Fusion Challenge - New Year!

Hi friends! I hope you're having a great day! Our holiday hiatus is over at Fusion Challenge and we're back with our first challenge of 2022. I've been pretty sick with covid.. still not 100% here, but more grateful than ever for all the little things. I missed the Christmas holiday with my family and new years too.. looking forward to better days when we can raise a glass and toast good health together. Soon I hope! For now I'm taking it one day at a time.

I hope you'll join me at Fusion Card Challenge. It's a great place to play and you'll love this challenge because there are three ways to play.. you can play along with the sketch, be inspired by the photo, or FUSE them together and play with BOTH!

I'm always first drawn to the inspiration photo. This time I spy a gorgeous gold bokeh background with a champagne flute taking center stage. I tried lots of different bokeh stamping techniques and just ran out of time before I could find something that looked good to me. Maybe you're an old pro at this technique? Or Maybe the photo isn't inspiring you either? That's ok.. you can still play along with the sketch. If you're really feeling clever you can fuse them both together.

For the bokeh dots I turned to a pack of multi size gold sequins and poured them into an Infinity Shaker Cover. I hope the different sized sequins give the same illusion on the black background.

Yep that's a whole lot of gold shakin goin on! I topped the assembled panel with a Creative Expressions Champagne Edger die. This big die makes cardmaking a snap because it takes up the entire card.

I love that you can see all the gold on the inside all the way to the cards edges and it lays pretty flat compared to a traditional shaker.

January Countdown to Confetti Day 1 Love Bugs, Valentine Sentiments, Big Heart Sentiments

Love is in the air and there's a new Reverse Confetti release just around the corner! I hope you'll join me today - January 4 - January 8 as I join the Confetti crew and share
sneak peeks of new products every day! There's lots to see and you won't want to miss a thing!

Today we're showing peeks of Love Bugs, Valentine Sentiments and Big Heart Sentiments. All the projects will be available for purchase on January 8 when we'll celebrate with a blog hop with more ideas and projects made with the new release.

  

My first card is made with the Love Bugs stamp set. There are lots of cute little insects in this set - I couldn't fit them all on my card - there's also a pretty butterfly I didn't use.

The images are great for cards or how about gift tags for school treats? I think they'll be cute to use all year round because I think we all have a little love bug in our lives.

The background is a Stitched Scallops cover panel inked with five shades of distress ink in ombre reds/pinks and green.

My second card starts with the new Postal Cover Panel die cut. I masked off the outer edges of the stamp stitched die cut and stamped Big Heart Sentiments in Pink, Purple and Orange inside the panel.

I cut strips of cardstock from the same colors and layered the Postal cover Panel over it.

Die cut hearts are added to the center of the stamped panel. I cut the new Layered Lots of Love twice from white cardstock. One of the die cut sentiments is inked with the same inks as the background stamping and then layered on a second white die cut at a slight offset so that the words are easier to read.

The Layered Lots of Love die is a double die cut set - I did not use the outline background on this card - I use it again later this week so you can get a better look.

A few gems adds a little shine and a bit of color!

Simple Stories Happy Hearts

Hi Friends! Today I’m so excited to share eight greeting cards made with the Simple Stories Happy Hearts Collection. Everyone needs a little love and what better day is there to remind your special people how much they mean to you than Valentine’s Day?

I adore this gorgeous collection! It’s got bold stripes, dots, and gorgeous florals in pink, coral, aqua and NAVY! The navy adds a fresh look to the color scheme for the right amount of flair!

This collection has everything! You’ll find images in the collection suitable for your “madly truly deeply” love as well as your gal-entine office buddy or family members. Valentine’s day doesn’t have to be gushy and this collection is just the right amount of sweet.

Simple Stories takes all the work out of making with pre printed, die cut images that are perfectly matched to color coordinate with their papers and ready for you to arrange.

I like to open the bits and pieces, pop out the chipboard images and sort them. All the florals go in one pile, sentiments in another, hearts in a third pile etc. This give me an opportunity to see all of the images to take a good inventory of what’s there.

I love to use the journal bits and pieces, elements sheet and tags to create layers to embellish. Because most of them are solid colors (not prints) they help draw your eye to your focal point.

The only thing I added of my own to these cards are the card bases and adhesives. I topped the white cardstock card bases with a piece of coordinating Color Vibe card stock that is also suitable – and a perfect weight – for card bases. Color Vibe cardstock is also a perfect “go to” for adding some solids to your designs to help accent and break up the prints.

Once you have your layout in place it’s time to frost them with some eye candy!! Washi adds another layer of interest – I like to add it along the top or bottom over seams where pattern paper meets. This collection also has decorative brad stickers and enamel dots. YUM!

I’m so excited about how cute these all turned out that I can’t wait to get them in the mail! You’ll be amazed at how quick your cards together – and you’ll still have plenty left over for making tags for treats too!
