Our Family

Our Family
This is a blog about our family. My journal of our adventures. We're just trying to do our best raising 2 crazy kids (or maybe we're the crazy ones). Eight years of marriage under our belts, and still lots of new adventures and surprises on this road called life.

In loving memory of my mom- Kathleen Nelson Higgins May 11, 1954-December 29, 2008. She is my warrior and I wear pink in honor of her.

February

February has been a fun month- thankfully to pass the winter blues.
A couple of weeks ago we went to Idaho to visit Grandma & Grandpa Moon.
Aunt Deborah and Olivia rode with us, so that was an unusual and fun adventure.
We spend some time at Blast Off! and everyone loved it. Wild Man Max went wild for the ball pit.

Grace suiting up for her first climb with Daddy.
Cousin Olivia's first time in the ball pit.
She did great, even amidst Max's craziness in there with her.

*Valentine's Cookies*
The week before Valentine's Day we made a 1 year tradition only of going to Ami's house in Provo to make cookies!
Ami is moving to Denver soon- hence the 1 year tradition.
Ami makes heart cookies for everyone in her family every year and puts their names on them.
Awesome.
I remember Ami's mom doing the same thing for my first grade class and getting a cookie with my name on it and feeling like $1 million bucks.
The tradition carries on.

Precision.
That is Ami making the best butter cream frosting with Lucy strapped to her front.
Ami can certainly make a mean sugar cookie.
She is all the more talented doing it with a new baby in the mix.

Max and Simon testing the goods.
Happy Late Valentine's Day.
For Valentine's Day this year we had a fun dinner at home with the kids.
Grace decorated the table, we lit candles, and had heart shaped waffles with plenty of whipped cream and strawberries.
Holidays with these two are getting so fun and worth all the effort.
We may have made and eaten lots of Valentine's treats this year but the best part was Grace and Max by my side enjoying it as much as I do!

Ha, Ha

NBD.
That is what I'm telling myself.
I posted a post today that was supposed to go in my personal journal/blog.
Ooops.
Good things friends are so good and are so loving and caring.
Adam and I are just trying to make some decisions on the next step in life.
Agency is a wonderful thing and a hard thing at the same time.
Grateful to have the gospel.
Grateful for awesome people in this world.
Grateful to get out to the zoo this afternoon with a good friend (pics to come).
So. . .I'm leaving this day with a memory from Dublin.
I miss Ireland.
Hope to go back someday with my family.
Serving a mission there would be sweet, too bad you don't get to choose :).
Needless to say, as all the Irish stuff is hitting the stores for St. Patty's Day-
I long for that isle of green, clogging Irishmen & women, and the personal concert by Ronan
all the more.
Ireland is awesome!

Grace Update

Grace had a busy January. Even though we didn't even make it out of town (which is strange for us), she got some fun things in.
Adam took Grace cross country skiing in Kamas at the beginning of January. It was supposed to be a family event, but in the end I sent these two packin'. Adam said Grace took to x-country skiing 'like a fish to water'. I couldn't be more proud as this is one of my ultimately favorite things to do- having a kid like it is the frosting on the cake! or cupcake according to Grace.
Adam forgot the camera to capture the 'first moments' so we snagged these when she got home. . . . The backyard isn't the Great Outdoors, but it worked for some documentation.

I got a denim jacket for my birthday from Great Grandma Connie, so Grace had to sport hers so we could be twins one day.
We had a BIG surprise one morning at breakfast.
Grace lost her first tooth!
Adam and I didn't even know she had a loose tooth, and while nibbling the frosting off of her mini wheats, a tiny tooth popped out.
Grace's reaction: I'm so happy I could cry!
It was awesome and crazy at the same time.
We had our first visit from the tooth fairy and it all went well.
Mas is now convinced he has a loose tooth too.
Adam and I weren't sure what to do or think, but it all worked out.
I'm sure we have many more of these to come.

Grace's cooking show with sidekick Max.

Catching up with some good friends- and of course and ice cream cone at the McDonald's playland.
A few new things for Grace to start off 2011:
*She is in CTR 6 this year for church.
Boy did she love that new green CTR ring from her teachers.
*Grace and Max had their first sleepover at Grandma J & Grandpa's house-
it went well.
*Grace is still loving babies.
Last week she used her whole body to shade Baby Maddie from some sun coming in through the blinds. That is love, wish I had the picture, it was hilarious.
We love Grace. She sure brings lots of excitement to our lives.
