Monarch by Mandy

Happy Hello Berry71Bleu Fans!

Mandy here popping in to share my take on this month's "Leaves in Layers" challenge and I thought it's a perfect time to create something "Autumn" inspired!
Well I didn't actually layer leaves but I layered the beautiful diamond shaped chippies supplied by Creative Embellishments "click here" - This month's  design team sponsor! Thank you!
I added stamp work in the shape of diamonds - A very COOL stamp from "Creative Embellishments"  I just dab my finger in the paint and tap it against the stamp....If I get too much paint on the stamp I put the excess on used paper....I didn't add paper or fabric leaves but I did add some to the left of the page using a bright yellow paint....

The beautiful moodboard below shows lush leaves full of rich colors!
I wanted to incorporate the below colors in to my project .....I can't believe October is almost over!

Creative Embellishments is sponsoring the design team this month with some gorgeous chipboard, rubber stamps and more......

Time Flies by Cathi

Hi! Cathi here today sharing my take on Sandra's August sketch. This month we were generously sponsored by Creative Embellishments and by the ChantalVandenberg Etsy Shop!  I even based the color scheme of my layout on Chantal's gorgeous Flower Dreamer Embellishment felt embellishments I used!

Here you can see the fun  #SUMMER chippie I used from the Social Hash Tag chipboard set.  Sandra's sketch has a very modern look so I went for modern shaped chippies, like the Time Flies Frame Set and the Squares set.

I used the adorable Flower Dreamer Embellishment from Chantal in two places. I painted my chipboard  in a blue to match the embellishments and used a fun pink Scrap Cake paper from my stash that fit in perfectly. Because I had to add some of my usual touches I used a Prima Circles mask and some Shimmerz Texturez to make my background and of course added a few flowers!

I hope you will find the time to play along with this challenge. Here is Sandra's sketch:

If you have clicked on one of my creations and smiled then I consider my work a success! My name is Chantal and I live in beautiful Adelaide, South Australia. Heartbreaker by Kay

Good morning fellow Berry71Bleu fans!  Kay here with my interpretation of this month's challenge.  I've created this layout based on a sketch provided by fellow DT member Sandra Przybylska.

This is my son when he was about 6 months old.  I put one of my husband's baseball caps on him & I was able to capture this wonderful shot of him peeking out from under the hat with one eye.  He's my little 'heartbreaker'.  This is one of my favorite photos!  :-)

August Sketch by Sandra Przybylska

Here's the sketch that you much use in order to participate in this month's challenge.  It's simple but versatile.  One can interpret the elements of this sketch in a variety of different ways.

I've used felt embellishments generously provided by Chantal Vandenberg--one of our sponsors this month & owner of an Etsy shop that provides many felt embellishments in a variety of themes.
Here's a closeup of a felt mushroom by Chantal Vandenberg.  How cute & befitting for my page.
Here's another felt embellishment by Chantal & the yellow felt clouds are also by Chantal.  I've tucked several different embellishments all along my page that represent both little baby boys (such as the punched yellow elephant seen here) & more masculine embellishments (such as the bow tie & mustache) to represent the 'little man' he's slowly growing up to be.
The 'Heartbreaker' title & the large steampunk hot air balloon are chipboard pieces provided by another one of our sponsors for this month 'Creative Embellishments'.  Here's a closeup of the hot air balloon.  It was first painted in white paint, then red.  I spread a bit of transparent glitter paint & finished it off by adding a light coat of crackle paint.

Now onto the sponsors for this month & all the wonderful prizes up for grab.  Good luck to all who participate...

Adventure By Kay

Good morning fellow scrappers!  Kay here with my interpretation of the February 'mixed media' challenge hosted by fellow DT member Mandy. When I see the term 'mixed media' I always think of 'messy fun'.  Needless to say I ended up going into the office for two days straight with blue fingers because of this page.  I ended up getting the dark blue mist onto my fingers & it decided to stay there for a few!

Here I am with my cousin who visited me from my homeland of Chile just this past Spring.  We're standing on top of the Empire State Building taking 'selfies'.  The title of the page 'Adventure' is really meant for my cousin since visiting the USA was a first for her & a very memorable adventure.

Here's a recap of the challenge...

Mixed media, in visual art, refers to an artwork in the making of which more than one medium has been employed. For this challenge, create a "mixed media" page, canvas, card, etc. using more than one medium. Example: paints, mists, textured paste, gesso, chalks, inks, rubs, embossing powder, and more!

Let's see, I ended up using a couple of techniques & mediums on this page.  I used mists, inks, modeling paste, embossing & a touch of gesso. I also did some stamping which in my little world, I consider to be a form of mixed media as well.  It's amazing the different effects you can get from stamping.

I tucked a kraft bag behind my trio of photos & created a tag to store in it which holds my journaling.  The blue flower shown here was actually all white.  I spritzed it with dark blue mists & spread a bit of gesso on it.

I'm a big fan of layers & tend to add them in abundance to my pages when possible--here you can see how the layers 'pop' off the page I bit.  I use foam dots to give my layers a bit of dimension.

A combo of modeling paste, stamping, misting & inking.

For the Molossi 'Bird Branch' chipboard--I didn't do much to it--I kept it in the raw since the natural color of the chipboard went with my page.  I just added some highlights to the leaves with a white gel pen & heat embossed the whole chipboard with Star Dust Translucent Embossing Powder by Stampendous.  This gave the chippie a shimmery effect that 'pops' off the page.
