Mike Woodson Does Not Appreciate Your Comments On His Team, Jon Barry

Monday, May 04, 2009

Let's be honest here before getting into the post. Nobody thought the Hawks were going to make it past the Heat, and some of the games were downright unwatchable. So when Jon Barry says that the series might be the "worst seven game series ever", it's not that much of a stretch. Hawks' Coach Mike Woodson, seems to disagree though, and even brings in Barry's playing career as a way of making his point. Via Sports Radio Interviews....

“Man, I could care less about what Jon Barry is saying. That’s what he’s doing what he’s doing and we’re doing what we’re doing. What he says don’t amount to nothing. Again, I don’t even know why I’ve wasted my words on Jon Barry. My focus right now is with my team and trying to get ready for Cleveland. I’m trying to figure out what has he done in the league, really. That’s just how I look at. I’m moving on.”
Well that's one way to take criticism, I guess. I mean, the guy did have 12 points in 3 minutes, during a Playoff game. But when you played for eight teams in your fourteen year career, you're going to get the criticism. Even if one of those teams was the Hawks.

Your First Look At The "Celebrities" Playing In The NBA All-Star "Celebrity" Game

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

ESPN puts this event on every year, and if you have some time on Friday night, I beg of you to check it out. Not for the Basketball, but rather the unintentional comedy that the game provides. Every year something crazy happens, like T.O. dunking or Reggie Bush almost blowing out his knee, and some random TV star is bound to airball a layup. It's really a blast!

Not only that, but ESPN is even giving you an added bonus. Former referee, and current ABC/ESPN play-by-play man, Mike Breen will be your zebra for the game! Here are some of the celebrities from the NBA's official press release....

Basketball Hall of Famers Clyde Drexler and Dominique Wilkins join actor/comedian Chris Tucker, Desperate Housewives' James Denton, and Scrubs' Donald Faison along with other stars of Hollywood, music and sports in the McDonald's NBA All-Star Celebrity Game on Friday, Feb. 13, in association with 2K Sports, Cisco and T-Mobile USA. The game will be televised live on ESPN (7 p.m. ET) from Center Court at NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas.

Basketball Hall of Famers Magic Johnson (ESPN analyst) and "Dr. J" Julius Erving, who combined for 23 NBA All-Star appearances and who each earned two All-Star Game MVPs, will serve as coaches for the star-studded teams. Other celebrities-turned-hoopsters competing include Dallas Cowboys All-Pro receiver and Terrell Owens (last year's Celebrity MVP), Chuck's Zach Levi, and Prison Break's Michael Rapaport.

To add pro hoops firepower, NBA legends Clyde Drexler and Dominique Wilkins, who combined for 19 NBA All-Star appearances, will compete with former Phoenix Suns All-Star Dan Majerle, three-time NBA champion Rick Fox, and WNBA stars Lisa Leslie of the L.A. Sparks and Kara Lawson of the Sacramento Monarchs, as well as Harlem Globetrotters "Wildkat" Edgerson, "Special K" Daley, "Scooter" Christensen and "Handles" Franklin.
Mark Jones and Jon Barry will be on the call for the game at 7pm this Friday, and again, I urge you to at least record the game and watch it later. You won't regret it.

ESPN Basketball Analysts Enjoy The Company Of Adult Film Stars

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

AJ at Deadspin has come across some rather interesting photos at a party following Game Three of the Finals last night. Now I'm not one to normally post sketchy party photos, okay occasionally, but these look like the parties were knowing participants.

Jon Barry, Michael Wilbon (above with adult film star Carly Parker), J.A. Adande, and presumably Bill Simmons. From Deadspin via Christian Sings The Blues....(Very NSFW site)

After about an hour or so, I noticed some familiar faces standing close to our table, but they were getting bumped and jostled in the throng of clubgoers. So of course since it was not my table, nor did I pay a single cent for the alcohol there, I invited them in to join us! lol. It was Jon Barry, an ex-NBA player turned analyst, Michael Wilbon, host of the popular show on ESPN "Pardon the Interruption" and J.A. Adande, ESPN.com and LA Times sports writer. (By the way, I am calling you out Bill Simmons....quit avoiding me, you are going to be in a pic with me in this blog by Dec 31....it's not a choice! so stop stalling)
Hey I don't have anything wrong with hanging out with porn stars and Hollywood luminaries but I'm pretty sure ESPN might. We shall see. It is L.A. and there are Porn Stars f'ing EVERYWHERE, and this could have been at a Bennigans for all we know. Good times seem to have been had by all though....

Mike Tirico Has A Cute New Nickname For The Mavericks

Thursday, January 10, 2008

Jon Barry is by far and away the funniest analyst in the NBA game, and he has apparently been distracting one Mike Tirico all night. I can understand how giggling like schoolgirls all night long would throw you off.....thus explaining this.....

Ladies and Gentlemen.....YOUR Dallas Maggots!!!! (Man they make this job so easy)

Your NBA Finals Game One In Quotes

Friday, June 08, 2007

Wait, wha....wha happened? I fell asleep during the third quarter. Did the Cavs win? No??? Rats. Was it at least close? It wasn't??? Damn....lemme guess, Mike Brown stopped setting picks for Lebron and the Cavs looked like they weren't even running an offense.

Ding! Wow, can't believe I predicted that one. What's that you say? It was the lowest rated Game One in NBA Finals' History? A 7.9 and a drop of 15%....I wonder who could have predicted that. Oh yeah...me.

I'm so not proud of that by the way. I wanted this series to be so exciting I couldn't talk or type after the games. But you know what? That's not happening. Game One was so boring that A) I did fall asleep (I woke up in the 4th), and B) The ratings might go down as the worst ever after that sorry performance by Lebron. Most of the blame should fall on Mike Brown, but that was one uninspired performance by King James.

Oh well, it's not like I'm going to stop watching....I'll just miss a quarter here and there napping. Onto the top quotes....

“Now they’re here they have that liquor courage”- Grant Hill taking about the Cavs, I always thought it was liquid courage, but either way that was funny.

“I believe in long kisses that last 60 seconds, but I don’t believe the Cleveland Cavs will beat the Spurs”- Jon Barry, Yeah....Didn't really want to know that Jon.

“They’re getting married next month...do you think Eva is getting cold feet”- Breen
“Well I know Parker isn’t getting cold feet cause he’s got hot hands.”- Mark Jackson
I have no idea what Mark Jackson is talking about half the time.

“They guy can get anywhere on the floor because of his feet.”- Mark Jackson
See above.

“Boobie Gibson with the pretty move.”- MB
“What You Call Me?!?!?!”- MJ
And again.

P.S.- Since we're talking ratings....the MLB draft got a 0.3. Those .3 were all bloggers live-blogging.
