Digging out….

I’m alive!

I have been stitching a little, too:

my alternate December ornament:

RM LaceSnowflake

This is Rosewood Manor’s “Victorian Lace Snowflake” from the 2007 JCS ornament issue with DMC……..crap! where did my thread go???? on some kind of antique white even weave. And here’s my January ornament:

HinH Wee Santa 2010

Heart in Hand’s “Wee Santa 2010” on a 28 ct. Dirty Linen with suggested threads. This is one of my presents from Em & DB.

I also resumed my Quaker Halloween, but alas and alack, no picture today (I don’t feel like it!)

It hasn’t been very conducive blogging-wise lately. I’ve been fretting about the mess my house is in, but I took care of a lot of it by finally getting sick of my Xmas stuff being up and finally putting it all away Saturday. The mess made me not have a good place for photos. Plus Chickie keeps wanting to go out a soon as I start something, be it cooking, cleaning, typing, napping; you name it, I start to do it, and she needs to go out. She’s had a few accidents in the peeing department. So when I get an inkling that she needs to go, we GO! (Not that she’s good at giving hints either- I think she’s reading Stewie’s blogs over at the Spinster’s.)  Other  than that, she’s well on the mend, although the vet neglected to sign the spay certificate, which means I have to stop there one day after work so I can get my reduced-fee dog license. Here she is bring guilty:

Here’s a picture of Aslan:

He loves to hang out under the lamp. He hasn’t figured out that the fluorescents don’t emit heat like the incandescent. I’ve been giving him a spoonful or so of Chicken’s canned dog food (a new post-surgical development) twice a day to try to put some weight on him. He loves it!

I made a big pot of chili Saturday, and had it cooking in the oven while I packed things away. It came out very yummy!

My local town rebels and I have been keeping tabs on our town government still, just to keep them honest. It seems like they routinely have pertinent issues on their various agenda that require our vigilance.

More snow for Wednesday. My boss has already said the words “snow day”! YAY! Of course. it’s all dependant on those wicked awesome meteorologists. So accurate, dont’cha know.

Pets…

I brought Chicken to the vet for her annual check-up & shots. She has a hernia on her bum that the doctor is very concerned about. I have to schedule a consult with another vet who is equipped to do this type of surgery.

I also discussed Aslan’s inappropriate peeing, and she convinced me to bring him in for some blood work. Those results show that he may possibly have an infection deep in one of his kidneys. He’s on an antibiotic for 3 weeks, and then he’ll be re-checked. I don’t know how to tell if he’s no longer going to pee in places he shouldn’t. I’m certainly not keen to leave my bedroom door open to try it out! He’s a happy enough little guy, he’s just so skinny, and pees where he shouldn’t! I’ve tried cleaning the litter box more frequently; I suppose I could try getting a 2nd box, but I don’t think cleanliness is the issue with him.

Delilah just weighs as much as a concrete block with fur. That kitty is a TANK under there!

Don’t You Stitch???

As a matter of fact, yes, I do. Just not a whole hellofa lot lately. Here is 2 week’s worth of stitching on Quaker Halloween:

CS Quaker Halloween25

Crap- I forgot! My daylight bulb died last week! Don’t let it distract you from trying to figure out just what occurred on this piece since the last photo.

Will she finish this in time for Halloween at the end of the month? Will she ever cook again? can she post more than once a fortnight? (What IS a fortnight, anyway??)

“Move that light back towards me! I’m cold!”

Yes, he’s still amongst the living.

Stocking!

Here's my first Black Bird Design stocking completion:

BBD Mar 1

This is on 40 ct. linen with the requested threads (WDW?)

Here's the next March stocking:

Mar 05 That's the toe.

Here's a random shot of Izzie (aka Aslan) who was sleeping behind me in my computer chair:

We nicknamed him Izzie long before that chick on Grey's Anatomy. He's going on 12 years old.

Untitled

Sorry- not feeling very clever today; in fact, I feel a HUGE hormonal rush of sobbing just waiting to be triggered at the back of my eyes- SO DON'T START ON ME!

Here's my progress on Rites of Spring:

ROS 10

I should just try to finish it tonight.

Oooh! OOh! I'm so excited!! (Talk about mood swings!)

I got Toil & Trouble:

PSS Double Trouble

and the flosses I didn't have. Underneath, in the foreground, are 3 choices I have of fabric in my stash. I think I like the green-ish one on the right. I was drooling over it today at work, and noticed a couple of errors: One symbol isn't listed on the key, and another appears to be mis-symboled. I emailed Plum Street Samplers for clarification. This is my first time trying that: contacting the designer. Let's see if she responds. Most other people who've mentioned writing to other designers about errata seem to have good results.

Here's my pee-boy:

That's Delilah trying to be center of attention, as usual, the slut.

Here's a blurry Chicken (she's just too wiggly):

All right- here's Delilah her bad self on the left, playing coy with the camera:

OK- where'd my "labels" and "date" thingy go?

2nd Finish of the Year!

JBW Designs "Reindeer"
32 ct. Jobelan 'Lambswool"
WDW & Sampler Threads substitutions
I showed an angled view so you can see the beads; they're a little big, but they're what I had on hand.
Here's Aslan looking quite pleased with himself:

I know he's squinting from the flash, but that right eye looks a bit "off", doesn't it? He's ten now, and he's starting to show his age. Rosie (his sister) died a year ago. His fur is so "old cat" looking, or maybe because Delilah's is so lush & full in comparison. He loves his pats, though- even more than Chickie. I'm off to stitch on Creepy Kids (FOS) tonight.

A Well Deserved Day Off

I took Chicken to the vet for annual check up & shots; I brought Aslan along too because he's had a tiny sore enlarge to a small sore on his head, and then he ended up getting shots too.

Don't know what's going on with her mouth in that shot; but what can you do?
I finally got the baby quilt started for Avery. I have to go to Joann's for edge-sashing & backing fabric. My alignment skills leave a lot to be desired. But I don't think a baby will mind, do you?

It should be about 36" x 46" when finished. Then I have her little pillow to complete from the Thoughts of Baby sampler I stitched.
Which left me with T-day dinner Part 2 for supper tonight. Lots of yum there.

Biscornu Construction

I started putting my Xmas biscornu together today- I stitched the back side after my boss left. This is what I came up with for the back design: The little ticks under the date are for alignment guides.

Here it is under construction:
And another view:
Here are some shots of the little critters. My camera's shutter is kinda slow. I couldn't t get a good shot of Delilah- she just wanted to stuff her face. This first one is Aslan :
Delilah came running when I topped of the kibble bowl, but that's Aslan voguing for the camera. Chickie always gets a kitty bit too:
Off to wash dishes & watch Heroes. Good ride tonight- no one was there.
