Color

Several asked for colors from my Sunset Quilt, and here they are.  As you can see, I'm not a solid purist.  I like and purchase all for different reasons.

  • Kona, by Robert Kaufman, has every color under the sun and are the most affordable.  Plus I can find many colors locally without having to order online.
  • Moda has a lot of colors too, and it seems that their repertoir is growing.  The feel and drape of the Moda Bella Solids is really nice, and it's getting easier to find.
  • Art Gallery Pure Elements have the smallest variety, but the feel is my favorite.  It's so soft.
I used two very similar yellows because I didn't have enough of just one, but you can't really tell, they look pretty much exactly alike.

I have had that Timeless Treasures dark crosshatch print for YEARS.  I've cut off the name of the print, so I only know the manufacturer.  I love how it plays with the black.  Its very subtle.

kaleidoscope

I am digging through my piles, sorting and accounting all the works in project I have going.  Here's the first I found and need to resurrect.  I started this one about a year ago.  I pinned this image on pinterest, because I loved the colors and knew they would be great in a quilt and I LOVE the colors...but, I don't know if I love this quilt.

I realize this is the beginning stages and it usually gets better.  The pattern is Kaleidoscope.  I wanted to reverse the colors, so the background would have color and the stars would be white.  I love it this way, but I wish I had done it in 2.5 inch squares.  I know that would have been more work, but it would've been more effective.  Oh well, I'm not starting over, and I really want to see it finished, so I will persevere.  haha.

Fall is still no where near making an appearance here in Houston, so it seems like good time to continue working on it.  Might help us get in the mood anyway.

color

i don't know where most of you get your color inspiration, but mine often comes while unloading the dishwasher.

i think this combo will make a lovely baby boy quilt.

blue?

what do you think? do you like the blue? would it look better all orange with blue binding?

I'm pretty sure I like it (mostly because i don't want to redo my setting blocks), but this is going to be a large quilt, bigger than I normally make...I really want to get it right.I showed it to my husband and I got a mediocre response out of him, so now I'm having second thoughts.
