Girls just wanna have sun...

Hello friends!

It's day 1 of the May stamp release from The Greeting Farm... exciting! This month we have FOUR fabulous sets coming to the store and they are all perfect for our upcoming summer time crafting. We are kicking everything off with a set that I have been wanting for a long time and it is called Beach Bums. Beach Bums includes a cute little Anya and Ian along with a beach towel, life preserver, sunglasses and a whole slew of beach necessities which will all be available for purchase on the 15th. The beauty of this set is that you can create scenes with them standing or swimming or flip your view to an aerial perspective and look down on them as they soak up the sun on that beach towel. That's exactly what I did for this card and it looks like Anya is set to spend the whole day relaxing and having a good time. It was a lot of fun coloring up this scene and I've got even more ideas for this set that I can't wait to get to.

Now be sure to head on over to the TGF blog to see all of the beach-tastic cards from my fellow Farmers using the new Beach Bum set and I'll see you back here tomorrow with more sneak peek fun!  :)

Be awesome...

Hey there!

So my last couple cards have been pretty heavy on the scene coloring and I thought it would be a nice change of pace to play with a stencil on this one instead. My good friend Tracey has a picture of her adorable granddaughter on her fridge and I wanted to recreate the photo in card form. The picture is from Halloween and she is standing in front of a brick wall, dressed as a bee just like this sweet Bee Mine digi from Mo's Digital Pencil. Once I had her all colored up I masked her off and used the cool english brick stencil from MFT to quickly set the scene, all I had to color in was a bit of sidewalk for her to stand on. A couple of pretty paper flags and a nice big sentiment where the only other things I needed to pull this card all together. I sure hope they like the end result.  :)

Later gators!

You will weather this storm...

Hello my crafty friends!

Can you believe it is time for a new challenge over on the 7 Kids Customers Create Facebook page already? This time around the theme is "RAIN". There are many ways to approach this challenge from finding an image with an umbrella (or just the right attitude, LOL), coloring in rain or raindrops, using lots of blues and grey inks or papers, to adding rain with Nuvo drops or Glossy Accents... just think wet and get creative! For my inspiration card I grabbed this loud little viking from the CC Designs Viking Kids set because he seems to share my attitude whenever I get caught out in the rain and that cracks me up. I decided to stretch my scene coloring skills by sticking him out on some seaside rocks as the storm rages around him. Is he brave or is he foolhardy? Only you can decide, LOL! The sentiment is pieced together from the Honey Bee Stamps Seasonal Sweeties set and gave this card a positive affirmation spin that leads me to believe he is indeed one brave little dude. ;)

Ok, now it's your turn to create something for our "RAIN" themed challenge. As always there is a $20 gift certificate to the 7 Kids store up for grabs and Kelly has added so much good stuff recently so check it out!

Mermaid Kisses...

TGIF!

I'm in the midst of another 12 Days of Coloring challenge at Some Odd Girl and this one has an optional mermaid theme. For my entry today I was able to get an entire card made using this beauty from the retired Under the Sea stamp set. I inked her up in Desert Sand for some no-line coloring and proceeded to adorn her in pretty pinks and purples. She turned into a rather dark little jewel of the sea so I wanted to give her a special home deep beneath the waves. The background is my take on a fabulous card by Sandy Allnock that I saw on her Instagram some time last summer, the whole hidden grotto thing really captured my imagination. The sentiment is from the fantastic Mermaid Song set by Honey Bee Stamps, there are SO many great mer sentiments on that set I just know I will be getting lots of use out of it. :)

Well friends, have a wonderful weekend and I shall see ya on Monday!

Our love story...

Olo!

I figured after sharing my royal under the sea couple yesterday it would be only fitting to share this land loving couple of cuties today. They are part of the Save the Day set that was released last month and I used the masking technique to add the crowns to their heads as well as stamp the forest of trees behind them. I found the large sentiment in my stash and I really like how it balances the contained scene that I created and helps ground this clean and simple design. This card really did come together rather quickly but it makes me happy just looking at it. :)

Alrighty friends, gotta run. I've got a lot of things to cross off my to-do list today... wish me luck!

Oceans of love...

Hello, hello!

I'm continuing the MerMay fun with this card that I made for last month's Greeting Farm release. I used a bunch of the little accessory stamps included in the Make a Splash set to create this under the sea scene with a healthy amount of masking. I imagine these two as a young king Triton and his queen holding court outside of their coral castle. This was a lot of fun to stamp up and get creative with and I can still think of dozens of different ways to mix and match these stamps to create various other scenes. With my personal MerMay/MerJune challenge I'm sure I will be trying a few of them out sooner rather than later. ;)

Ok then, catch ya later!

Let's shellabrate...

Hello crafty friends!

I'm back with another card for the 7 Kids Customers Create Facebook page. If you are a regular follower of this ol' crafty blog than you may know that the last couple years I have dedicated the month of June to making mermaid cards. Well since this year I have design team commitments that aren't necessarily mermaid themed I have decided to start early and celebrate mermaids for the next two months. That way I will still have just as many under the sea themed cards, they will just be a bit spaced out. So I am kicking off Mer-May with this lovely mer from Honey Bee Stamps called Ocean Bliss. She is so regal looking, perched on that rock with her long hair flowing down in waves all around her. Because there are so many lines in the original image and I wanted to give her blonde hair, I inked Ocean Bliss up in Desert Sand and did the whole scene using the no-line coloring technique. I imagined her resting at the end of a stone jetty so I colored in some extra rocks before adding in the water and sky. The sentiment and message in a bottle come from another Honey Bee set called Mermaid Song and I really like how they tie the whole card together.

Alrighty, you've still got a week to enter a project into the "glitter/shimmer" challenge and as always there is a $20 gift certificate to the 7 Kids store up for grabs. So get crafty and join the fun!
