Fourth of July Long weekend

I decided to use pictures to capture my long Fourth of July weekend. Sorry the pictures are in no particular order because I'm tired and I still need to get groceries before I go home for the day (sigh).

Of course, I went for a walk and the "orange army" followed me. Funny story the other day the "kids" got distracted and didn't follow me home. They usually make their way back but not this time. I went for a walk the following evening and half way back I heard the boy talkign to me from the field so he followed me back to the driveway. Then we heard the girl but couldn't find her for awhile. She was back up by the stoplight between the dirt and chipped road. She wouldn't head back my way until I walked back up to her, she greeted her brother, and then she would follow me back home. Have I mentioned lately that cats are weird?

On Friday, one of my neighbors was shooting off fireworks so I admired them from my yard (sorry the picture is so dark). I think next year I will try to go to a fireworks display and watch fireworks.

I photographed the first tiger lily to bloom; now I think there are 4 or 5 different ones blooming. They are slow to start but then they stick around for awhile.

I took some pictures of the blooming day-lilies. I think this is one that did not bloom last year. There are a couple blooming this year which I don't think bloomed last year; I could be wrong but I don't think so.

Pandora being cute and well behaved in an attempt to get me to pick her up and pet her. So I took a picture and then petted her. (Please don't look at my bad toe-nail polish, I haven't had time to repaint my nails; hopefully this weekend)

Tzani wanted to go outside and sit on the porch. She hadn't been in physical contact with the outdoor cats since January so she had to re-introduce herself. They get along with her and she with them. I was sort of hoping the neighbors black and white cat would come along so Tzani could let him know how irritated she is with him attacking and chasing our boy kitty. She will sit in the window and if he does this she will start talking to me about it and hissing at him at the same time. Apparently, she thinks the orange kitty's are hers so they should be left alone.

Life with Pandora

When she first moved in, she had to be in a dog kennel so she could adjust to her surroundings.
As she got adjusted she discovered new places like the rocking chair in the living room aka "my bedroom."

Monopolizing one of Woudin's hiding holes.

To be fair, Woudin returned the favor by checking her quarters out.

Pandora, also, likes being nosy and getting into my things.
After, several days I decided to let Pandora out of the kennel during the day while I was at work. I came home one day and found Tzani hiding from Pans "territoriality" issues.
Now, you know why I have string “locks” on the cabinets in the kitchen.
There were a few times that Pan put herself away.

Tzani learned early that if she put herself higher than Pandora then she's declared the winner of "territoriality!"

Yup, life with Pan is interesting! Having her here is nice, while I was sick she followed me around and would sit on my lap and purr to me. Neither of my cats is a lap cat so it's nice to have a lap cat around the house. It's not so nice when you are trying to do your homework but we are trying to negotiate that out.

Cousin Pandora has Landed!!

I guess reality has finally sank in; my closest family is really and truly leaving for Fort Hood.

We all knew this day was coming... first I moved into their house, learned the ins and outs of country life, and now Anne's cat Pandora has arrived to live with me until they return from Fort Hood.

The ride from Anne's place to "my" house was mostly quiet. Pan would occasionally talk to me and rub her head against my fingers. I moved her into the bathroom where she stayed while I set up the dog kennel in my bedroom, cleaned the dog kennel tray, set up the kennel, and then while I took a shower. She was okay with ALL of this, purring to me and talking.

However, Pandora's happiness quickly went down the tubes when she discovered Woudin outside the bathroom. She would growl and hiss at him while he moved around my bedroom. There for awhile I think she may have thought he was Isabelle (her Dad's cat, i.e. arch-nemesis). The reason I thought this was that she saw Tzani but didn't hiss at her just at Woudin. Then bedtime came and Tzani was on my bed and moved so I could curl up in the bed. Hiss, growl, growl, hiss from the kennel. Yup, Pandora is really NOT happy; she has finally realized there are TWO OF THEM and ONE OF HER.

I slept the whole night without any problems from the "children." This morning was entertaining...... I let her out of the kennel for awhile so she could explore and get readjusted (remember she lived here before we moved in). While, I was in the bathroom I heard unhappiness from Pan and then Woudin comes racing into the bathroom. Poor Woudin he just wants to be friends and I told him Pan is scared and needs some time. I put Pan back in the kennel so she could watch the household from the safety of "home (kennel with her cat box, toys, basket, food, and shirt from mom)." While I was exercising, Tzani came into the bedroom, just talking away, Pandora hissed and growled at her for awhile, and finally Tzani hissed back which shut Pan up. Then Tzani looked at me like whats her problem, mom? and then went mumbling and talking to herself back into the kitchen.

When I left the house, my cats were in the living room looking at Pan and she was looking back.

At times, I think Pan is just being unhappy for show. This morning she was standing on her back legs trying to see what my cats were up to and she seems interested in them but as soon as I'm around Growl, Growl, Hiss, Growl, Growl. She's just going to have to come to grips with the fact that she has to share "Aunt Angela."

Don't worry Anne- I'm sure we will be fine it just takes some getting used to and the weekend is coming up so provided I don't have to get my tires on Saturday, I will stay home with the "children" all weekend and play referee while they learn how to get along. :)

Note- I will have to take pictures but I just haven't yet.
