Reveal-ations

Got the results from the blood test I took earlier this week, and found out some things about myself, health-wise. First things first, my blood type is A positive! I've been wondering about that for the longest time! I remember one time in high school during Science and Maths Week, a couple of seniors set up a place in the lab where students can check their blood type. This involved pricking fingers, so naturally I stayed the hell away, despite my burning curiosity. Now that I've finally found out my blood type, I feel like I've come full circle :)

Anyway, moving on. Other than finding out my blood type, I also found out that I am mildly anemic (eep), glucose levels OK, cholesterol normal (surprisingly) and (this one's a bit of a stumper) apparently my liver is producing slightly abnormal amounts of a certain enzyme, levels akin to those who drink alcohol. I have only ever drunk once in my life, and that was months ago. I had a sip, one sip, of a drink with only 5% vodka in it. What the what lah. The doctor actually saw fit to give me medication for it, you know? sheesh. She gave me iron tablets, too. They taste like poison.

My mum (who came with me to the clinic) and I were relieved that I don't have anything bad (yet). I really do have to start taking care of myself, though. Eat better and exercise and all that. If only to delay the inevitable for as long as possible. What a draaagg... but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, so... *shrug*

NOTE- In case you missed it, yes, I'm back. Go ahead and take a minute for that info to sink in. Yes, She Who Has Not Blogged For What Feels Like An Eternity is blogging again. Sorry I kind of just barged in like that without even so much as a hello or an apology for being late in the first paragraph. It was rude of me. Anyway, when I started unconsciously abandoning my blogging two years ago, I had full intentions of coming back one day, when I feel like reaching out again. I will make no promises as to how often I will be blogging, but I will try to be more prolific this time around. Feeling kind of inspired. I've forgotten how fun this can be :)

Hari Raya

So.

Today marks the end of Ramadan, and the start of Syawal. Happy Aidil Fitri to everyone. I am unfortunately stuck here in Perth, and will not be celebrating. *Sigh*. This would be a first for me, spending Hari Raya without family, and I am trying not to be too upset.

It is currently 10.14 AM, and if I were home, my family and I would be at my grandparents' house by now. Eating, catching up with aunties, uncles and cousins. My favourite food to eat during this time would be my mum's kurma and/or curry with yellow rice sprinkled with raisins. Hmm. I don't think 'sprinkle' is the right word to describe it, but anyway.

In about half an hour from now, we would've gone back home to get ready to open our house to visitors. Our open house is in the afternoon, but somehow, almost every year, one family would come over early, and my siblings and I would scramble to set the table and everything. Good times :) Come afternoon, our house will be attacked by a barrage of visitors made of our friends, and colleagues of my parents.

The first day is always the busiest for us, but I don't mind it much. It's nice to catch up with everyone and check out what they're wearing. My old friends usually come on the second and/or third day, and I love it when they come in a big group. I will miss this while I am here, *sigh*.

Oh, well. Today is a day about forgiveness, so I would like to take the opportunity to apologise if I ever did anything to hurt or offend anyone. It was unintentional, I promise :) Lastly, I would just like to say,

Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin.

02. What will you do if the person you like doesn't like you back?
- Gawd, story of my life. Um, in all seriousness, I'll just accept it. You can't force someone to like you. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed.

03. Miss Piggy + Kermit the Frog = OTP?
- Ah, I took the liberty to look this up. OTP=One True Pairing. So in the case of Miss Piggy and Kermit: oh, totally.

04. Are you confused as to what lies ahead of you?
- Yes, and I don't like it.

05. What's your ideal lover like?
- *giggles* umm... someone who likes me as much as I like him/her, someone who brings out the best in me, and someone with whom I can be comfortable with...*shy*

06. Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone else?
- Both la wei. Lagi romantik, dowh :-p

07. If the person you like does not accept you, would you continue to wait for them to change their feelings?
- Aww...well, I wouldn't bet on that person to change how he/she felt, but I'd be lying if I said I don't still harbor feelings for him/her.

08. If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?
- Once again, story of my life. Sedih la sikit, but there's nothing I can do about it but pine, pine away~ sobs.

11. Is being tagged fun?
- Not really, but it gives me something to do, at least.

12. If you find out that your best friend is going out with your boyfriend/girlfriend, how would you react?

Mimin and Kimi

So um... our friend Kim recently put up a new header for her blog, which featured her with our mutual friends, Wani and Alem. I teased her a bit about the lack of ME in the header, since we are quite close, and used to hang out quite often when I was still in Miri, but she was all, "Cos you never take pics with me leh~"

LIES! LIES, I TELL YOU!

So, Kimi, here is proof that we have plenty of pictures together, thank you very much. Some of them from your own camera, some more. hmmph.

Gawai 2007

Christmas 2007

Our brief gym stint 2007

There are more, but I think I've proved my point already :) But of course you don't have to put pictures of you and me in your header, Kimi. I was just playing, you know that :-p

an empty stomach fuels bouts of randomness (for this girl, anyway)

You know what would make an awesome breakfast?

A chocolate eclair...

and a good cup of joe

(even if i am not actually a big fan of coffee)

I haven't actually tried to eat eclairs together with coffee, though. But I do reckon they would go well together. And don't ask me "why breakfast? what about for makan petang ka apa?" because I don't really know, hehe.

Here is a good picture-laden blog entry on eclairs. Cakespy is a good read if you are a bit of a foodie like some people i know *nudge nudge, wink wink*. I feel kind of evil, plugging a desserts blog during the fasting month... but hey, look at it this way: at least you can get some ideas on what to make for your open house :-p (albeit non-traditional ideas). Raya's in less than four weeks, after all :)

Ramadan and dotdotdot

Well, looks like Ramadan's just started. Usually I look forward to the fasting month, but I can't say the same for this year. The thing I enjoy about Ramadan are all those stalls selling local food set up in parking lots. I like to look at all the stuff they sell, and all the people crowding the stalls. The fasting month is the one time each year that I can expect to bump into old friends from primary and secondary school, weirdly enough. I don't know yet what it'll be like fasting here in Perth, but I don't expect it to be too hard. Here's hoping I will make it through okay, without suffering too much from homesickness, and here's wishing everyone a Happy Ramadan :)

I was actually assigned by Stef to blog about a certain topic, and I'm still working on it. I might decide not to post it, since my cousins know my blog. It all depends on the finished product, and how comfortable I am about anyone reading it. Otherwise it's destined to be stuck under drafts, forevaarrr....muahahahahahah! *cough*

I'm sorry about the dry spell, you guys. Got a case of the ol' Writer's Block. It's quite frustrating, really. Every week I'd be reading these blogs with well written entries, and I'd be all gung-ho about writing my own excellent piece, but all I get are brain farts. Take my word for it, kids, those are not pleasant :-p
