A right royal challenge

Hello and welcome to a new challenge with a royal twist! So if you live in the UK it will not have passed you by that there is a certain royal event taking place next week, towns and villages are laden with bunting and flags and everyone is getting ready for a knees-up!

So we thought we would have our own Jubilee celebrations here on the blog by asking you to make a Jubilee-themed card!

I made my card for my god-mother who moved from the UK to California 40 years but is still passionately British. I thought a Union Jack card would make her smile:

Card Details:
Stamps: Fillable Frames 1
Ink: Enchanted Evening/Pure Poppy
Card:Enchanted Evening/Pure Poppy/Stamper's Select White
Other: Pure Poppy ribbon/scalloped border die/Fillable Frames 1 die

Over to Aimes
"For this challenge I indulged myself in the patriotic colours that seem to be already lining the streets in preparation for the celebrations:

Tag Thank You

Card Deets
{Thank You}
Stamps: Tiny Tags (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Card: Enchanted Evening (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Pure Poppy Bitty Stars (Papertrey Ink)/Diamonds (Uniko Studio Digital)
Accessories: Tiny Tags Die, Fresh Snow Twill Ribbon (Papertrey Ink)

I couldn't add a sentiment easily to this design with its mix of patterns so I opted for a tiny tag instead :)"

Over to Caryn:

I too chose to go with a red, white and blue colour scheme - well, it would be rude not to wouldn't it?!!

Card deets
Stamps: Hert Prints
Ink: Pure Poppy and Enchanted Evening
Card: Pure Poppy, Enchanted Evening, Stampers Select White.
Ribbon: from stash!

And here's what one randomly selected peep will win:

Swiss Dots ribbon - Melon Berry & Ocean Tides

Challenge: Super Circles!

Hey!

Welcome to a fabulous new challenge! We hope you're ready to ink along with us! :)

This fortnight we're honouring the most super of shapes - the circle! We know, we know: hexagons might be so on trend right now, but circles still rock! Afterall, a hexagon is just a circle with straight edges and points, right? *wink*

So my brain got tickin' for this challenge and I started stamping the circular image from Daily Designs. I wondered what pattern I'd end up with if I rotated the circle through 360 degrees....

Voila!

This pattern reminds me of one Christmas as a kid when I went crazy over my new toy: Spirograph! Did you ever have one of these? I used to make so many patterns with that baby and pin them on my pinboard to admire :)

If you're a visual learner, then here's a peek at how I stamped that image:

(Click for a larger image)

Spirograph, stamping stylee! I like it! :)

Over to Caryn...

Well I decided to go punchy with my card and broke open my Raspberry Fizz patterned papers and paired them with the Aqua Mist ones.  It was a simple case of punching circles from different papers and then layering them up to give this scalloped effect.  I die cut the letter from the block alphabet die and adhered them to a strip of AM card stock and that was it.

Here's Kate: "I had a real urge to stamp a circle background for my card so used my Mehndi Medallion set - technically some of them aren't true circles but hey! I'm loving this combination of Melon Berry, Aqua Mist and Harvest Gold!"

Card details: (PTI unless stated otherwise)
Stamps: Fillable Frames 1/Mehdni Medallion
Ink: Melon Berry/Harvest Gold/Aqua Mist
Card: Stamper's Select White
Other: Fillable Frames 1 die/Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers)/Aqua Mist button

Winners!

Hey!

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us with our last challenge, Whatever the Weather. We loved seeing how the weather inspired your creations, no matter what the weather was like outside!

It's time to pick a winner so do you thing, Mr.Random thingy-me-bob!

Here are your random numbers:
8 Timestamp: 2012-05-15 09:48:00 UTC

Number 8 is the lucky number for Sandie! Congrats! Email us at apassionforpapertrey(at)yahoo(dot)com with your postal addy and we'll get that prize out to ya!

For our Top 3 PTI Passionistas we were truly spoilt for choice! We finally decided upon the following:

We immediately fell in love with Bee's ultra-trendy chevron sunshine! We also loved that she used a fillable frame stamp as a cloud too - what a way to stretch those supplies!

Micholla had us wanting snow to appear more than sunshine with those beautifully stamped snowflakes. It might be May, but if we had these CAS beauties to hand out at Christmas, we'd be counting down the days!

Jenny's super sweet card would brighten up anyone's day! We loved the literal  'pocket of sunshine' and her fabulous stitching and embossing add so much texture!

Congrats ladies! Now we're having technical problems with our Top 3 Blinkie right now...it's decided to be naughty. If you send us an email then we'll send you the code once we fix it.

Thanks so much to everyone who joined in our challenge - we'll be back real soon with a new one!

Challenge: Whatever the Weather!

Wow - well, thanks to my computer trying to outrightly reject the new blogger layout I am finally able to  post this weeks new challenge (sorry for the delay!).

The challenge for the next fortnight is entitled "Whatever the weather" - perfectly appropriate if you live in the UK at the moment as we've certainly be having some "weather" here these last few days!!

For my card I went very "me" in that it is predominantly Pure Poppy and uses {one of} my all time favourites stamp sets - Scattered Showers.  I have said before but it's worth saying again.... those new inks are just GORGEOUS.  It makes me happy just looking at them!!

Card Deets:
{Cheer Up Buttercup}
Stamps: Scattered Showers
Ink: Pure Poppy
Cardstock: Pure Poppy, Stampers Select White, Beautiful Blooms pp
Dies: Heart Border, Label Basics, Scattered Showers.

Over to Aimes
"Hmmmmm...weather.....gotta admit that this challenge had me a little stumped for a while until I looked outside my window and inspiration struck:

Card Deets
{You Make Me Smile}
Stamps: Signature Greetings (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Cardstock: Orange Zest, Stamper's Select White, Lemon Tart (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories: Various ribbons in shades of Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold and Summer Sunrise (Papertrey Ink)

Yup, it was actually sunny! Right now that seems like a rarity!

This sun was super easy to create with a scrap circle of cardstock and scrap pieces of ribbon. The sentiment seems so fitting for a sun; in fact, I may dedicate this card to the sun in the hope that it will come out a little more *wink*"

And here's Kate: "Well this non-stop rain and flooding made me leap towards a set that shouted sunshine at me, this card came together in a flash and makes me dream of cocktails on a beach where it's NOT raining!!"

Card Deets:
Stamps: A Day at the Beach/Scattered Showers
Ink: Summer Sunrise/Harvest Moon/Aqua Mist/Raspberry Fizz/Smokey Shadow
Card: Stamper's Select White
Other: Oval die/Cuttlebig Swiss Dots Embossing folder

And the prize up for grabs this week is?
