St Patrick’s Day in Savannah, Georgia
Savannah has been celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with parade since 1825. What started out as a modest affair has turned into one of the biggest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the country. Savannah’s parade draws crowds of over 400,000 people.
Dying the city’s fountains green is one of the traditions unique to the city. Seeing the green fountains, as spring starts creeping up on the Georgia city is one of the most enjoyable sights you can witness.

ReplyDeleteThat looks like a lot of fun! I just love a good parade! And that green fountain water is pretty crazy!! We don't really do much for St. Patrick's day around here, but I am going to fix my first Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner tomorrow. Minus the green mashed potatoes!

ReplyDeleteThis is the time of year that I really miss working in downtown Manhattan - so many Irish pubs down there with live music and serving corned beef and cabbage for lunch. And lets not forget the green bagels for breakfast! LOL

Happy St. Patrick's Day! It looks like you had a grand time at the parade. Here in Chicago the River turns green for the St. Patrick's Day parade. My "fav" photo is the green water coming out of the fountain. How kewel is that?

I wore green with other teachers, and I explained to my interntional students in my ESL class what St patrick's day is. My colleague is Pat, she explained why she is called Pat. Today is her birthday, her dad called her patricia.

That is pretty cool. Sounds like it would be so much fun to attend the St. Patrick's Day parade. Amazing how large it has gotten over the years. The practical side of me wonders how they keep the statues from turning green.
