To run or not to run

I havent posted in over a week! So...what's been happening? Life's been busy.

Firstly, i am trying to decide whether to enter the Glasgow Women's 10k. A couple of women from work are and i would love to get fit and run for a charity but i hate running! Its painful...it hurts my throat, gives me chest pain, headache....give me any other sport any day. All that aside, we did begin training! On Wednesday we went out for 25mins at lunchtime. Thursday and Friday i went out by myself after work. I can run for about 13minutes without stopping at the moment which is pretty rubbish LOL Everytime im out running i think to myself "there's no way im running the 10k" but then i get home and have a rest and feel good for doing exercise and i think "yep, i'm definitely doing the 10k."

In other news, DH is going home to Canada on Wednesday for 2 weeks. All a bit of a last minute decision. Its our nephews 1st birthday on the 15th so he really wanted to be home for that plus the winter weather over here of rain, grey skies, rain, rain and more rain really gets to him! He needs that blue sky and snow! So i'll be dateless on valentines! Im actually thinking of following him over on the 21st just for a week. Then we can travel home together on the 27th. I can't decide what to do (can you tell im bad with decisions). I can't get 2 weeks of work at the moment, im too busy. The annoying thing is you pay the same for 1 week as you do for 2. However, the flights are a good price at this time of year. I'll decide this weekend!

On Wednesday we started a new youth club at our church. We have one on a Sunday but there are too many teenagers coming along now who need something else. So we are running a youth club every Wednesday night which i have to go to straight from work. Its a huge commitment as the youth work is generally left in the hands of 3 of us and we have to drag other people to help out. Seeing as our church has about 40members, its a shame noone else will commit.

So all this has left virtually no time for stitching this week. In fact, the only piece i did work on was my Dear Diary SAL. Here's this weeks progress (basically the house and the grass)This lighthouse really looks like one about 10mins away from where we live. This is the Cloch lighthouse. See the similarities?!Today will be a cleaning / tidying day and then tonight we are going to our friends house for dinner which'll be nice. Have a great weekend!

Weekend Update

It was the 23rd February that i last posted a Dollhouse progress picture, so here's the latest. I know i say it everytime but i'll say it again, i love it! I have a free evening tonight and i was planning on starting one of my pieces for my Pay It Forward but i sat down to start and realised i don't have the floss i need so it'll have to wait and i'll do some more on Dollhouse instead :)

I went to the craft fair yesterday and had a great day. It's a bit of a con to be honest because although they call it "International craft and hobby fair" it's really just one hall full of hundreds of stalls devoted to papercraft (mostly card-making) and another hall for stitching. The stitching hall wasn't spectacular, it was just hundreds of stalls with the same DMC/Anchor/Coats kits at everyone. I did find a couple of great stalls that sold fabric at a great price, another stall with loads of gorgeous beads, another stall with great accessories such as needleminders etc and another stall with great quilts and fabrics. The embroiders guild stand was also great with amazing pieces of work on display. My mum is really into papercraft so she was quite happy with that hall. I can see how it would be a papercrafters paradise. I was disappointed that it was only papercraft in the main "craft hall," i was hoping to see loads of different crafts in there. Never mind, we were there for about 5 hours so we had a good time and most importantly i got stash which always makes me feel good!
Not the best picture but i bought...3 kits (only 2 in the picture as another is a gift i'm going to stitch), 2 packets of beads, lots of clear plastic folders for my floss, some new scissors, a needle holder and lots of linen. I justified the expense by claiming it was my "birthday money," which it was!

After seeing the quilting stalls i really would love to get into that as well. As it so happens, at the next ladies night at our church a lady is coming to do a quilting demonstration. So there you go, it's meant to be!

Rain, rain and more rain

I know it's kinda boring to blog about the weather. However, our weather has been so unbelievably bad recently i have to mention it. I think it's rained every day since the 5th November. I know this because the 4th was my sister's wedding and that was a beautiful sunny day. The last beautiful sunny day i can remember. The last 3 days have been particularly bad (like new years) with terrible storms and flooding. Tonight we decided to stay in instead of going out to meet some friends and typically, the weather has knocked the tv signal out (again!)

Our kids club starts again tomorrow. 4 of us were out today visiting our regulars to let them know it was starting again and leafleting new houses (in the pouring rain) to try and get some new kids to come along. Our theme this block is "junior heroes" and ive spent the last few hours cutting out super hero name badges which they can colour and stick safety pins on. Ive attached a photo but it's quite dark. What a way to spend a saturday evening! We always start the first week back after a holiday with a party so i'll have to plan some party games in a minute. After that, i plan to watch a dvd with my hubby and do some more work on my "nice day for ducks" piece which im stitching for a friend's baby. Shes due in 3weeks so need to get moving!

Love and Cross Stitch

Someone spoke about this in church this morning and i thought it was nice so i'll share it here. We were thinking about showing love to people that are hard to like, let alone love, and we were challenged to 1) think about that person 2) find one thing that you admire/find positive about them and 3) give them 100% encouragement/praise for that thing. The 101% method. I'll try it at work tomorrow with the person who really bugs me!

I finished my cross stitch. It looks really cool. Im very proud of it. I started it a year or so ago, forgot about it and picked it up again at the beginning of the Christmas holidays and got it finished. Its a pressie for someone so i'll wait until i give it to them before i post a picture of it. I went straight to the craft shop (don't laugh!) and bought my next one to start for Becky's baby! I love my new hobby even if im being ridiculed for it by certain friends who shall, for now, remain nameless. Although i must find somewhere cheaper to buy these cross stitches as my local craft shop is a rip off!
