Ruby Rock-It Countdown to Christmas Part 2

Ho Ho Ho!
It's Christmas eve and I am sure the little elves are busy getting last minute things together.
I thought today I would give them a helping hand and create a fun little table decoration to spread a little cheer!

Products Used :

I just love the traditional colours of Ruby Rock-It's 25 Days of Christmas Range and all the embellishments that come with it.  I think the Candy Cane border stickers has to be my favourite.
I cut out some of the poinsettias from the paper and layered them up with foam pads to create a 3D flower.

Around the base I bent the tree trucks so that they could be tucked under the base and this allowed them to stand up straight.  The little star on the top of the house in from the Freckled Fawn November OhDeerMe Kit.

The top is decorate with white pom poms and I added a LED tea light in the centre for added sparkle.  I cut some of the stags/reindeer's from the sticker border and added them between the pom poms.

It's now time to head off and make sure everything is ready for Santa to visit,
I wish you a very Happy Christmas
and hope you have a fun time

Ruby Rock-It Countdown To Christmas Part 1

Good morning everyone I hope you are beginning to feel festive with the Countdown to Christmas!
Today I have a little way of jazzing up your fairy lights and if you are anything like me you probably have loads!!

NB : I understand that the LED lights are better to use and these should never be left unattended!

These little boxes are soooo easy to make.  Just take a square of paper, do a little bit of folding here and there and voila ... paper lanterns !!

You can find how to make these little water bombs (yes that is what they are called) {HERE}

I used 4 x 4 inch paper and made these, you can choose what ever size you like but do remember that the smaller the paper the more difficult it will be to fold it.  I was tickled by the way you blew into it and it just popped out into the box.

When the box was made up I decorated each of the fronts with some of the 25 Days of Christmas Border Stickers and some punched holly leaves from the paper.

To attach them to the lights you just gently push each bulb into the wee hole and wait till it's dark enough to turn them on to see you handy work.

Here are a couple of photos of them lit up (sorry they are not the best pics!!)

Hint of Christmas with Handi Scandi

Hello everyone, I'm here to share with you some cards I made using the cheerful Handi Scandi range.

The patterns in this range are brilliant and you are spoilt for choice from the patterns printed on white or kraft backgrounds.
I made this card using the tear drop paper which I punched a small hole either side so I could tie three strands of twine around.  Next I punched three circles from the Handi Scandi Meadows paper and added them to the twine and embellished them silver gems.

Supplies :
Twinery Twine - Marigold, Maraschino, Ocean Stripe

The card below mixes the kraft side of the paper with the more geometric side.  In the blue dotty paper I die cut some circles so I could use them as a window to show the lines of twine which I had glued to a strip of paper.

Supplies :
Twinery Twine - Gold Shimmer

And of course with Christmas around the corner there is a fab sheet with a glittered stag on it so I decided to change him in to Rudolph and made a little Christmas cheer to send!

The Countdown To Christmas Is On!

Time really does fly, no sooner has Halloween left flying off on her lonesome broom than we see the shops filled with reds and greens and all things that glitter and sparkle.  It can only mean one thing ....

{Christmas is on the way and I love Christmas!}

I have an advent calendar to help me get even more excited about the 24th of December when Santa comes to visit.  I know that the shelves are filled with advent calendars with chocolate waiting behind every door but I just love the ones with the simple bell, present or maybe a big bow which are revealed as the wee door is opened each day.

So when I was making some goodies to sell I created this

The papers I used here are the Papermania Country Companions Winter Wishes.  I love the colours and fun little designs on the papers.  I even dug out my Sizzix Smoothie Alphabet dies for the numbers!

I made it to look like a little drum.  The countdown are just blocks from my little peoples old toys ( I remember saying that I'll use them one day!!)

and of course the wee hedgie is just adorable clutching his poinsettia.  Adding a decoupage adds some texture to the base of the countdown.

After making a few of these I am hopeful that they will make other people smile as they count down to Christmas themselves.

Have a great day

Happy New Year and DCM!!

Wow, seriously?!  Where has this last month gone!!!
Needless to say I well and truly broke my new years resolution of updating my blog more on, er ..... day one!!

Well as they say better late than never, here I am to wish you a happy and crafty new year!!

I was delighted when late last year the lovely {Kathy Black} emailed me to ask if I would like to be a guest designer over on the {Daring Cardmakers (DCM) blog}.  Every Friday a new dare/challenge is posted and the amazing DT inspire you with their takes on the set dare.

So here are my creations for three of the dares in January

The Frill Of It All ~ 11 January 2013
This dare was to incorporate a frill on to you card.

I am so loving the {Vintage Notes} from Papermania.  To create the frill I used the {Vintage Notes Filigree Heart} and cut three out in baking parchment.  I scrunched each one and then layered them together securing them with a button in the centre. The rose and doily on the back is from the VN decoupage medley pack.

Embossability ~ 18 January 2013
This dare was to create texture using embossing of some kind

I totally adore the texture dry embossing gives to your creations.  Ink or sand it when embossed and you have a stunning back ground.  Saying that I used a technique where you build up your scene before putting it in the embossing folder.  For this card I cut a circle in some of {Ruby Rock-It Bella Fundamental Eklectique} range.  Next I embossed the edges of the circle with tinsel gold embossing powder and continued building up the scene, the bird and music script are from the {Papermania Urban Stamps - Bird Song}.  When it was all finished I put it through the {Papermania Secret Garden} embossing folder.

Setting The Scene ~ 25 January 2013
This was sponsored by DO Crafts.  We were sent one of the Xcut Build A Scene dies to make a card with and if you enter you could win one of the dies!!!

You SO need to look past the packaging on these cool dies as they are filled with all sorts of wonderful things that will unlock your creative imagination.  I was sent the {Vintage Hot Air Balloon}.  I used {My Little Shoebox's Vintage Shop} papers to create this card, I love the scripted clouds which cover the paper.

I found adding a little talc to these dies and dusting the talc around with a paint brush helped to get the fine details of this hot air balloon out.

Phew!  I've finally done it my first post of 2013!!
I hope you pop on over to the DCM blog and check out all the other DT's inspiration for these challenges and of course don't forget this Friday as there is another Dare due to go live!

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Ornaments

At the moment the decorations in our Christmas tree box are mainly little people makes from school. Lovingly painted with bright thick paint and a wide brush.  It is then followed with a huge dollop of glue and handfuls of chunky glitter.  Each year the glitter rubs away and they are beginning to look a bit bedraggled but still very much loved! And with no doubt they will be on the tree again this year, but there is no harm in making a few more is there!

Here are some little tree ornaments I made for the Kuretake Blog as this month the designers have been bringing you some inspiration for Christmas .....

These are made using the Basically Bare Holiday Ornaments.
They come as blank and are mixed media, so lots of scope.

You can find the details of how I made this ornament over on the blog.

I was also asked to use the Kurepunches when I was making the ornaments and I have to say I love these corner punches!  Such beautiful designs and you can remove the guide to allow you to punch rows of designs.  The little sparkle on the red card is the Zig Wink of Stella pens which are a must for a delicate sparkle.

Lastly here is the acrylic one which I embossed with a Tim Holtz embossing folder.  The central piece is just me sitting and doodling with the Zig Brush and Scroll pens.  All the Kuretake and Basically Bare products can be purchased in the Kuretake Shop.

Hope you have a creative day

My Own Little Santa

34 days to go or 6 weeks to go, I don’t know which sounds better but I do know that it is fast approaching and as usual I still have a list as long as Santa’s to get through!

Talking of Santa, here is one of his little helpers …..

I found this rather fluffy and warm Santa hat in town and was excited to have my very own one, but, like everything … it soon became one of the little peoples!  Sigh!  Still it does make for a rather cute picture!

I absolutely love the North Pole range from Doodlebug and have a few more projects planned for it, which is good as quite a lot of it seemed to just jump into my shopping basket … ohps! It was all the cute characters and clean lines, not to mention the bright cheerful Christmas colours.

I used the Xcut silhouette holly punch to create a border along the bottom.  I’ve had the punch for yonks but still love it!  I am wondering if it is on its way out (or maybe a little bit hungry) as sometimes it keeps the piece of holly it punches out!  Some I have yet to find.

I am also loving the little notepad sheet allowing you to write down who is naughty or nice or simply use it as a journal block.

Talking of notes, I had better get making some of my own

Count To Christmas

Really it's not far away!

Today I had my first gingerbread latte (because they had run out of the Pumpkin Spice ...pah!) and it's got me in the mood to post a little creation I made the other day with some of the Doodlebug North Pole collection and a Doodlebug blank house that I had in one of my crafty drawers.

I become a huge big kid when Christmas comes to town and I love the build up so decided to make a wee countdown so each day I change the numbers I can get more excited!!

I made this tree by wrapping a semi circle cut from the papers and cutting into the bottom edge.  I then cut a small hole at the top and gently pushed them on to a wooden kebab stick.  I decorated it with the really cute poppit robins .... how adorable are they!

For the little count down I made some plagues which I stuck some of the numbers on to.  The glittery border was added with some foam pads so it created a little shelf to hang the plaques on too.

Finally the house was covered with loads of the papers and on the door step I used some of the Doodlebug rub ons to add the 'days till christmas'.  The papers are so bold and cheery and I love the traditional colours of them! This is now sitting on the side waiting till the 1st December .... a little healthier than the chocolate version!!

Hope you have had or do have a crafty day
