En Route

I soon realized that no journey carries one far unless,
as it extends into the world around us,
it goes an equal distance into the world within.

everything is extraordinary.

I woke up to a most beautiful morning~
my soul was singing in the sunshine
and beauty of the day.
after several days of cold rain.

So begins my Sunrise Series of photos that I
happily captured today.

Being Green

It's not that easy being green;
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves.
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold...
or something much more colorful like that.

It's not easy being green.
It seems you blend in with so many other ord'nary things.
And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're
not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water
or stars in the sky.

But green's the color of Spring.
And green can be cool and friendly-like.
And green can be big like an ocean, or important like a mountain,
or tall like a tree.

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why?
Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful!
And I think it's what I want to be.

~Kermit the Frog

Have a great green day!

Magical

Hello friends.

I didn't intend on being gone so long.

I'm not quite sure what happened there.

I guess it's hard for me to share when times are dreary.

But today is beautiful....

the weather is lovely~
and
I worked out in my gardens today.

I got six little beds cleared out.

I am trying to get a head start this spring~
last year my gardens were neglected pitifully.
I'm sure I will be paying for that in weeds.

To show you how neglected they were~
I found six hidden Easter eggs today.
{from LAST year's egg hunt}

The candy was not edible.
In case you were wondering.
:)

Looking forward to catching up with you.

Hope your weather is warming as well.

I couldn't help it....had to post another photo of buds.
They hold such promise.
Love them.

Preparing

The flowers of late winter and early spring
occupy places in our hearts well out of proportion
to their size.
~Gertrude Wister

This is what I am going to call a happy accident~

it is sooc~
no editing
no textures

I am not savvy enough to know how it happened
but I was very pleased when I came in and viewed what was captured.
Where did those ghostly diamonds come from?

Photography just amazes me.
Pure and simple.
{well....maybe not so simple}

I'm going to pretend that it happened by magic.
Don't try to convince me otherwise because today
it feels like magic could be possible.

These buds are from my beautiful dogwood out in the front lawn.

It was 76 degrees yesterday.

Probably a record breaker.

And it definitely stirred my spring fever to an all time high.

I liked thinking about this quote....
there always seems to be an inward struggle to be unique and different

Berries in Frost

I woke up this morning to a magical world where everything seems to be covered in diamonds.

The sun isn't out today but when it does peek out~
it will be heavenly.

Thank you for all your lovely words and encouragement on the last post.
Shauna was able to come home for Christmas and we have had some
wonderful days together.

A Very Jolly Soul

I wish we could put up some of the Christmas spirit in jars
and open a jar of it every month.
~Harlan Miller

We had our first dusting of snow this past weekend.
My girls bundled up and scooped up little bits of it in their sand buckets.

This is one of the magical men that came out of one of the buckets.

Isn't he happy?
I keep expecting him to start dancing around.

I have so many good memories of making snow sculptures with my family
when I was young.

I never liked the cold~
in fact sometimes I would watch from the window....
even when I was a bitty girl
as my parents played in the snow.

But there were times that I got out there myself.

We had some of the most amazing snow creatures ever.
Frogs....Forts....Dragons....

Good Memories.

3 little acorns

Mosies

Every day may not be good
But there's something good in every day.

Like this milkweed pod~

They take over the garden and
spread their little unwanted seeds everywhere

But they are so fun to open up and throw into the wind.

Shauna used to call these seeds "Mosies" when she was a baby.
And once she said it~ it was true.

Standing Tall

When it is dark enough,
you can see the stars.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I had a difficult time interpreting my feelings on this photo.

I see strength in this tree.

I also see sorrow as it is quieting for the winter.

I see the storms of life surrounding it.

But I also see other trees near it.
Trees in the same situation.

Other trees standing tall.

I am this tree.

Me.

The Prince

You know when you have found your prince
because you not only have a smile on your face

but in your heart as well.

It will be many years before she finds her true prince....
which is alright with me.
A toad will do just fine for now.

Toads and frogs always make us smile.
