Hello...

Happy Weekend!

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend so far! We've got families to visit for Fathers' Day but I'm quickly popping by here to say:

Hello

Hello!

I forget about the tiny stamps in some of my sets sometimes. This flower is from Around and About Sentiments - it's tiny and so is the tag! Why not have a dig through some of your own older sets and see what you can rustle up? Who knows, it may even fit in well with our current challenge *wink wink*

Now I've just gotta find something nice to attach this tag to...:)

Summertime Vibes...

Phew! So I finally get some time to post something here on the blog - sorry it's been so quiet recently; let's just say this time of year is proving to be super busy!

I'm counting down to the summer holidays now I'm back at work for our final seven weeks (or 33 days to be exact *wink*) I can almost taste the summertime: the fresh, juicy strawberries, the ice-cream, the late night drinks during the light nights...bliss!

Here are a couple of cards I've not shared with you here that definitely make me think of summer:

Celebrate Your Day!

I'm not one to love Berry Sorbet as a colour but I think that could change if the sunshine sticks around. I'm loving this paired with white for that clean, fresh look (makes me think of watermelon - yummy!)

And finally, summer wouldn't be summer without some heat so let's turn it up with a hot, hot, HOT colour combo:

happy happy birthday

Well I'm in a summertime mood now - how about you?

Friend

Hello, hello!

Flying by today with a li'l card I haven't shown on here yet:

FRiEnD

This was created for a past Make it Monday challenge from PTI. I love that each challenge focuses on a new technique (and that you could be in with the chance of winning a PTI stamp set each week too of course!)

Ooh and speaking of challenges, why not enter our current challenge? Maybe even combine it with a Make it Monday challenge to double your chances of winning some PTI goodies *wink*

You'll have to forgive my lack of words and absence around Blogland today and for the next few weeks: we're moving house and my guy has the huge task of training me to be organised lol! He's a brave guy who's not afraid of a challenge.....I think he's stressing already and we're yet to open a cupboard to pack up - ha!

Wishing the rest of you a fabulous, and stress-free week!

Sending Hugs

Happy Monday, peeps! I hope the weekend was a goody for ya! I can't say we did anything special; sometimes those are the kinda weekends I like the best KWIM?!

Today I'm popping by to share some hugs with y'all...

This is another li'l card (what can I say, I'm hooked on them!) and measures a sweet 2.75 x 3.5 in size. My piccy doesn't capture it, but that butterfly is absolutely smothered in Glossy Accents *grin*

I'm definitely a believer that a hug is good for you and cheers anyone up. Seeing as I'm definitely not a Monday person, I say, bring 'em on in both phsyical and card form! LOL!

*Hugs!*

Punch It!

So, ready for a new challenge?! After going dotty for the past fortnight, we wanna see you pack a punch! Well not the violent kind, we're talking about the paper kind of punching of course! So c'mon, dig out those paper punches and see what you come up with! Don't have a paper/border punch? Well we'll let you off if you use a die-cut because it's almost the same kinda thing....but everyone has a regular paper hole punch don't they?! Could you use that creatively I wonder?!

I'll confess that I went a little 'punch crazy' on my example - I couldn't resist! So here's my example with not one, not two, but three paper punches (can you spot them all?!)

I've a little bit of an addiction creating these kinda 3D, doily, fan things too! Just love the dimension they add to a card!

Card Deets
{There's no one like You}
Stamps: Papertrey Ink: Friends 'til the End, Around and About Sentiments
Ink: Papertrey Ink: Pure Poppy
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink: White, Hibiscus Burst
Patterned Paper: Papertrey Ink: Simple Valentine
Accessories: Martha Stewart Scalloped Border Punch/EK Success Embossed Scallop Punch/Corner Rounder/Papertrey Ink button, twine/Cuttlebug/Nestabilities

Now I'm gonna cover for my PTI partner in crime, Kate for this challenge. Kate is super duper busy at the moment, so she may pop by with a card later on in the week!

So that leaves you with an example from our featured stamper for September, Margaret! Here's Margaret's lovely autumnal take on the challenge:

"This card was a bit of a challenge for me as I don't really use the many punches I have - most are a bit twee. However, despite the start of an Indian Summer here in Scotland, Autumn is very much on my mind, especially as the trees are on the cusp of turning - really, they are!

Remember how I love CASEing people ? Well, I saw a card by Erin Lincoln at Procrastination Station on the 19th of August where she uses the PTI Autumn Abundance set on Mat Stack 3 ( turns out she'd CASEd Nichole Heady, so if it's good enough for those girls... !) I love it when you can multi-purpose stuff - another great feature of much of the PTI range !

I kinda had leaves tumbling over the card in my mind but I couldn't really make that work as I felt the leaves were too "solid" both in texture and shape. I then came up with the wreath/frame idea, but needed to vary the leaves a bit so I puddled Glimmer Mists to make a variegated cardstock to punch the leaves from - I thought it would be nice to have the leaves curving. However, they needed more of a "grounding" and that's where the Rubber Tapestry stamps came in, stamped in Kaleidacolour Autumn Leaves - you can just see them peeking behind the wreath. Yup, PTI works FABULOUSLY with other ranges of stamps - and it is allowed, folks !!

Oh, I also scored a border around the square card, just to contain it all.

The main image from PTI Autumn Abundance was stamped and coloured with Koh-I-Noor Pencils then I used Crackle Glaze to ...erm.... crackle glaze it (??!) When that was dried, I rubbed Distress Tea-dye ink over to highlight the crackle. Doesn't that sound a nice, calm creative process ? Want to hear the real monologue in my head from this morning ? Then pop on over to my blog - although, be warned, it ain't pretty ..."

So you ready to play along? Here are the deets:

*All entries must contain at least one PTI product to qualify

* To enter, use our inlinkz thingy at the bottom of this post. Please leave the correct URL for your entry post and not just your generic blog address! If you're having problems then just leave a comment with a link to your post featuring the project on your blog or online gallery.

In addition to this, we'll select the top three creations we like the most and feature them on the Blog. The top three PTI Passionistas will have chance to display a Top 3 Passionista Blinkie on their own blog.

So go get punching! We can't wait to see what you create!

Normality...

...I'm nearly back to it!

I'm so sorry that I've been too busy to blog/create recently. As you may or may not know my family and I have had a couple of stressful weeks with my dad going in for major heart surgery. The good news is that although there were some scary times, he's now home safe and sound. It's a long recovery process but things are starting to get back to normal around here...

...so what does normal mean for me?! Well getting inky of course! So I've managed to create a card for our current challenge - big hugs and thanks to my PTI partner in crime, Kate for holding the fort whilst I was MIA!

I couldn't resist indulging in some Hawaiian Shores for my summertime creation - I love it! I only wish the weather was more in the spirit of summer when I took this pic LOL!

That butterfly was cut using a PTI die and my Cuttlebug from a sheet of thin metal. It cut like buttah! The embossing was done after, and glossy accents proved a fab glue to fix it to the ribbon. I love how I can bend the wings into shape to add that extra dimension; I don't think this will be the last metal butterfly you see from me *wink*

Card Recipe
PTI Supplies
Stamps: Friends 'til the End/Background Basics: Text Style
Ink: Hawaiian Shores/Spring Moss
Card: Hawaiian Shores/Stamper's Select White/New Leaf
Papers: Green Boutique
Accessories: Metal Sheet/Cuttlebug/PTI Butterfly Die/Swiss Dot Embossing Folder/Hawaiian Shores Ribbon/EK Success Border Punch

So that's my sample for our current challenge - I hope you can play along too! Oh and if you're reading this very soon after me publishing it, there's still a few hours to play along with Chris' fantastic challenge in which you can win some fab PTI DPs!

Your Favourite Colour!!

Welcome to another Passion for Papertrey challenge! This time we're going to ask a very simple question.... what's your favourite colour?!!

And then of course make a card using your top choice - the colour doesn't have to be a Papertrey Ink colour if you don't have all the colours, but, as always, must include at least one PTI product :)

Anyone who knows me no doubt is aware of my obsession with all things Aqua and Turquoise so it was a toss up between Aqua Mist and Hawai'in Shores - Aqua Mist has always been my favourite colour but it got some serious competition when I received my Hawai'in Shores colour! Torn between the two I decided to go with the newest addition to my colour collection :)

Recipe:

Stamps: Asian Fusion/Polka Dot Basics/Mega Mixed Messages
Card - Hawai'in Shores/Stampers Select White/True Black
Ink - Hawai'in Shores/True Black
Other - Corner Chomper

Over to Aimes:
"Well I'm not gonna surprise any of ya! Anyone who knows me, knows that my all time favourite colour is green. Pretty much any shade of green will float my boat. Not that I don't love any other colours, just that if I had to pick only one then without a doubt, it'd be green! So without further ado, here's my example:"

Card Recipe
Stamps: Background Basics: Text Style/Turning a New Leaf/Friends 'til the End
Ink: Distress Ink Antique Linen/PTI Spring Moss
Card: Kraft/Vintage Cream
Papers: Bitty Box Basics/Turning a New Leaf
Accesories: EK Success Border Punch/Dark Chocolate Grosgrain Ribbon/Sewing Machine/3D Foam Pads

As our featured stamper this month, Marinette couldn't choose between her two favourtie colours: Red and Kraft! So she did what any other crafty peep would do and use both LOL!

Supplies:
PTI kraft and Pure Poppy, Ink Pure Poppy, tiny tag "Birthday Wishes" stamped with "Mega mixed Messages", stamp PTI "Happy Birthday "Say it with style" , PTI "heart print" ink pure poppy, stamp PTI "delightful dahlia" ink pure poppy

Fancy playing along? Here are the deets:

* All entries must contain at least one PTI product to qualify

* To enter, use our inlinkz thingy at the bottom of this post. If you're having problems then just leave a comment with a link to your post featuring the project on your blog or online gallery.

* Worldwide entries are more than welcome to share the inspiration and can be in with a chance of being a Top 3 PTI Passionista, but unfortunately prizes can only be shipped within Europe!

* Challenge closes on Monday, May 31st 2010 at 9.00am GMT

* A winner will be chosen at random to receive some PTI goodies! In addition to this, we'll select the top three creations we like the most and feature them on the Blog. The top three PTI Passionistas will have chance to display a Top 3 Passionista Blinkie on their own blog.

Need more tempting? Look at what you could win for this fortnight's challenge:

One sheet of each design from the Green Boutique pattern paper pad (6 sheets in total)

AND

A whole roll of grosgrain ribbon in the delicious Hawaiian Shores colour!

We can't wait to see what your favourtie colour is!

Challenge: Friends!

Hey!

Happy Monday (bank holiday Monday for us here today - woo hoo!) I hope y'all ready for a fun new challenge?!

For this fortnight's challenge we want you to create something with a friend in mind...

For my example for this challenge, I won't surprise anyone by saying I inked up my Friends 'til the End stamp set! Though I was determined to not use the flowers as I always do in that set and instead focus on the words:

I'm hoping that this could almost pass for a masculine card with those colours, though is it too slushy to send a guy a 'friend' card?

Card Recipe
Stamps: Friends 'til the End
Ink: Versamark/Dark Chocolate/Scarlet Jewel/Antique Linen Distres Ink
Cardstock: Kraft/Scarlet Jewel/Ripe Avocado
Accessories: Ripe Avocado Ribbon/Jute Ribbon Twine/Dark Chocolate Button/Cuttlebug/Cuttlebug Embossing Folder

Over to Kate: "For my sample I reached for my beautiful In Bloom set, it's just the most gorgeous set to colour and is going to a very special friend :) I don't think you can tell from the picture but the flower is super glittery!

Recipe:
Stamps - In Bloom
Card - Kraft/Aqua Mist
Ink - Memento Black
Other - Copic Sketch Markers/Glitter/EK Success border punch

And as our featured stamper this month, here's Marinette's fabulous take on the challenge:

Papers: Bazill kraft, papers Turning a new leaf by Papertrey Ink,
Stamps: Papertrey Ink Delightful Dahlia/Daily Designs/Tiny Tag "Friend" from Mixed Messages

So here are the deets:

* All entries must contain at least one PTI product to qualify

* To enter, use our inlinkz thingy at the bottom of this post. If you're having problems then just leave a comment with a link to your post featuring the project on your blog or online gallery.

* Worldwide entries are more than welcome to share the inspiration and can be in with a chance of being a Top 3 PTI Passionista, but unfortunately prizes can only be shipped within Europe!

* Challenge closes on Monday, May 17th 2010 at 9.00am GMT

* A winner will be chosen at random to receive some PTI goodies! In addition to this, we'll select the top three creations we like the most and feature them on the Blog. The top three PTI Passionistas will have chance to display a Top 3 Passionista Blinkie on their own blog.

So start thinking 'friend', Peeps and go get inky!

Happy Easter!

Hey!

Happy Easter to those of you celebrating it! I'm not tucking into the chocolate eggs quite yet, though I'll admit that I've got a nice supply of 'em to keep me going for a while (if I share that is LOL!)

Today I'm sharing a card and a technique that I am guilt of not using enough!

Firstly, here's a card I made that was completely inspired by one of Nichole Heady's creations:

Here's Nichole's original and super amazing creation I got my inspiration from. I love how simple yet effective this card is!

I noticed as I looked at my card next to hers, that not only is it clear that she has more talent in her pinky than I'll ever aspire to have, but she's added such a subtle finishing touch to her card that completely brings this simple card to life! She's inked the edges!

I don't own the Tea Dye Duo Vintage Ink so armed with some Antique Linen Distress Ink and a sponge I got inky and returned with a card that still doesn't even come close to Nichole's, but is slightly improved nevertheless!

Card Recipe
All PTI Supplies Unless Stated
Stamps: Friends 'til the End
Ink: Versamark (Antique Linen Distress Ink after re-touch!)
Cardstock: White Blank from stash/Kraft
Accessories: Detail White Embossing Powder/Promarkers/White Gel Pen

So next time something is looking a little flat (no, not literally!) on your creation, think about inking the edges!

Right then, think I'm gonna have to cave in and scoff some chocolate! If you're not busy scoffing or doing anything else, there's still time to enter our current challenge y'know...

For Mum...

Hey!

So sorry I've been M.I.A recently, this week has been so busy! So busy that I've even been missing out on the PTI Countdown *gasp!* I need to catch up asap!

Fortunately my weekend has been a bit less busy, giving me just enough time to get some Mother's Day cards made for today! In my typical style, I'm leaving things to the last minute!

So with it being Mothering Sunday here in the UK today, Chris and I will be visiting our mums with some yummy gifts and an accompanying handmade card. I decided to CASE a card I'd made previously but in my dippy state, forgot to post here! D'oh!

Here it is anyways - better late than never!

This card was totally inspired from this card by Maile Belles. I loved that bright colour combo, so cheerful!
Card Recipe
(All PTI Supplies)

Stamps: Friends 'til the End
Ink: Summer Sunrise/Raspberry Fizz
Cardstock: Vintage Cream/Raspberry Fizz
Accessories: Raspberry Fizz Grosgrain Ribbon/Pink Gems/Decorative Scissors
/3D Foam Pads

So for Chris' Mother's Day card, I decided to CASE myself!

(Apologies for poor lighting, that'll teach me to try and take pics outta natural light!)

Shame I don't have a bold 'Mum' stamp but I think my old stash of transfers did the job OK!

Card Recipe
(All PTI Supplies)
Stamps: Friends 'til the End
Ink: Summer Sunrise/Raspberry Fizz
Cardstock: Vintage Cream/Raspberry Fizz
Accessories: Raspberry Fizz Grosgrain Ribbon/Doodlebug Transfers/Decorative Scissors
/3D Foam Pads

For my own card for my mum, I went with a completely different kinda style. I really like to try and make cards that people will like, rather than just ones that I like!

(Again, apologies for poor lighting!)
This card is very 'mum' with the cute polka dots and sweet blush. She's not a fan of green, but I couldn't resist a splash of it to represent the grass for those wellies! Before you think it, no, I don't own a gorgeous PTI Scalloped Border Die (yet!), but I did create this scalloped edge using a rectangular nestie twice and only cutting part way. You can't see the join hidden behind the sentiment (sneaky eh?!) But still, I'll be glad when I can just run a border die through my 'bug' to make life that bit easier!

Card Recipe
Stamps: Daily Designs/Daily Designs Sentiments
Ink: Sweet Blush/Spring Rain/Versamark
Card: Sweet Blush/Vintage Cream/Sweet Blush Bitty Dot Basics
Accessories: Cuttlebug/Nestabilities/Detail White EP/3D Foam Pads/Vintage Cream Satin Ribbon

Well I hope you've all had a fab weekend, it's a double celebration for us. I've got not only my mum to celebrate but my brother's birthday too! Yup, cue another masculine card to share with you very soon....!

Challenge: Nature!

Hello hello! It's Kate here - yes I am still alive lol! I'm sorry for having been MIA for a while - I must say a HUGE thank you to dear dear Aimes for keeping our l'il old blog going while I was on holiday - thanks hun, what a star you are!

So it's time for another challenge and this fortnight we're going back to nature - we'd like you to come up with a nature inspired project. So it can be flowers, trees, leaves or anything that says 'nature' to you!

For my sample I used three of my newest PTI goodies - the yummy leaf papers and matching stamp set and Dawn McVey's 'Say it With Style' sentiment set... this is going to be an absolute fave I can tell!

Recipe:
Stamps - Turning a New Leaf/Say it With Style
Card - Stamper's Select White/Spring Moss
Paper - Turning a New Leaf
Ink - Spring Moss/Dark Chocolate
Ribbon/Button - Spring Moss

Over to Aimes: "Hmmm...nature....well I would love to say there' s loads of it around me that I can relate to a PTI stamp set but that would be fibbing. So instead I turned to a stamp set that I hope will inspire nature to get a move on - I'm bored of winter now LOL!

This was created using a masking technique. The white border was simple; I simply used a white gel pen to draw around the nestability I used to cut out the Melon Berry panel.

Melon Berry is just one of those colours I tend to pass on so I really wanted to make it a feature on this card. I'm still not sure if I like it, but the recipient seemed to!"

I also decorated the inside of my card too, I've noticed that seems to be a trend around Blogland at the mo..."

Card Recipe
Stamps: Friends til the End
Ink: Dark Chocolate
Cardstock: Dark Chocolate/Melon Berry/Vintage Cream
Accessories: Cuttlebug/Nestabilities/Cream Vintage Buttons/Vintage Cream Satin Ribbon/Cream Ribbon Twine/White Gel Pen

And here is the fabulous sample from Dawn, this month's Featured Stamper:

Card Recipe Stamps: Everyday Buton Bits/Giga Guidelines Cardstock: Plum Pudding/Sweet Blush/Dark Chocolate DSP: Guidelines Mediums: Old Olive/Lavender Lace (SU)/Versamark Embellishments: Plum Pudding Satin Ribbon/Square Brad/Buttons from Stash Tools: Paper Cutter and Scorer/Snail Adhesive/Nestabilities (Labels 1)

What could you win?

One Sheet of each design of the gorgeous DP - Simple Valentine (6 sheets in total)

2 Sheets of coordinating cardstock in the following colours (6 sheets in total):

One foot (30cm) of ribbon of the following:

One Raspberry Fizz Cube Ink Cube in the NEW FORMULA which is a total dream to work with. It's a bit like a chalk ink and gives amazing coverage!

Now it's over to you! Here are the challenge deets:
  • All entries must contain at least one PTI product to qualify
  • To enter, leave a link below to your post featuring the project on your blog or online gallery. (We've just started using My Linky - hopefully it will be ok but if there are any problems please leave us a comment! Click on the Mister Linky Pic below to try it out!)
  • Worldwide entries are more than welcome to share the inspiration, but unfortunately prizes can only be shipped within Europe!
  • Challenge closes on Monday 8th February 2010 at 9.00am GMT

Scrap-tastic!

Hey!

If you ever pop across to any of the Senior DT for PTI you'll know that on the first of every month Nichole Heady sets them a challenge. Well this month she's challenged not only the Senior DT, but anyone else too! I couldn't resist joining in as the challenge is 'Scrap-tastic!' In other words, to use all those scraps, ribbon, paper, fabric etc....

Well I confess that I keep a HUGE bag of scraps, especially my PTI cardstock! I always justify keeping the littlest snippets by saying I'll use them with the tiny cushion stamp from my On My Couch Set LOL! I need to give that set more love, but I already had a different idea in my head for today:
Not a couch cushion in sight! I know it's VERY Clean and Simple! It took literally minutes to make; the longest part was heating the clear EP LOL!

Card Recipe
Stamps: Polka Dot Basics II/Friends til the End (sentiment)
Card: Stamper's Select White/Aqua Mist/Raspberry Fizz/Spring Rain
Ink: Versamark/True Black
Accessories: Cuttlebug/Nestabilities/Clear EP

So why not get rooting through your own scraps and join in the fun? You can link your creation directly on Nicole's blog here!

Raspberry Suite #19!

Hey!

I hope you've all had a wonderful weekend! Such a shame it flies by way too quickly for my liking - though I'm especially excited about next weekend! If you're wondering why, click here!

Today I decided to play along with Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Colour Challenge #19. Hard to believe we're on #19 already!
So these colours aren't the kind I'd stick together but that's what I like so much about these challenges! So I got thinking, and decided to use the picture of Dawn and Nicole posing beautifully in those gorgeous T-Shirts as my starting point:I hope you can tell where the T-Shirt is represented, otherwise I've gone wrong somewhere!

Still not sure about those buttons - they nagged me to be featured on this card but I'm not convinced they belong there! Well needless to say they're stuck down pretty firm so they're staying!

Card Recipe
Stamps: Fancy Flourishes, Friends 'til the End
Cardstock: Aqua Mist/Spring Moss Bitty Dot Basics/Stampers Select White
Ink: Spring Moss/Whispers Lovely Lilac/Raspberry Fizz/Aqua Mist/Dark Chocolate/Versamark
Accessories: Raspberry Fizz Polka Dot Ribbon (Reversed!)/Cuttlebug/Nestabilities/Detail Clear EP/PTI Buttons Holiday Mix

On more PTI news - Lauren Meader (who I adore - what a talented lady!) has decided to leave the PTI Senior Design Team! Though fear not, she's on a new adventure with her own store! I can't wait to see what PTI come up with in her place! Though Lauren could never be replaced, PTI always have such clever ideas up their sleeves so watch this space!

And finally, for all of you participating in the PTI ATC Christmas swap, you should have received an email by giving you the full deets! If you haven't received an email yet, please email us at apassionforpapertrey@yahoo.com so we can get back to ya!

Yummy Colours...

Hey!

Happy Tuesday! This week is flying by for me! I've been busy busy getting all those jobs done that I can't do during term-time including taking my car to the garage and it getting repaired for FREE! That's right, F.R.E.E! What PTI goodies shall I purchase next month with the pennies I put aside for the car?! ;D

Today I'm posting my entry for Dawn's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge. I finally got to play along with this one and I'm so glad I did as I just LOVED working with these colours:I'll confess that I CASEd myself for this one! I really liked the layout of my anniversary card for my honey that I wanted to play with it again!Went a tad overboard with my Distress Inks I think! I wanted to a achieve a rustic/vintage look contrasting against the modern colours - not sure I quite got it but as it's stuck down it's stayin'! LOL!As I was playing with my Friends 'til the End set I figured I'd show you what I think is the cool difference between just stampin' on plain coloured cardstock with that gorgeous flower and adding detail with a Versamark Pen:Pretty cool huh?! I think it really brings that gorgeous flower to life and the best part is - it sooooooo easy to do! I do plan to trim around the plain flower more and add the same detail btw - I just got kinda bored cutting this for a second time in a day!

Card Recipe
Stamps: Friends 'til the End/Fancy Flourishes
Inks: Vintage Cream/Dark Chocolate/New Leaf/Raspberry Fizz/Distress Inks Antique Linen & Vintage Photo
Card: New Leaf/Dark Chocolate Bitty Box Basics/Kraft/Raspberry Fizz/Vintage Cream

And on another note entirely...does anyone fancy being a featured stamper here on the PTI Blog?! Have you got a creation you think is totally fab and you'd like to share the inspiration with us? Or do you just fancy showing us your PTI style? Pop us an email if do because I'd love to make it a regular feature and don't even dare think we wouldn't be interested in YOU because we ARE! I know there's loadsa blogs/galleries out there adorned with PTI goodness that I truly admire and frequently drool over!

Right then gotta dash, off for a hair cut - I've booked a restyle but I know I'll end up with the usual trim! Typical me!
