO! They are soooooooo soft and keep us warm. I love them! I never had flannel in Phoenix- is this a new invention? The only thing that I don't like about the sheets is that your drool leaves marks all over them- not my drool of course- the boys. Yes, they have been sleeping with us but save the lectures!

What is your favorite product for the fall or winter?

PoPo pulled us over

Yesterday Cody had the day off so we decided to go to Bismarck for the day. On the way there we got pulled over. No, we weren't speeding. No, our tags weren't expired and we weren't swerving. We didn't have enough license plates on our car. When we got our North Dakota plate- there were two that came. Being from AZ where you only need one plate on the back- I thought the other one was extra in case someone stole the other one. In North Dakota you need one on the front and the back. OOPS! Luckily we got a warning. Luckily our kids didn't realize their parents were breaking the law because they were too busy watching Meet the Robinsons on the portable dvd player. They didn't take their eyes off it! Thank goodness for technology.

So I have two questions for anyone reading this- If you were in my situation would you have known that you need two plates on your car, and, have you ever gotten pulled over with your kids in the car? If you have I would love to hear details!

The things they say

Well I just wanted to take a moment to share the things my boys have been saying lately. Jackson has discovered what friends are and now all day he tells me "Momma you're my buddy." "Momma you're my friend." I know- it makes my heart melt. Today Ki told me that Daddy was his buddy and I asked him if I was his buddy too. He reluctantly said yes and Jackson immediately came running over shouting "No Momma, you're my my buddy." (That's not a typo, the boys always say "my" twice when claiming ownership on something or someone).

Then the other night at bedtime Ki had to go to the bathroom. He is scared of bathrooms now- mostly the whole house, so I had to go in with him. WARNING- you may get grossed out! He started to tell me that his poop was going to get all over the floor and he would stomp on it and get his new spiderman flipflops dirty so we would have to go buy him some pink ones. (I'm so bad with runon sentences). He is so determined to get pink in his wardrobe he is now making up stories! Oh how I love my boys!

Gone Fishin'

Cody had been promising the boys for a lond time now that he would take the boys fishing and yesterday we did! Cody did all the work, I just took the pictures and made sure they didn't fall in the water! Ki picked out a Spiderman pole and Jackson picked Shrek. The fish weren't out but the boys were too into the worms to care. I'm so blessed that Cody is such a guy's guy because if it were just me the boys wouldn't even know what a worm is let alone hold one and squeeze it too tight. Here are some amateur pics of the boys and the scenery. In the pics look for Jackson's ice cream mustache and for all the pics check out the slideshow.

I Need Help

I am one day going to start another blog that has tips and ideas and recipes and is really cool. I want to make it so that people can contribute their tips and ideas into one spot. I love blogs that have a little bit of everything and include other people because there are so many creative people out there. So I need help with names. If anyone has a name for the blog that they wouldn't mind me possibly stealing ( but possibly rejecting) and using then post your comment please! The only ideas I have so far are- Lil' Bits and Hot Mama ( the last one is totally Cody's and will not be used). Let me know what you think! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

Check Out My SlideShow

I went around Beach and took pics of the town. They are in the slideshow so be sure to check them out. There is a pic of our house which we are slowly painting and the dairy queen, library, and some other spots. I took them on a Saturday but if you look closely there are hardly any cars on the streets. The town is soooooooooo dead on the weekends. I think everyone leaves town. There are also some older pics of our garden too. So enjoy!

Another Day of Rain

Today it is suppossed to rain again!!!!! When will it end? I realized today that I need to be more grateful and not complain for all the rain we have had. At least we aren't caught up in some hurricane or flood, and I haven't had to water my garden in forever. That saves us money.

Last night I had a girls night at my house and played some really fun games and had lots of yummy treats. I will try to post some pics later. It was nice getting to know some new women from church. Poor Cody was stuck upstairs for two and half hours while we hung out. I don't really feel sorry for him though- he was on the internet the entire time.

Cody had some days off which was nice but he left about 1am this morning so it's just me and the boys. I have lots of leftover treats from last night and I promised the boys they could have some so today I thought we would have our own party and pig out and play games. They were so mad when they found out they couldn't go to my girls night so hopefully this will make up for it. I hope you all are having a great day!

Today I cut zucchini from our garden and had some for dinner! Yeah! The boys wouldn't eat it but I'll find a way to sneak it there food! Ki calls it zuccihnia. It's funny trying to hear him say " I don't like zuccihnia!" I have been working on painting our house. The other day I was so brave for about 5 seconds and climbed the ladder, got on the roof and painted the second story. I was feeling so proud of myself for conquering my fear of heights. Then when I ran out of paint I tried to get down but I was too scared. I waited for Cody to finally come out and he helped me but I cried like a baby! The boys knew mommy was sad! That is the first time they have seen me get scared and cry- but I told them daddy was my hero. They liked that.
