Birdies, Birdies and More Birdies!

If you told me a year ago that I would be making birds out of paper clay and loving it I would have said you were nuts!  Here I am- making birds and can't seem to make enough!!! If I had more time in my schedule I would have an aviary full of colorful, glittery, inspiring birdies! For now, I squeeze everything in, wherever and whenever possible! Here is a peek at some of my birdies that are almost finished and then will fly into my    shop!

These are the cute feet that I will paint for the birdie below.

Love this guy and his stick legs

This is my ladybug bird!

This little guy is drying upside down because I am decorating the bottom!

Until next time- Tweet, Tweet!!

My First Art Workshop!

I have never taken an art class, except for the one you take in Elementary school. I have always just made stuff I like to make. I have been dying to take one but they just don't offer what I consider interesting classes around here in Port St. Lucie, Fla.  They are all the traditional painting, drawing, watercolor, oils etc. I am currently taking an online class entitled, Canvas Create 2012- with Donna Downey. Each month she sends you a video that shows you how to create a canvas from beginning to end. I am loving it so far, but have to admit I am a bit behind! :-) The link for this class is above if you are interested in checking it out! I highly recommend it!

Soon after I started taking this online course from her I discovered she was coming to do a workshop in Port St. Lucie!!!! She is teaching a workshop called, "The Big 40"! We will be learning over 40 tips, tricks and techniques for mixed media! I am stoked!
A great opportunity to expand my knowledge! I am going with my girlfriend this Friday night and should have a blast. I will definitely do a post on  this experience!

Until next time- never stop learning!!!

I Feel Good! Da na na na nuh!

In case you did not get it, the title  post is a James Brown reference because I am doing super happy dances!!
I finally finished my first "Rebel Fairy"!  Between all the hats I wear, sometimes the artist hat gets neglected! This is definitely a hat I need to put on more often because it makes me so stinkin' happy! I took some pics to give you guys a sneak peak. Really quite horrible pictures but I just could not contain myself. I'll take better ones tomorrow in the sunshine!
This is the base that I painted then crackled.

I stamped the crackle and then glued pretty little stones all around the edge.

Don't mess with a Fairy!!!

Here's my girl!

The second piece of most awesome news is that my soaps were featured in 3 collections this week!!!
One entitled, "Perfect Shades of Purple"  ,  "Have You Checked in Today?"  , "Fun Yellows and Oranges"

I also created my first collection on Artfire that made it to the feature front page!!!
I definitely feel the Universe telling me I am heading in the right direction and that all my work is starting to pay off!!

Be patient, the Universe says. Keep spending all your time with your precious girls and fit art in when you can. Before you know it, you will have more time to create. But continue what you are doing and savior that time. I promise- The Universe

Until next time- savor each precious moment.

Rebel Fairies

I am almost finished with my first piece in my Rebel Fairies series! Here is a sneak peak. Hope to finish her tonight and get started on a new one! She has a cute little stand that she is fixin' to go in!
Hope Monday is treating Y'all well!

Until next time-

Canvas a Month Class

I signed up to take The Canvas a Month class from Donna Downey. It is totally affordable and I am learning all kinds of new techniques! Each month she has a video where she shows you how to make 1 canvas. I just finished my January canvas! ( I know, it's March- but I have very little creative time with a 4 and 5 year old!) If you are interested in her online classes- CLICK HERE!

Here are pics of my January canvas.

So much fun and it great adding new techniques to my creative library!
Again- if you want to check out these e-courses- head on over to Donna Downey!

Until next time- keep learning!

Fall in Florida

I live on the Treasure Coast of Florida which is roughly located in between Orlando and Miami. We do have a change of seasons here but we don't really get all those pretty fall leave colors. There is this one tree that is right outside of my patio that does change colors every year- it is very odd. Every year the leaves change, fall off and grow back. Once it did that twice in a winter, I thought for sure it was a goner!!!
This is the tree!

The other day I received a great surprise in the mail from my friend Tipsie! She is a lifecaster over on Justin TV. You should go check her out! Any who- she sent me this awesome Aerogarden! In the new year the girls and I are going to try our hand at growing some herbs. It will be very cool for the girls to grow something from seed and then be able to eat it!!!

This is the Aerogarden from Tipsie!

Last of all, I am working on this piece that I am desperately trying to finish as soon as possible. I have to adhere my lady and I have a phrase I would like to write on the canvas. I have been putting it off a bit because I have to fit the phrase within a certain area- and if I "F" up, well then, I am totally "F-ed" Get my drift? I guess at one point I will just have to throw caution to the wind and do it- whatever happens, happens!

OK- I cannot figure out how to put these 2 pics side by side!!! LOL!! Another lesson for another time!
