WIPocalypse for March 2023

First, this is a fun SAL to show posts of your WIPs. It is hosted by Melissa over at Measi's Musings.

You can find posts about this SAL on her site or Facebook.

The question of the month is where do you shop?  The real question is where DON'T I shop! I have a new shop in my area called BeStitchedMe , and I have found some nice fabric and threads there.

Sassy Jacks is also a place I frequent along with Needle in A Haystack . Both have a great variety of threads and linens...And Patterns!

This month I tried to stitch on Blue Larkspur by Avlea Folk Embroidery every day as part of the March challenge.

Here is where I started:

And where I finished:

I also finished my Doodle Drawn Thread Sampler by Gay Ann Rogers:

AND the first sampler in my 17th Century Whitework Sampler class by Thistle Threads:

Not a bad month for stitching.

Can I get this done before the end of the month?

The People's Choice- January 2023

Well, this is another SAL hosted by Jo over at Serendipitous Stitching.

I think my designer of the year will be- Gay Ann Rogers. Surprise. Surprise.

I have quite a few of her kits that haven't been started along with several that I have started.

Here are the ones that I really want to stitch this year:

The nest heart in the America series-

 Both the Drawn Thread Samplers:

 Betsy Ross Needlecase:

I hope to work on something I've already started, but who knows what the new year will bring!

D is for Drawn Thread

No, I still haven't touched this piece this year, but I thought I would share it anyway. It is such a beautiful piece that I really should pull it out and give it some love!

And here is the Doodle Sampler!

Drawn Thread Sampler

I am ready to re-start stitching on my Drawn Thread Sampler. Here is where I left off:
I have lots left on this piece, but I feel more confident now that I stitched the Doodle piece.
Here it is for a comparison.
The large square still needs to be done, but I will wait until I do the large sampler for it.

I Put the Date On, So Now I HAVE to Finish!

I have been working on this so I can get it done! I ripped the square that isn't cut at least 3 times! Crazy!
My initials, or my "mark" is on top right with the year underneath. I need to be calm and undisturbed to do it. I also have the large square to do.
Do you see my house row? I did not count correctly and I have a roof with no building. Oh well.

Gifted Gorgeousness and My Maynia

First, I did not post last week as my college guys were home and we did lots of yard work and things around the house. They tired me out, but it was wonderful to see them. Hopefully we will get another visit around the 4th of July.

First, have any of you had this happen?
I lost the screw on my hoop. It is either in the bottom of my bag or at the doctor's office. Oh well. I have another hoop and they are fairly cheap.

Here is where I left off on my Gifted Gorgeousness last time:
And here is where I am today:
It is my take along project.
I have been working on my samplers from Gay Ann Rogers Monday thru Thursday and Reptiles on the weekend. That seems to work fairly well for me.
Here is my band from the Doodle Sampler:
That took awhile. Now I need to do some needleweaving.
And here is Reptiles:
I have a bunch of confetti to fill in and that is taking a bit. But I love seeing the progress.
I will try to check in again before the end of the week.  I think there should be a TUSAL soon!

Maynia Progress

Well, it isn't much progress, but at least I was able to take a few stitches.
I did not like the band as Gay Ann Rogers graphed it so I decided to change it a bit. I think all those blank squares need tiny eyelets in them. As my friend Mary suggested, I need to do a practice bit on the side to make sure I like it. Once those eyelets are in, they are IN!
How is your Maynia going? Hope you are able to challenge yourself and enjoy the craziness. Happy stitching!

Maynia Has Begun!

I cannot start a new project. I want to, but I have too many large projects started. I went and searched my basement and looked at all my WIPS and just could not start a new one. At least not yet. I have a feeling I will start a new small soon, but we will see.
Here is my "plan": I am going to work during the week on one of my Drawn Thread Samplers by Gay Ann Rogers. They need to get done and since Maynia is about challenging oneself, these are perfect. These pieces live in my basement because they scare me, but I am going to get them done!

And look at how the samplers are wonky! So sad. Do I need to take the off and re-stretch them? Probably. Which is how I will spend my first stitching day...
On the weekends, I plan on stitching on Reptiles. I want to get some progress on it and I really do like it.
I will post if I make any noticeable progress during the week. Happy Maynia!

Day 11- Keeping in Shape and WIPs

This is my start for day 11. A friend commented that it really doesn't count if I haven't taken a stitch on the piece.....Oh well. I need this on my list so it can be done in 2017.
Here are the pieces I am currently stitching:

Debbie's Ultimate Crazy Jan/Feb Challenge 2017

Unlike some of the ladies who do this, I will only be "working on" 31 pieces this year. Some will be new starts, but most will be WIPs or part of my stash that I need to do.

By the way, out of the 34 "starts" ( I didn't put a needle to some of them), I finished 18. Or at least I got them stitched.  One of these days I should post them all.  And when I actually finish some of the ornaments, I will show them too...

DAY 1
Yep. My first is Doodle Drawn Thread Sampler. It is supposed to be stitched by February 14,2017 but I doubt that will happen. I think I will be making a $10 donation to my local EGA.

So what are you stitching in the new year?

A Little Done

I call these needle woven pieces 'angel wings'. They were a pain and I can see mistakes, but this is my Doodle, so I am fine with it.

One of Three Projects

I am currently working on both of these at once. The top one is the real deal, the Drawn Thread Sampler. I like doing the stitching one I get started. The one below is the Doodle Drawn Thread Sampler. I realized that if I truly want to do both, I need to use the Doodle as a practice piece and get cracking on the pre-work for the DTS. I have a friend who is holding me accountable as we need to have our pieces done before February. She is not as crazy as I am since she is only doing the large sampler. But she has done a lot of drawn thread before.

Drawn Thread Sampler Some Progress

The top photo is the real Drawn Thread Sampler. I had hoped to get some work done on it, but I needed to finish the bottom row on the Doodle Drawn Thread Sampler. I managed to get it done before it started storming.
Next week is my local guild's meeting and I need to be ready to teach. That means that I probably won't work on this for a few days, but it has moved back upstairs and back into my rotation.

Still Working

I have started one of the large bands on the Doodle Sampler.  Lots of coral knots and then I need to add needle weaving.

Gay Ann Rogers is Back!

In honor of her return I was going to start a new heart.  But then I remembered that I have two of her drawn thread samplers started.  She discusses them on her webpage when she discusses pearl cotton.  Mine is being worked on linen and coton a broder. Both are DMC threads but the stuff I am using is softer.  I wish I had stuck with congress cloth and the pearl cotton on this piece, which is how Gay Ann originally stitched it.  The congress cloth is easier for me to see and I like the definition the pearl cotton gives. Oh well, I am not starting this piece again.

Doodle Drawn Thread Progress

So while the A to Z Challenge was going on, I did manage to stitch a bit.  I need to decide what I am going to do in some of the sections, but I am making some progress on this piece.

I Should Not Use Scissors

I know I can fix this, but what a pain!!!I will have to do a different stitch in this square. I need to cut more threads and add a thread back in so I can do the Ruskin Lace in this section.  I think I will wait until I get the other square cut before I decide what I do.

Fixing a Mistake

I am trying to fix my mistake on the Drawn Thread Sampler.  I cut two threads, not one. Thank goodness they need to be cut anyway, but I need to fix it so I can put the buttonhole back in and the 4-sided stitch in. It takes lots of light and patience, both in short supply around here.  I really want to pull up a new project and ignore this one.  But I know I will love this piece once I get this section fixed.

Another Band Started

I do love this white work piece.  I just don't think I am doing the greatest job at it.  But since this is just the doodle sampler and there is another larger sampler ahead of me,I try to keep plugging along.  I am also anxious to start one of my Scarlet Letter samplers, but have too many things in my rotation right now.  How does Linda keep up with all her new starts?  I would go crazy!  Or crazier than I already am!
