Alan and I are tired. Always tired.
Sleep was never something that Madison struggled with. Since she was about 2 months old she's slept completely through the night. She loved naps. We were so spoiled when it came to sleep with her.
Kennedie is an awful sleeper!!!! I have no idea what to do with her. She has a hard time falling to sleep. She wakes up more than once in the night still. Many times she is wide awake and wants to get up and play. I've tried to get her up and just cuddle her back to sleep, but she always wiggles away and ends up playing, which is not something I think she should do at 3:00 in the morning. She is a light sleeper. If an alarm is too loud she wakes up. If someone opens the front door, she is up. She nearly always is awake by 7:00 or 7:30 no matter what time I put her down.
I've tried just letting her cry it out in the night and that used to work. For the past couple of nights though she just keeps crying. My rule is to let her cry for 20 minutes and if she's still crying I'll go in and give her bottle back and let her know I'm still there and then leave...and then if she keeps crying the time resets and I'll go back in 20 minutes later. Last night she was up for over 2 hours crying for me to come in and get her. She wanted me to get her up, but I was not going to do it because she doesn't need to get up and play at 3:00 in the morning. She is so stubborn. I have no idea what to do with her. Has anyone else had a child this old that won't sleep? What do I do? Any advice is welcome PLEASE!

This probably sounds like a really lame comment, but do you run a humidifier or fan in her room? I'm not talking a ceiling fan, like a box fan type of thing. My kids sleep amazingly and I attribute it yes to sleeping habits, and also to the fact that they have noise.
I have known people who have started to put noise in their kids rooms and it's helped them sleep. It will also muffle the noises she is waking up to.
According to Babywise, yes I read that book and used every ounce of information in it, you should let them cry for 40 minutes. That was talking about an infant however and I haven't read regarding toddlers. Something to think about.
Good luck!!!
We used to run a box fan in her room (it didn't do anything), but we don't anymore because her room gets sooo cold. I thought about getting one of those white noise machines for her. Maybe that would help now. Do you mind looking up for me in babywise how long they say to let a 14 month old cry? I wondered that too.
Pres never slept through the night really until a little after her first birthday!! She used to get up a ton in the night. Now she does pretty awesome and sleeps til730-830 am!...I bet after she's off her bottle she'll sleep through the night better. But who knows every babe is so different. Also, those humidifiers are awesome. I just barely had to use one a few weeks ago since she wasn't feeling good but she sleeps and naps so good with it because then every little noise isn't as loud...I never let pres cry it out though, only a total of maybe 10 min. haha, I couldn't do it...just do what you feel you should be. You know best as there momma.
Gosh, that's so hard! I'm only on my first one and it sounds like in your case its true when people say that not all your kids will be the same with things. My son has always loved his crib soother.
