Whether to weather the weather
I didn't used to ever listen to the weather forecast to plan my day, but something about living in a new place where I don't know what to expect season to season, has me checking the weather on my igoogle page frequently. Part of it is due to my fear of the winter. I am afraid that it is going to get so cold that I can't go outside and then I will get fat. So like on November 7 when I was so excited that the temperatures were going to be in the 70's that I just had to go to the park with my kids, this morning when I found out it was 59 I just had to walk Ariel to school instead of driving her. It was drizzling a little, but it was so balmy that it didn't bother me at first, although by the time we got to her school it was starting to really come down and by the time we got back home we were drenched. I still don't regret taking all my kids out in the rain because it felt warn and refreshing and when I got on the scale, I was 2 pounds lighter than I was yesterday (with wet hair mind you). That makes 13 pounds lighter than I was when we moved here and the lightest I have been since Dallin was born. Hooray! Yay for warm winter weather and whittling away my waistline. (Hows that for alliteration?)

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
-Marianne Williamson
“And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
-Antoine de Saint-ExuperyWe need always to ask what we are doing to our spirit. Is the divine within us being nurtured, or do our actions prevent the Spirit from becoming the predominant force in our lives?

Verse of the Day
Feb 17, 2011 Moses 6:32 And the Lord said unto Enoch: Go forth and do as I have commanded thee, and no man shall pierce thee. Open thy mouth, and it shall be filled, and I will give thee utterance, for all flesh is in my hands, and I will do as seemeth me good.
33 Say unto this people: Choose ye this day, to serve the Lord God who made you.
34 Behold my Spirit is upon you, wherefore all thy words will I justify; and the mountains shall flee before you, and the rivers shall turn from their course; and thou shalt abide in me, and I in you; therefore walk with me.
My thoughts: If God could give Enoch power to teach the people He also gives me power to teach my children, I need to remember to rely on that.

Matthew 14
25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

About Me
- Heather
- I am a mother of 5 children under the age of 9. I graduated from BYU with a Linguistics major and Russian and TESL minors. I went to grad school there to get my TESOL certificate and taught English as a second language for a few years until I transitioned to being a full-time mom. My family and I recently moved to Pennsylvania from Utah and we are getting used to living in this new place. My husband is from Ukraine and is enjoying his career designing spinal implants and other medical devices. I really enjoy blogging because it helps me stay in touch with family and friends and is a nice outlet for me to express myself, and reflect on my children's development. I really appreciate and welcome comments to my blog.

Questions that I am looking for answers to
How can I remember to see the best in people and give them the benefit of the doubt, in the moment that I am upset with them? Maybe a better question is how do I stop from getting upset so easily, but also not being apathetic?
How do I become one of those people who is calm and content, and knows just what to say to help others?
How do I become one of those people who is calm and content, and knows just what to say to help others?
Come on, everybody's doing it

Congrats on the weight loss! With my hair at it's wettest, and even when it was long it would never add more than a twelfth of a pound, my hair is so fine and straight. With YOUR hair, I imagine you could take off about 5 lbs. for the weight of the water in your hair! Do you straighten it these days? I remember it is/was super curly.
And I love the alliteration.
Hey, I've missed you! Glad you're back! Congrats on the weight loss--wow, 59 degrees IS balmy. It's been cold here in our neck of the woods. Brrr!!
"I am afraid that it is going to get so cold that I can't go outside and then I will get fat."
Is it wrong that I laughed out loud at this? Congrats on the weightloss. I told you that you looked really good! You should get the kids to do aerobics with you inside when it's too cold outside. Wouldn't that be hilarious? I remember doing that with my mom.
Congrats on the shrinking waistline! Glad to see you back!
