Watercolouring {Yippee!}

Happy Friday eve! I am so excited because I tried something different! I have dabbled before but usually I do not like what I create. Usually I stick to my style but I love all of the watercoloured cards and floral images I have been seeing. I needed to give it a whirl! I have all the product to make this style of card and so the WPLUS9-Throwback Thursday challenge was the perfect way to be inspired...especially the watercoloured backgrounds of Maureen's cards. This is my first real attempt at this technique but I hope to explore some more. You probably have tried this before but I thought I would share my steps.

  1. I stamped my image in Versamark ink onto watercolour paper.
  2. Then I heat set it with white embossing powder.
  3. Then I got the paper wet with my water pen...in the areas I wanted to add ink.
  4. Then I used some distress inks and allowed the ink to flow into those wet areas.
  5. Then I heat dried my panel with my heat gun.
Keeping the design simple, I added a strip of vellum washi tape across the card base and matted the image with black paper. I stamped the sentiment in black ink. I added some twine at the bottom to tie in the watercolour paper tone.

I am playing along with the following challenges:

CASE this Sketch & Time Out Challenge

Thursday is here! Wow, the week is flying by. I have noticed this week that I am SO tired. It is strange as I have been eating well and exercising but for some reason, I am just plum exhausted. I think it may be the shorter days...I need to start taking my vitamin D again. Is winter over yet?

Today I am sharing a card I made for the current sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch and I am thrilled to be the guest over at the Time Out Challenge. Yay! A couple of weeks ago, I won their challenge and one of the perks is that I get to be a Guest Designer. Thank you, Sandie for this opportunity. This challenge is a cool one...it is all about Embossing and Sparkle! Woot!!! Two of my favourite things!

With Christmas coming around the corner, I went into my craft stash and decided to make another Poinsettia card! I was on a kick! I used Bright Spirits from VERVE once again and my Spellbinders poinsettia die! The poinsettia is dry embossing and the sentiment is in gold glitter embossing powder. I hope you find the time to play along with either challenge!!!

Time Out Challenge

I found a brand new *to me* challenge tonight on Lynn Mangan's blog. It is called the "Time Out" Challenge and it is all about taking time to craft for fun! I was intrigued by the inspiration and played along! This card is A LOT busier than my normal style but it was fun playing with my inks and a couple of images to create my own background. I really did take some time for me to play along!

This is the inspiration card by Heather.

The card we had to CASE is HERE...have a look at how pretty it is! My "twist" is I made my card a basic one layer card and added a small strip of paper with twine on top...to break it up! I didn't sponge the background either, I used the same tones but used a script stamps to create the background of this card.
