Art Glitter Mother's Day Canvas

Vintage Chic Mother's Day Canvas

Heather decided she would like to share with you a Vintage Vintage Chic Inspired Mother's Day Canvas!! You will need the following:
  • Sweet Mommy image
  • Roses paper image
  • gesso
  • blue gelato
  • scissors
  • paint brushes
  • foam brushes
  • folk art brand paints:  Baby Pink, Lipstick Red, Vintage White, Old Ivy, Classic green, Fresh Foliage, Burnt Umber
  • 6 inch square canvas
  • anitque mod podge
  • Art Glitter Designer dries clear Glue
  • Art Glitters: #208 Faunaand #165 Autumn
Step One
Heather used Art Glitter Designer Dries Clear glue to adhere her Rose paper to canvas, then applied some gesso.  Next Heather used more Designer glue to add her Sweet Mommy Image.  She ten applied antique mod podge and covered some of the rose paper with a blue gelato (and blended it in to the piece).  She also added some paint to the rose image and leaves.  She added some extra leaves and buds too.
Step Two
Heather painted rosebuds and leaves around her image as well as some brown comma strokes.  She finished painting the rose in the upper left and then covered the whole canvas with mod podge.  Once the mod podge was dry, she added a layer of watered down burnt umber, which you will see below.  She let it set for about 30 Seconds..then wiped it off to give the canvas a vintage look
Step Three
Once the burnt umber paint was dry, Heather used a diamond stencil and old brush to apply designer dries clear glue to different areas of her canvas.  You can see the diamond shaped areas pretty well in the lower left of the image below.  Fauna Glitter was added to the diamond shapes.  Heather used the same brush to more designer dries clear glue to the edges of her canvas, and she then applied Autumn glitter, which is one of her new favorites!!
Heather removed the excess glitter with a soft brush once her glue dried.  She is happy with the over all effect!
Heather hopes you enjoyed her tutorial, and hopes it adds a little Sparkle to your day!

Art Glitter Flag

Heather's Project
Americana Roses

Heather decided she would like to share with you a tiny Vintage Americana Folk Art Inspired Canvas!! You will need the following:
Step One
I spread the modge podge over my entire canvas.  I wanted an antique look so I used the Antique modge podge, but you could use the Art Glitter Designer dries clear Glue in the same manner.
Step Two
Place your book page over your canvas and smooth out.  Tear off the excess edges.  You can smooth the edges over to the sides as well.  The excess will be sanded off when you are finished with your piece.
Step Three
Heather used her drawing as a reference when drawing onto her canvas.  You could use some graphite paper, place it on the canvas shiny side down, then put drawing on top, use a stylus to transfer your lines to your canvas.
Step Four
Heather used a flat brush to paint the cream stripes, then the red ones.
Step Five
Heather Free hand painted a vintage white star.
Step Six
Heather used a Round and flat brush to paint her leaves.  She watered down her paint so that the coverage would not be opaque, letting some of the book page showing through.  She sketched in a circle for the rose.
Step Seven
Heather decided she wanted some more leaves, that would wrap around the edges of the canvas.  Leaves were base coated with Classic Green.
Step Eight
Heather used the baby pink and a flat brush to paint a messy circle and used a round brush to create the basecoat for some rosebuds.  She also cut out some words from another book page and glued them down to the white stripes of the flag.  Heather also cut out words and placed them along the canvas edges too.  She then put a coat of antique Mod Podge
Step Nine
Heather filled in the blue part of the flag, again watering down her acrylic paint.
Step Ten
Heather used her Angle Shader brush and applied red lipstick paint to the messy circle to create the rose beginning and to shade the rose buds.  She did a brush mix of the old ivy & burnt umber to shade the leaves .  She also used her Angle Shader with burnt umber to shade around all the leaves, and around the edges of the star and stripes.
Step Eleven
Heather used her round brush and brush mix of Fresh Foliage & Moon Yellow to highlight tips of leaves and create leaves for the rose buds.  She used her Angle shader with a brush mix of pink & white to create the rose.  When the paint was dry she applied some Designer dries clear glue randomly to the white stripes and star and applied Fauna Glitter.
Step Twelve
Heather did the same technique to the leaves applying Celery glitter, the blue she applied Dusty Blue Glitter, and Cheeky pink was added to the rose.
Finished Piece
Heather is really happy with how it turned out!!
A couple close ups
You can see below how Heather continued the painting onto the edges of her canvas.

Art Glitter Spring Time Card

Spring Time Card

Heather decided she would like to share with you a bit of spring!!
You will need the following:

Step One
Heather Started out with cutting out her images, and inking all of her pieces with Ranger's Frayed Burlap.  She tied a nice seam binding bow at the top of her card using her bow it all tool.

She used her Designer dries clear glue with a brush, and she applied glue to the whole doily, then applied Fauna Glitter.
She applied more glue to her focal image, and then used the brush to spread it around.
She then applied Fauna glitter to this piece as well.
Next she added some dots of glue to the green stamp image.
Heather used Celery green glitter.  Next she used her fine tip applicator to outline the banner and added cheeky pink glitter.
Heather added some glue to her foam brush, then used it to brush some glue onto the edges of a mulberry rose.  She did the same thing with the two smaller pink roses.
Fauna glitter was used on all of the roses.
Heather used her fine tip applicator to add dots of glue to the outer edge of her card, and lines of glue added to the blue flag piece.  Cheeky pink and Ice glitters were used.
Here are a few close ups of her card below.
Heather loves the springy feel of her card.  Here is a close up of her roses below.
One last look at Heather's card.

Heather hopes you enjoyed her tutorial, and hopes it reminds you of a lovely spring day!

Think Spring!

Heather decided she would like to share with you a bit of spring!!  Yes it is still snowing and freezing cold in Michigan, and Heather is already eager for spring!!  So if you live in her neck of the woods or are lucky enough to live somewhere that you don't know the meaning of "snirt"  (the yucky mix of slushy snow and dirt), hopefully you will enjoy this easy to make darling little posey, that you can add to your cards, fridge or jars to give them a little sparkle.
You will need the following:

Here is a look at the supplies!
Here is Heather's step by step tutorial so you can create some Posies of your own.  Feel free to choose your own colors!  These are great, because no matter what you favorite colors are...you can use them!!
Step 1
Heather used scrap pieces of corrugated cardboard from some left over Christmas delivery boxes.
If you are not much into drawing, you can trace a circle on the cardboard, then slightly offset it to create the simple three petals.  You could even just trace a smaller circle for the center, that would work too!!  Think of the leaves as drawing a fat letter "V" or "U."  Have two that slightly overlap.
Step 2
Super easy Posy!
Step 3
Step 4
Step 5
 Step 6
Steps 7 & 8
Steps 9 & 10
Step 11
The great thing about corrugated cardboard is the layers, and you can just slide your hanger into one of the grooves!
Step 12
Heather loves the artsy look of the edges, since they are are corrugated and not solid!
Step 13
Here is a close up of one, so you can see how it looks on the sides.
Here is a picture of all three.
If you are wondering what Heather did to the backs?  She just painted them, and left them as is.  If you were going to hang it where you would see the back, then she recommends glittering the back as well.
Heather hopes you enjoyed her tutorial, and hopes it adds a little Sparkle to your day!

Here is a special
New Year Tussie Mussie

Heather outlined the edges of her tussie mussie, focal and rose petals with Designer dries clear glue.  She then applied the Platinum Glitter.  It really makes the the tussie mussie feel

How about a Pink Heart Shaped Cone /Tussie mussie for Valentine's Day??
Heather used the Art Glitter Designer dries clear Glue & Ultra fine Metal Tip to apply dots of glue around the focal edge and then added #287 Arbor Glitter.
Heather also added the  #287 Arbor Glitter to her text boxes below.  She used the glue to add dots to her raised heart and applied #267 Cheeky Pink Art Glitter.  She outline the heart shaped cone base with glue and used #160 Rose Gold.
These glitters give her heart cone a soft vintage romantic feel!

One last extra project that Heather would like to share.
Vintage Christmas Tag.
Isn't it Sparkly!!
Here is a close up of the poinsettia.
Heather used #162 Just Peachy, and #142 Coral Reef on the poinsettia petals.  #295 Ensalada was used on the leaves!
Here is a look of the back of the tag.
