Strawberry Shaped Card

Well, this is strawberry week at The Cutting Cafe.  I decided to use the The Strawberry Shaped Card for my project.  It is just one of many strawberry sets that are available at TCC.  I really like the idea of doing a shaped card.  I enjoyed the house so much last week that I decided to keep with the shaped cards.  I used 4 different papers on this project.  Two are designer papers (the strawberry shape and the leaves), one is a textured card stock (the chocolate dip part) and glossy photo paper (for the seeds).  After cutting out the images, I sponged some texture and assembled the pieces.  The chocolate dip was an afterthought.  I added little white dots to accent the outlines and used a Clear Star pen on the dots on the leaves to make them sparkle.  I hope you are able to see this in the picture.  It always seems to show up better in real life!  I found this piece of ribbon (don't know where it came from) and used a very small grosgrain ribbon to tie the ribbon into a bow.  The tiny ribbon was white and I colored it with Copic markers to match the edge of the bow.

The Cutting Cafe House Shaped Card

Our project this week was to do the House Shaped Card cutting file or the Welcome Home printable set.  I decided to do the cutting file because I thought it was fabulous!  I cut the card shape and all of the pieces to go on it.  For the roof and chimney, I embossed each piece to give it a more realistic look.  (See close-up below.)  I decided to draw the curtains in the windows to make them look like real windows.  I also cut an extra window so that there would be a window on the first floor.  I added the door and the curtained window on top of it.  I used a small brass brad for the door handle.  I textured the house by sponging in different colors.  I cut the grasses with a file from the Silhouette Design Studio and glued it onto the bottom of the house.  I used a gel pen to make little dots to look like flowers.  I had so much fun making this card.  I can't wait to make more shaped cards from the Cutting Cafe.  You can see all of their files by going to this link:

Lily's Flowers

 I made this card for the Imagine That Progressive Challenge.  The title is called Lily's Flowers.  She is a cute young girl sprinkling her flowers with a watering can.  I really had fun with this card.  I colored the image with Copic and Spectrum Noir markers.  I just had to make her a red head!  I added the 3-D butterfly and the pink flower in the corner.  I used 2 different Nestabilities to cut out the image and make a frame.  I turned the frame at an angle and used a white gel pen to make the dots.  I used a background paper which happened to have hearts that matched all of the colors in the image.  I really like the way it turned out!  Hope you do also....

You can see that I added the same heart paper on the inside of the card. 

This is a close-up that shows the detail of the 3-D butterfly that I made by

punching 2 butterflies and glueing 1 flat and the other with a glue dot 

so it's wings open. I also added some detail with a glitter pen.

The Cutting Cafe Crusin by to Say Hi

This week we were asked to make a card from the Cruisin by to Say Hi set.  I was having a problem with my learning curve on my Portrait machine so I decided to use the Classic Car print files.  After printing the digi stamp out, I cut the piece with the image piece and another piece in black with my Nestabilities die cut.  Since I had used the largest of the shape for the image, I used the same size for the black and just cut it in half lengthwise and adhered it to the image to give the illusion of a frame.  I colored the car with Copic markers and highlighted the "chrome" with a metallic silver pen.  I sponged the background to look like it was sitting on an old dirt road.  The brown layer is embossed with a Stampin' Up embossing folder.  I used a thin black ribbon and some silver square brads and colored the corners with a brown Copic to make it seem more masculine.  The whole panel was layered onto a teal card base.  The inside of the card says "Happy birthday to a real classic".  I am sending it to a friend for his birthday.  I must say the card did not photograph well.  It shows all of the flaws, but it looks really good in person!  Trust me!!

This set is perfect for a fathers day card or any time you need a card for a man.  There are many cars (including race cars) and lots more sayings.  They are even great to make for a woman or a girl that has just received her drivers license.  There are so many possibilities and the cut files are wonderful!  Hopefully, I will use them the next time I make one of these cards.  I really love the cards that are cut out in the shape of the image.  Be sure to check out The Cutting Cafe site and see what wonderful things you can choose, to make that special one of a kind card!

Imagine That Progressive Challenge

I have a new card to enter into Imagine That Progressive Challenge.  It is a cute image of a girl and her Lady bug friend.  Looks like she wants to be a lady bug herself!  I Colored the image with some little mineral water color pots.  I have just come into a huge stash of stuff and they were in there.  I also used a little Copic markers to add a little highlights.  I colored the flowers for her hair and on the top of the page.  I also use Glossy Accents on each of the black dots to give it some more dimension.  I sponged the background and added the 2 mats with my Perfect Layers tools.  I hope you like what you see...

Baby Diaper Shaped Card

This was a fun week here at The Cutting Cafe.  We received some beautiful new files, but alas, they must wait for another time.  Meanwhile, I am posting my latest Design Team creation....

Diaper Shaped Card and Invite Set

It is a very easy cut file, so if you don't have a cutting machine that can cut it, 

you can cut it out by hand.

Ruffle Diaper Card

I decided to use the ruffle diaper for my creation.  I cut out the base card on white card stock with my Silhouette Portrait with the Designer Edition software.  It cut really well.  Then, I cut the topper on designer paper.  I found some more designer paper that really matched the other designer paper and used it for the tops of the diaper pins.  I cut out the other part of the pins as well as the little hearts, with some silver paper.  I decided to use the small pins and put them on each side of the folds.  I distressed all of the edges, including the inside.  I did not put an invite or any saying because I am not sure if someone will want to purchase this card and want something special inside.

on the center of the card instead of the 2 smaller ones.
I think they are so cute!
