Wizard of Oz is copyrighted

The other day my emails started coming into my inbox like crazy...
my messenger was binging so often, it sounded like someone
was firing a toy machine gun.

They were all emails, from Zazzle, telling me that
some of my products (each product gets its own email notification)
were being pulled due to copyright infringement.
Each email was on a different 'Wizard of Oz' item.

Well...I fired emails right back demanding to know WHAT
copyright I was violating.
The book is in the public domain and the image
was created by me and I OWN the copyright.

This is a portion of the email I got back the next day...
"Unfortunately, your product was removed due to an infringement claim by
 Warner Bros. Studios.
While the artwork as you claim is original,
the characters from the Wizard of Oz are currently
property of Warner Bros.
As a guideline, designs from the Wizard of Oz that are currently prohibited for sale
on Zazzle’s Marketplace are:

•    All inspired artwork and character renderings from the Wizard of Oz
•    Quotes from the Wizard of Oz Franchise
•    All tags and descriptions that reference the Wizard of Oz"

It seems that 'because they own the movie rights...they somehow
managed to acquire some kind of copyright
on
'Wizard of Oz'
and any likenesses thereof...
no matter how different they are.

Who knew???

Happy Holidays

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Holiday Season.
Things have been pretty busy at my house...
I managed to get all packages that were purchased prior to the 21st
in the mail and on their way..
hopefully in time for Christmas.
Now I need to get busy and get the rest of the orders
packaged and mailed.

My youngest son, moved to North Dakota right before Christmas last year...
surprised me by showing up at my door early morning Christmas Eve.
So all six kids were home for Christmas this year...
but we ended up having to call 911 Christmas night
because my poor 'baby' got so sick he threw up for two hours straight.
He had to go to the E.R. and get two units of fluid.

He's fine now...but I've been a little 'squishy'...so I'm taking the
day to just kind of stay put...

I should be printing and packing...but I'll have to wait and do that tomorrow.

My 'Guardians of Everlast' iPhone cases on Zazzle
were a big hit over the Holiday Season...
I was very pleased at how many of those were sold..
and they are continuing to sell:)

All in all...I've had a wonderful Christmas
and really looking forward to the New Year...
I'll be listing a lot of new pieces come January...
several new digital Steampunk pieces
will be previewed in my next post.

Zodiac Ornaments

I guess my mind has been on a thousand
other things...
trying to figure out what I wanted to do in the New Year.
I meant to show these Zodiac Ornaments...as I'm really happy with
how they look...I think I'll order the entire set
throughout this next year, to have for myself.

Anyway..
I did one for each Zodiac Sign...with my girls...
and they are available in my
Rustic Goth Zazzle Shop.

Zodiac Girls Updates....

I've done a lot of work with my
'Zodiac Girls' the past
week or so.

After the Scrabble Tile Pendants,
I decide to list all the 'girls'
as 8" x 10" prints.  They are listed together with the 5x7's.

I've made each one into iPhone cases on Zazzle
and
included them on my Fine Art America site
where they are available as greeting cards, regular prints and
canvas prints.

I will be offering them as bookmarks (at some point)
and sometime in the Fall
as pocket mirrors.

That will probably be 'it' for my girls...
but it's been lots of fun to see what all I can do with them.

Save the Date Postcards

I designed this 'Save the Date' postcards
a few weeks ago.
I used my little 'Betrothed' Goth Couple...
and I really like how it turned out.

I sell quite a few of my 'Betrothed'
Save the Dates
but wanted to design something especially for
Zazzle.
This is what I came up with.

My little 'list' books are coming in Handy!

With the kids coming over every day...starting Monday...
I know that I'm not going to get a lot of painting done.

(Although Jaime and I are kind of 'discussing' something that we might try
to work on...if at all possible, during that time.)

So...my little list books are really coming in handy...
as I make my lists of what I need to get done during this time.
I'm working on the Zazzle sites...all computer work...
and I'm designing all new lines...for Zazzle...
and I will be replacing a lot of the photos on my new website
with the collections...as they are finished.

The lists really do help me keep all my ducks in a row:)

Licensing and Zazzle Sites

I have a limited amount of space in which to store
original art...
even the art covers are beginning to
take up space in the little container I am using
to store it in.

So...with that in mind...and needing to 'gear' up for fall...
I've begun to slow up a bit in creating new pieces.
I'm still creating..mind you...just not as much as I have been
the past few weeks.

Instead...I've begun to divide my time between my Shop..
Promoting my art and the first stages of
art licensing.

I've decide to really clean out my Zazzle shops.
I started each of them without a lot of knowledge about art licensing...
only to discover that a Zazzle shop is,
for all intents and purposes...
a form of licensing.

So...over the coming weeks...my shops will end up looking pretty
sparse as I create new product lines...and looks...for each one of my shops.
I think it will be very helpful as I search for an agent to represent
my art.

My Fine Art America Site

I have 'updated' my
Fine Art America site
to make...
stretched canvas prints...
large framed prints...
and even Greeting Cards...
of my art
available for sale.

For several years I have searched for
companies that would do this for me,
so that I could offer them in my Etsy Shop
but the price was just too prohibitive.

It's also difficult for me to know which prints
would make the best greeting cards...
and most companies require a minimum order
per design...
so..
Fine Art America does all this for me.

I do have some similar items available in my
Zazzle shop
but what really 'sold' me on
Fine Art America was the canvas prints
and
participation in the
ABC/ Disney licensing program.

So...I don't have a lot of items on my
Fine Art America site...yet...
but I will be adding new pieces throughout the coming
days..weeks and months.

I'll have a lot of my Rustic Goth pieces listed..
so that they can be available in ways that I am unable to offer
in my Etsy Shop.

It's Been a 'Busy' Week

I finally got all my shipping caught up...
working on some new pieces for the shop
including
1000 Markets and Artfire.

In the meantime, I'm also trying
to get some products designed
for Zazzle

... while working on a commission painting
which is similar to a piece that I
had in a local gallery almost a year ago.

How nice that the buyer remembered my
painting, tracked down the gallery owner
(who had to close the gallery because of the economy)
and asked specifically for that piece.
Luckily the gallery owner had kept everything she
had in the gallery on disc...so she was able
to verify which piece the buyer was talking about.

Recent News....

I was recently featured in
Etsy's Dark Side Street Team's
There are some 'wonderfully creepy'
pieces featured...

I did an interview with
Tabz at Gothic Toggs on Zazzle
which will run in her blog..
though I don't actually know when at this time...
I'll post a link when it is published.

I've put some new stuff in my
Rustic Goth Zibbet Shop
that are exclusive to that shop,
I'll be adding more exclusive pieces in the coming
days and weeks.

I've got some Rustic Goth designs
ready for licensing...
but I need about a dozen designs
before I begin to submit them..
main thing is...I've begun!

Halloween products...

now I'm
"thinking Christmas"

turned this cute little image
into this Christmas Card.

Today's BEST Award

Okay...I got the award on September 29th...
but, I've been so darned busy that I hadn't checked
my Rustic Goth email for a couple of days.
The "Today's Best Award"
was on this
flyer.

I have no idea how one receives the award...but
I am quite flattered!

If you get a chance to check
it out.
It's on my Rustic Goth Zazzle site
and you can see it here.

And..if you like it...and you've a 'mind' to give it another
vote...
that would be so very nice.

I have SHOES

I have SHOES in my
Rustic Goth Zazzle Shop!

I think they all turned out really great...
and I'm planning on making a bunch
more.

Zazzle has to approve all of the designs
before they post...
so they take a bit to show up.
But...I'm thinking that I want to
do several new designs every week.

I know that I want to buy some of
these for myself...now I'll have
to "pick and choose"
which designs I would most like to have:)

Trick or Treat!

I have really neglected my
Rustic Goth Zazzle Shop
in recent months.

So for the past week or so...
(yes I really should be working on my next show)
on adding some new items
to my Zazzle Shop.

I created this sweet little
"Trick or Treat" bag
for the shop!

Currently have one other...
that is quite affordable...
you can find that one
here.

Check them out...
and I'd sure appreciate it
if you would
vote on these items for me.
Thanks so much!

New Products in Rustic Goth Zazzle

I have been so bad about neglecting my
Rustic Goth Zazzle Store.

I've been somewhat better at the
CMZ Art Zazzle Store....but only slightly.

But...I spent last week-end working on new products
in both stores.
What is really cool....
I have designed some really great
Keds Shoes
based on a few of my original paintings.

Rustic Goth Zazzle Shop

I LOVE....LOVE...LOVE this little Mug!
I'm going to be ordering a set
as soon as I put some new pieces on
to go with it.

I cannot believe I have been so 'remiss' in getting
all of my wonderful little Rustic Goth
pieces added to products
available in my Rustic Goth Zazzle Shop.

So....I am taking this last week of May
to get more items into this shop.

A New Year...

You might not be able to tell
by looking at my
but I have been busy.
I had a wonderful Holiday Season,
celebrating Christmas and welcoming
the New Year,
with my family.
And...in between the visiting and the celebrating...
I have actually been pretty busy.
and I've been working hard to keep it.
I've got a few new pieces
in the works that I hope to
have in the Shop
sometime this week-end.
I'm working on putting a lot of new
items in my
by month's end.
I'm pretty excited about everything
that I currently have going..
I'll be even more excited
when I am able to get
everything finished and posted.
I'll post previews, as I get them finished.
Now..I need to get busy and get some
new Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
ready to post.

T.C.B.

My little 'creepers' are busy at work.
We're 'taking care of business'.....
I am in the process of opening a Rustic Goth Zazzle Shop...
we'll have a number of new items that are exclusive to Zazzle.
I am hoping we'll be ready to go with this site by mid July.
My little 'creeper' dolls have finally gotten
underway. These are slower going that I had anticipated.
Each little face is hand painted, in stages...and each stage
has to be completely dry before I can proceed with the next.
I want to have the first doll, in my Rustic Goth Etsy Shop...
again...
by mid July!
Those are my "hopes"...if the little guys 'co-operate'!
