Have a magical birthday...

Hey, hey!

I've been really busy this week drawing up new stamp designs for future Sweet November releases so once again I checked my hard drive to see what I still had there to share. This mini slimline was actually shared on the SN instagram account during the summer clear release hop but it hasn't been posted here yet. It's a fun birthday card using the three cute fairwees holding candles from the Fairwee Happy Birthday set. I also colored this for the SN YouTube hop during that release so if you would like to watch how I created that candle glow around them, you can check it out here.

Alrighty then... back to drawing. Have a good one!

Happy September Birthday...

Hello there!

Here we are smack dab in the middle of the first week of September so I figured it would be a perfect day to share this card featuring the new September Morning Glory Fairy from Sweet November Stamps. This shy little cutie may have been easily overshadowed by all of the Halloween fun of the last clear release but now it is her month to be in the spotlight. After poppies, morning glories are a favorite flower of mine, especially the classic heavenly blue variety, which is where I pulled my coloring inspiration from. The simple scene behind her was colored in by hand and I was trying to make it look like she is standing at the bottom of a post that the morning glory vine is growing around. When it came time to add some embellishments to the card, I didn't have any blue gems in the right shade of blue so I grabbed some clear ones instead and used a Copic marker to color a few to match. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Hip, hip, hooray...

TGIF!

The big anniversary sale starts today at Purple Onion Designs and most everything in the store is 25% OFF for the next couple weeks. That even includes the Chilliezgraphy by Pei Summer Fun collection, which this cute Let's Celebrate image is part of. These sweet animal friends are gathered together to help their friend celebrate their special day and I've paired them with the older Room Background to give them the perfect party space for that. The colors are bright and cheery throughout the scene, while the animals themselves are all sporting various shades of grey tones to really make them stand out against the colorful backdrop. The sentiment is from The Great Outdoors Sentiment set and that was really all I needed to complete this happy scene.

Now be sure to head on over to the Purple Onion store because now is the perfect time to stock up on some super cute stamps for the upcoming holiday season and beyond. :)

Toodles!

It's o-fish-ally your birthday...

Hey there!

So yesterday I said that I was sharing my last mermaid card of the year and then I found this card that I hadn't posted yet. And while it technically has some mermaid silhouettes from The Deep: Background Builder set, it's still the cute marine life from the Something's Fishy set that are the real stars of the show, so I don't feel like a complete liar, LOL! This is another card design that I made a handful of for Sweet November Stamps orders. The die is from The Stamp Market and I like how it gives you four large 'postage stamps' to build your scenes in. All of the little fish were stamped and colored first, then I masked them off, as well as the edges of each postage stamp, and used the Copic airbrush system to add the water. Before removing the masks I also stamped the mermaid silhouettes and bubbles in a darker blue green ink so that they look far off in the distance. The final finishing touches are the sentiment and the large postal cancellation stamps that I added in dark black ink to create a nice visual triangle that leads your eye throughout the scene. :)

Laters!

Hot dog!

Hello, hello!

Labor Day weekend is almost here and this end of summer celebration always winds down with a backyard barbecue in my family. This seasonal inspiration had me reaching for the cute grillin' critters that are included in the Amongst the Pines collection at Purple Onion Designs to make a fun BBQ scene. Clay the squirrel, Honey the deer and Kelly the hedgie have all gathered together to enjoy some good food and some special time together. The BBQ and Cooler set plus the Rustic Fence stamp helped to tell that story and another perfect sentiment from The Great Outdoors sentiment set gave this a fun birthday card twist. :)

See ya in 24!

Happy Birthday Princess...

Hi friends!

Did you see that a new princess has been added to the unofficial collection of Uptown Princesses at Stamping Bella? Uptown Girl Briar Rose is dressed in her pretty pink gown to celebrate the birthday that will see her return to her life as a princess. She pairs perfectly with the new Cottage on the Hill background stamp because it looks so much like the forest abode where she was raised by her fairy godmothers. Let's just hope that she doesn't run into any spinning wheels before the sun sets. The sentiment that I used to complete the card is from the older Princess Sentiment set and I stamped it using a pink ink to match her dress. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday...

Hey, hey!

Things are pretty busy behind the scenes these days so I've got a card to share that was colored Live over on my Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page during the last clear release at Sweet November Stamps. This cute fairwee from the Fairwee Happy Birthday set is ready to celebrate and shower the world with her magical confetti. The set also includes a bunch of fun builder elements to create the perfect party scene, like the bunting that I stamped and masked three times to fill the sky with color or the stack of presents that I stamped twice behind her. We kinda went crazy adding prints to all those accessories so the Live ran a bit longer than I had planned but I think the finished look it totally worth that extra time in the end. :)

Have a good one!

Let's Shell-ebrate...

Good morning!

This quick but cute birthday card combines one of the older Merwees from the Merwees set #2 with the puffer fish balloon stamp from the Merwee Party set that released in May. The fun pose with her hands tucked behind her back was perfect for making it look like she is ready to surprise a friend with a whole bunch of adorable balloons. Making that happen was as easy as masking her off and stamping the middle balloon before masking it as well and stamping the others on either side. Next, I masked off the other two balloons so that I could use a wave stencil and the Copic airbrush system to fill in the background quickly. I also ended up stamping the school of fish from the Mermaid Hair set before removing the masks so that it would look like some are swimming behind the merwee. Because I used a smaller die to cut out the main panel, it left me with just enough room to add a simple sentiment right on the card base, completing this sweet but simple birthday card quite nicely.   :)

Toodles!

A big win...

Hello friends!

Today I'm celebrating a classic summer time activity with a fun baseball themed birthday card using some more of the new cuties from the
Amongst the Pines collection at Purple Onion Designs.
Rookie is the little fox who is up to bat while Warren and Sam cheer him on from the sidelines. In the distance you can see the  Woodland Horizon behind them, helping to set this sunny summer day scene. Since we are only a day away from the 4th of July I made the team colors red, white and blue for a nod to the holiday. Once all of the Copic coloring was done I grabbed a ruler and a fine point black pen to draw in the criss-cross lines that became the backstop. This simple addition really made the difference in creating some separation between the player and his fans. The sentiment is from the Great Outdoors Sentiment set which made it super easy to perfectly finish off this card.  :)

See ya in 24!
