Stanley Kubrick? Spike Lee? Walt Disney? The list of the world's most talented movie producers is now enhanced by none other than gritty Yorkshire-born film pioneer, Yorkshire Pudding who in his esoteric very first movie "Koh Lanta" expertly stitches together fragments from his recent five day shoot in southern Thailand to produce a remarkable piece of cinematography that has got the critics buzzing from L.A. to Bombay. Special permission for the Adele soundtrack came from Adele herself who said, "It is an honour to be associated with such a talented film producer and I have always naturally been attracted to Yorkshiremen anyway - they're so sexy!" Composer Bob Dylan said "Thankya! Thankya!". So blogworld - enjoy or sleep!...

So there I was standing in the kitchen of our son's terraced house. Something caught my eye outside in his little urban garden. It was a...
Magnificent! Simultaneously Oscar-worthy (cinematography, film editing, short documentary). Grammy-worthy (perfect blending of footage with soundtrack), and -- as even Helsie in Queensland would agree -- Tony-worthy. You went to the ends of the earth to make us feel your love.
ReplyDeleteNot bad, not bad at all! The place looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteRHYMES WITH PLAGUE You are so right and don't worry - when I get to the top I will not forget the little guys who helped me on my way.
ReplyDeleteHIPPO Getting praise out of you is like getting blood out of the proverbial stone so "Not bad" will do nicely. By the way, your little video clips inspired me. I thought to myself "Well if that earthy fellow can make a movie, then surely it cannot be so hard!"
Hope you've honed your acceptance speech?

One of my classes made action movie trailers last term in class while I was on leave. I can't help but wonder what a mashup of your movie trailer and theirs might look like?
ReplyDeleteVery atmospheric, YP and I loved the music. :)
ReplyDeleteLETTICE Gee whizz! This is totally unexpected. I'd like to thank everyone who helped me to reach this lofty pinnacle, my wife and children, Lettice Leaf and Bobby-Jo Brague at "Stupendous Films" and of course the people of Yorkshire who made me what I am - a big-headed numbskull!
ReplyDeleteCAROL CUNNINGHAM Why not do it Carol? You have my permission and "Stupendous Films" have okayed it too.
JENNY Thank you.
Y.P., the saying is not "You can't get blood out of a stone," it's "You can't get blood out of a turnip," at least where I live.
ReplyDeleteI accept the challenge Sir YP. My research tells me that Koh Lanta is the French version of Survivor ~ and of course we might add Adele's Skyfall to the mix.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful....but given the song I did expect to see a picture of Shirley smiling in the last shot YP!
ReplyDeleteRHYMES WITH PLAGUE The Georgian spelling of "stone" is very odd.
ReplyDeleteCAROL CUNNINGHAM I was trying to add a comment to your Google People thingamajig but the system wouldn't let me in. Maybe I am unclean?
LIBBY Shirley will be in my next film - "All My Loving". Unfortunately, she wasn't with me on Koh Lanta.
Well done YP and a great choice of soundtrack. You must have made a huge amount of money while you were teaching in that school to be able to afford Adele.
ReplyDeleteHELEN What? Adele had to pay me!
