Friends Warm My Heart...

If you read my blog, then you know that Cath over Moxie Fab World is celebrating the new 365 Cards publication with some AWESOME challenges. This one is for the Pay It Forward challenge.

This little card was a challenge in itself...the whole thing is paper pieced right down to the tiny scarf on the little bird and the snowman's stick arms!!

I wanted this card to have a lot of dimension....
You can't really see it, but there are silver snowflakes on the banner and the sky & snow have an iridescent sheen. I ran the "snow" through a cuttlebug before I spritzed it with a shimmer spray then free hand cut the snow drifts. I added foam tape here and there under the snow and under the head of the larger snowman so it wouldn't lay too flat.

Say Cheese...

Moxie Fab is truly celebrating the new 365 Cards publication in style...Cath has given us challenge after challenge...WHAT FUN!!!! This one, or two in this case is "Celebrating Hobbies" and the "Celebrating Relationships" challenges.

Lawn Fawn has the cutest camera / Polaroid stamp...I just knew it would be perfect.
I really do take TONS of pictures of Moe...he's such a ham and will actually pose!
I wanted to keep the background simple and decided on some simple paper strips in a subtle color. I carried the patterned paper over to the camera by paper piecing the 2 bottom panels and the little strip where the picture shoots out. I added some glossy accents to the flash and camera lens for a glass effect. I used a cream cardstock for the Polaroid then distressed it with vintage sepia ink and added a sentiment. Hope you liked it!

Autum Wood...Tuesday Trigger

Ohh what fantablous colors fall brings us...warm rich tones of greens, golds, reds, oranges and browns...I could go on forever...but I won't ;) You can thank me later! *insert giggles*

This weeks Tuesday Trigger from Moxie Fab World is showcasing those wonderful colors using this amazing stained wood post wall thing...it truly is lovely!

Well, here's what I came up with...
I had a terriable time getting a picture of this card! My camera isn't working so I had to use my phone and it just won't capture the copper glitter and warmness of all the colors I used. No mater what I did, the yellow looks bright, but in reality it's a lovely orange-ish yellow..sigh.

Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!

Tuesday Trigger...finesse the dress

Cath over at Moxie Fab World has given us another wonderful Tuesday Trigger item to inspire us!Isn't this dress adorable...It's flirty and sophisticated all in one.
Funny how you start a card how you think you want it, that it turns out so differently. I had envisioned heat embossing...glitter...something sorta sassy maybe. Well, I ended up with simple...elegant...timeless. You just go where the card takes you ;)

No matter how I took the picture, you couldn't get the true effect of the papers I used. All the papers came from DeNami Design. The black is a true deep black and the silver & aquamarine colored cardstocks have a slight shimmer to them. I wish you could see it in real life...the effect is great. Of course I had to finish it all up with a yummy sheer iridescent ribbon and bow :)

Treat Yourself to a Tuesday Trigger......

I tell ya, Cath over at Moxie Fab World never fails to amaze me with her truly inspirational pictures she throws at us for her Tuesday Triggers! This weeks trigger is simply scrumptious...Check it out...YUMMY!

Besides having me seriously drooling...I just love the warm rich tones.

Here's my little card....
In case you can't tell, I pulled the colors from the picture for my card... warm golden & orange tones of the wonderfully gooy caramel , the rich burgundy red of a delicious crisp apple, the deep chocolaty brown of that scrumptious brownie and the cream from the pillow clouds of whip cream...excuse me, drooling again ;)

For the background I actually stamped a patchwork quilt. I used a stitch border stamp and did a random pattern, then stamped inside each "quilt block" to create my quilt. Fussy cutting those leaves on the sentiment panel was A LOT of work...but I just love them :)  The sentiment panel is poped up on foam tape...I stamped the Jack O'Lantern trio then masked them off and then used the other Jack O'Lantern that I had used on the background.

A little closer look...

Queen Of Hearts...

Being a little stressed for time…I decided to do something I have never done before. I hate to do it, but there are only 24 hours in a day…and sometimes I just need more! I made this card for two separate challenges…I know what you’re thinking…lots of people do that all the time, but hey, I’m not lots of people and I just don’t do it…There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just not my thing is all.

So Cath over at Moxie Fab World challenged us with playingcards…hmm, that gave me a little pause…never tackled something like that before.

And then there was this great sketch over at Lilypad Cards (everyone knows I puffy heart a sketch challenge!)…

If you have been following me here or on the DeNami Addict site, you know I LOVE making my own background paper. I decided with this card to take it a step further and make the cards too! I was going for the whole “card suites & harlequin / heart” romance thing….

I made my “playing cards” from a EK tag punch (I just cut the top off and rounded 2 corners for a little flair) and stamped them.  They are lifted up on pop dots as is my sentiment. I think it turned out nice for not having a red ink pad, I used a marker to color in my stamps, the small ones are usualy no problem, I do it all the time, but I was worried about that large harlequin border. I really wanted to add glitter to all of the red hearts throughout the card, but as with most of my cards lately it’s designated for OWH and we just can’t add that little extra bling...just use your imagination and pretend all my little red hearts sparkle, mmkay? Hope ya liked it :)

Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger - Garden Glory

Don't ya just LOVE this picture Cath over at Moxie Fab World came up with....yummy! I couldn't decide which elements to use for my inspirational card....so I chose all of them! The colors, the pattern from the chair, the floral element from the pillow, the shapes from the square book and round table...

For the background I dry embossed then I tried something I have never done before...I've seen gals stamp distress inks onto a stamp block (for clear stamps), spritz it and use the special little tool with the felt pad to swirl them together then onto the paper. I actually used 2 colors of green and one blue...Not too bad for a first time I think. For the flower I used pencils and gamsol...I heart that effect!

Would you like to list your supplies like I do...here's a code for Inlinkz 40415796...give it a try, it's free until December!!

Vertical Sketch Challenge, card #2 - Moxie Fab World

Ohh how I heart a good sketch...something pleasing to the eye and easy to work with...This sketch has it all! This vertical sketch challenge over at Moxie Fab World just calls to me...I simply could not resist doing an additional card for this one!

Here's the sketch...

And here's my second card...
To make the 3 little focal points I stamped 2 of the keys directly on the card in black and for the larger middle one I used a key (from 7 gypsies I think) hung on a piece of black wire.

Shaped sketch challenge - Moxie Fab World

Wow, these sketch challenges have really been a blast! Hats off to Cath over at Moxie Fab World for such a FUN challenge!!  This shaped challenge was supposed to be first...but like a normal procrastinator, when I'm pushed outta my sparkly little box, I save the hardest for last. I have never made a shaped card...I'm a plain ole rectangle let the embellishments speak for themselves card kinda gal. However, that being said, after making this card, I can certainly see lots more shaped cards in my future!

Here's the sketch we were to use...

And here's my card.....
I dusted off the Cricut and die cut (shadowed so they were connected) the flower from pink card stock then cut a single one from patterned paper to overlay it. I added a plain burgundy card stock circle and overlayed that with my accordion fan folded circle that I made using four different patterned papers and a plain pink (all from the same collection) to separate the four areas. I made the stick pin and added all the pretty little elements then tucked the sentiment up underneath.
Did you notice my little butterfly, he's actualy made up from 3 layers...I heart that punch!

Supplies:

The Cricut cartridge I used was "Bags, Tags, Boxes & More and the papers were from Basic Grey

Horizontial Sketch (card #2) - Moxie Fab World

I really LOVE this little sketch and was playing with it a little more even after having a card done for the challenge. Cath over at Moxie Fab World has really out done herself!

Here's the sketch again (scroll down to see my 1st entry)...

I played around with it and reversed it...
That black and white with just a pop of red makes me smile! I used red for the first time in a card the other day and thought I needed to get outta my box more and give it another try...so happy that I did!
My first thought was to just heat emboss the swirly flower thing and boxes, then I remembered that I just got a bottle of Onyx glitter...what a great opportunity to try it out. I've never used black glitter before...don't ya just love how it looks?

I'm not sure who the stamps are by...sorry (Figured it out!!! They are by Inkadinkado)

Horizontial Sketch (card #1) - Moxie Fab World

Wow, these sketches Cath, from Moxie Fab World pulled from the new issue of Papercrafts Card Ideas are just awesome! Here's another one from the four challenge sketches...
And here's what I came up with...
I love how girly this card is and can't wait to send it to a good friend!

I just puffy heart pink and black together...throw in some bling and I'm in Heaven!! I have to admit that I did get just a little carried away with the glitter...there are 3 different colors of it on that flower alone! I have to blame it on DeNami Design...maybe if they didn't have such wonderful colors of glitter I wouldn't be forced to use so much ;)

Vertical Sketch Challenge - Moxie Fab World

I have to say that this sketch kinda perplexed me. However, I'm glad that it did! I have been sooooo out of my comfort zone lately that I don't know if I can find my way back...I think that's a good thing, don't you? Well, as you all know, Cath over at Moxie Fab World had REALLY been testing us and pulled 4 sketches from the new Papercrafts Card Ideas for us to try out. I already tried out this one. here's another one for your viewing pleasure (well I hope so anyways!).

And here's what I came up with...
I just LOVE that sentiment from DeNami Design...it's so versatile, I could write anything on the inside and it would work! I used super thin black wire on the bird cages and popped them up on foam tape for a little added dimension. To give the little birdies a little sumthin sumthin I added a little Crystal Lacquer. You can't tell from the pictures, but they are a little raised and have a nice little shine.

*Blogger note: I have a little secret to share with you guys...But I can't tell you until Saturday! It's about how I...Ohhhh I almost said something I shouldn't!! You just have to wait until Saturday the 3rd....

Square Sketch Challenge - Moxie Fab World

With the new Card ideas from Paper Crafts being released, Cath decided celebrate and challenge us in a dramatic way...four seperate sketches from the new issue!!

Here's the first sketch...
And here's my take on it...

I had to do a lot of fussy cutting for the tickets and since the sentiment is all one piece I did a lot of masking...but it was so worth all the effort!

Girly & Gutsy - Moxie Fab Trigger Tuesday

Ohh has Cath ever found a most wonderful picture to tease us with for our Tuesday Trigger! I just LOVE LOVE LOVE it! It's so posh and the colors...we all know that pink and black is my fave color combination...then they threw in that splash of yellow for a kick...ohh my! It totally brings back fond memories of another Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger.

While looking at this beautiful picture, it occurred to me that it was pretty much like my "go to" card sketch...a top panel, a  bottom panel and a border thru the middle with a focal point. So, I decided to just simply, make the room...I could do this with my eyes closed, after all, when all else fails, this is my "go to" design!

And here it is....

I brought in the pink walls with the beautiful chandeliers at the top, the black table with daring yellow chairs in the center, the white rug with the black flourishes at the bottom, then topped it all off with the round mirror and floral arrangement as the focal point...all set on what looked to me to be a black floor.

I hope you like my take on the picture....

SUPPLIES:
Stamps - Lawn Fawn (how delightful) & Hero Arts (flower) & unknown (flourish)
Cardstock - Denami Design (black & white) & hobby Lobby (pink)
Ink - Memento black ink pad & Tombow markers
Stickles - star dust
Ribbon - Offray sheer yellow
Punches - Marvy scallop circles & EK border

botanical challenge - card #2

The wonderful people over at Moxie Fab World and given us yet another awesome challenge...fanatical about botanical! Cath is trying to get us thinking in a whole nother direction when it comes to the trendy botanicals. We see the beautiful botanical theme everywhere but if you’re like me, when you use botanicals in your card making it usually ends up more on the whimsical side. Making a botanical themed card that IS NOT whimsical…now that’s a challenge!

Isn’t it funny when you have an idea in your head, but when you sit down to sketch it out or to make the card, your run in a whole other direction? When I saw this challenge and gave it a good thought, I pictured a classic black and white card with an acetate overlay where I would place a pretty little rub on that I’ve been hording and maybe attach it with a pretty ribbon. When looking for the stamp that matches the rub on that I wanted to use, I pulled out several other “floral” stamps…they just called to me, I had to switch gears…I ended up making 2 separate cards that were NOTHING like my vision.

Items Used:
Color: Roseart colored pencils, Stampin Up lavender Lace chalk
Stamp: DeNami Design #P75 Lilac
Bling: The Paper Studio
Ribbon: Hobby Lobby
Other: Gamsol
Cardstock: green, chocolate, purple, white
Pattern: May 2008 Card Maker Magazine

Please check out my other card and that of the awesome folks over at Moxie Fab World!

Trigger Tuesday - Moxie Fab World

Isn’t it just yummy!?!?!  As soon as I saw the picture for the Tuesday Trigger challenge over at Moxie Fab World I knew I just had to make a card…I was just too inspired to sit out!

The challenge is really our interpretation.....
When I look at this darling little coat framed by that pretty soft pink background, so many things come to mind… the back ground and the style of the coat is romantic, posh and sophisticated, but the color of the coat…ohh my… how daring, flirty and sassy!  It immediately made me think of the “Mimi” line of stamps from DeNami Design. Mimi is all that aaaand a bag of chips (insert snapping of fingers). She’s truly a moxie kinda gal ;)    I just acquired the perfect Mimi stamp for this challenge and couldn’t wait to get home and make this card!

How adorable is she with her sophisticated hair style and posh stance...throw in the daring yellow rain slicker and matching boots with that sassy pink sparkly umbrella and you got a whole lotta moxie!

Supply List:
Papers
Card stock – white, pink, yellow, black
The Paper Studio (chandelier)
Doodlebug (umbrella & accent strip in center) - can't tell from the pic, but it's sparkly

DeNami Design – Mimi in the rain

Color
Tom Bow markers
Zig metallic marker
Staz-On black

Other
Spellbinder die
Pop dots
Tape runner
Ribbon – Hobby Lobby
Bling – EK (black) & The Paper Studio (yellow)

This challenge was awesome...Thanks Cath for such an exciting time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
