Sketched Aster

YAYY! It's officially the weekend! I hope you're enjoying your day! It's hot and humid here so I just took a short walk with Miss Moriko. Time to rest and cool down!

Today I'm playing along at the Tic Tac Toe Challenge where all you need to do is get three in a row to play. I sort of feel I could apply this card to any direction because the flowers are covered and I used lots of the other elements.

This card starts with a Sweet Plaid texture background topped with an Inside/Outside Scalloped Circle. This circle is so clever because you can use just the inside or outside ring with the center ring. I used both and took advantage of that center circle ring to add more color to my design.

The Aster flower in the center of the design is from Waffle Flower Crafts. It's easy to color with your favorite media or you can stencil in the colors like I did using Distress Ink colors.

The sentiment on the design is included in the Aster flower stamp set. And the finishing touch is a sprinkle of glossy enamel dots.

Waffle Flower June Release Day 3

Welcome to day 3 of sneak peeks for the Waffle Flower June Release! Today we're sharing the Oversized Postage stamp set with Matching die by JJ Bolton!

I love these great big postage stamps that will be perfect for making any design a focal point!

I have been itching to try Lindy's Magicals powders and finally got my hands on some. I used one of the watercolor panels I created for the background for my Sketched Marigold.

To add the postage stamp sentiments I inked them with Staz on black ink over clear acrylic plastic to layer over the flowers.

I couldn't add tape to the back of the plastic so I adhered a stitched frame along the outer edge and then adhered it over the panel. A subsentiments sentiment is added inside the postage cancelation stamp.

Waffle Flower June Release Day 1

Its a great day for a visit because today begins the sneak peeks of the Waffle Flower June release that we're calling Flower Frames. The series is based on original artwork by Susan Bates that you might recognize from her cross stitch patterns.

These are the Sketched Asters that you can ink with the coordinating stencil set or color with your favorite media. I think they look amazing in every shade combination I tried.

I wanted this to be bright and sunny like the flowers in my garden. My background is a Quilt Circles die cut panel in shades of yellow.

I stamped the flowers with Versafine Onyx Black ink and then added the stencil coloring with Distress Inks in three shades of each color. I used the Waffle Flower blending brushes - they're available in different sizes you can choose the size you like best for the job.

The flower sets come with sentiments too. I cut mine using the subsentiments die that's perfect for this size font. I always have that die handy because it's perfect for most sentiments from any brand.

Thinking of You

Summertime always gets me thinking of camping trips and time spent outdoors. Today I'm playing along at My Time To Craft Challenge where the theme is CAMPING!

To me the best part about camping is time to unplug, but maybe better yet would be the views! Living in the Midwest, a trip to the smokies is always a great option!

My card was made with the Waffle Flower Forest Window die set. It includes the frame as well as the mountains and hills you see on my design. The only things I added were the layered circles for the sunrise/sunset, and the sentiment.

I cut extra leaves in colorful cardstock and scattered them along the branches on the outside frame to add more color and depth to the design.

All those colorful layers are stunning together and the design is surprisingly flat!

Sunkissed Florals

Have you seen the new Pretty Little Studio Sunkissed Collection? It's got lots of spring images and bright colors, but when you take a closer look you'll discover gorgeous florals that look garden fresh!

I used a frame to create a focal point for the flowers. A scallop die cut border is added along the right edge and a clear stitched sticker helps ground the images.

Spellbinders June 2023 Quick and Easy Card Kit

Have you tried one of the Spellbinders club kits yet? It doesn't get easier than this! You receive a box of coordinated supplies delivered direct to you and ready to work with. Here's a peek a this month's Quick and Easy Card kit.

With the new year comes a few changes to the kit. You might notice the price is about $10 less than last year. That's because the die kit and stamp set that were included in the past will no longer be in the kit. I think this is a good idea because honestly I never really used the stamps because there are so many sentiments in the kit. I will miss the die but for the savings it seems like a good trade off.

This month's kit focus is on spending time outdoors with lots of garden/gardening floral images. You'll find flower pots, flower carts, trellis, sunshine and rainbows to celebrate this time of year. The colors are primarily pastels. The papers and different elements do have some gold foil accents too.

I love that the kit includes EVERYTHING you need to make these cards including the card bases, solid cardstock, patterned paper, die cut printed images and stickers as well as double sided tape and foam adhesive squares. There's even a pack of embellishments to add a little sparkle to your designs.

I used different papers to look like table cloths or green grass fields depending on the subject matter so my cards have lots of patterns mixed together.

I love the little birds and butterflies in the kit too! There are plenty of sentiments too for different occasions to choose from as well as some chipboard frames if you'd like to add some shakers to your designs.

It looks like it's going to be a beautiful day right? These scenes are sweet enough to come from your favorite storybook!
