Alhamdulillah
It is now time to say good bye to Proton.
It has been ups and downs.
Been working with Proton for more than 8 years now.
My first job, where i gain a lot of experience, since I was in my 23 years old. Now dah 32 years old. the number, so irony ;)
Dari bujang, anak dara, kanak-kanak riang, til now dah kawin and ada anak dua dah..
Tempat i found my jodoh.
Tempat belajar erti hidup.
Masa Proton launched Satria Neo til now Preve.
Lama jugak bila dikenang.
Anyway, let me refresh a bit in 2005. Just graduated from Purdue University, US, I got back home with passion to work. Applied Proton through the Jobstreet.com. I didnt realize it was for a trainee program until i went for interview. That interviewer siap tanya lagi, are you okay with the starting salary of RM1k? I was shocked, tapi buat-buat okay je.
Then bila dapat tahu i got the job, without any driving license and no skill of driving, pening kepala masa tu pikey cane nak pegi keje.
So kalut apply driving school. postpone masuk Proton right after raya. Blaja driving and test kereta masa bulan puasa, and within 2 weeks! memang kagum with myself la. dari penakut nak drive, dari tak tau ape2, terus tere.cewah! that's where when you terdesak, when uve got no choice, memang you can do it!
ok then i report duty on 15th November 2005. Masa tu datang straight to Proton's Main plant. HR. they briefed us a bit on proton, then they started assigning us to the department.
and to my surprised, i was the last one.
macam terkejut jugak, when instead of showing me where the department is, they gave me a map!
rupanya, tercampak dekat one of the department at Glenmarie! masa tu dengan tak tau jalan, baru 2nd time drive kot, terus kalut. map lukis tangan je tau! dah la hujan renyai2. can you imagine how!!
drive kancil manual hokay! tere tak i? hehe
then dah sampai at Proton Casting Plant, the only factory in Malaysia which manufactured engine from scratch!!
From raw material, besi buruk tu, melted dalam furnace up to 1400 degree Celcius, then tuang dalam mold, sampai keras jadi engine block. so dari tak kenal apa itu engine block, crankshaft, camshaft, brake disc, knuckles, bearing cap, terus kenal dan lebih mesra gitu! lol!
so bermula la episode bergelumang dengan kotor, panas, terik dalam kilang. but what i do remember most is the friendship that bonded over there. When i first report duty at Proton Casting, i was the only female engineer kat situ. so bayangkan how i face all those guys yg skeptical about woman and kilang panas.
but it was fun there. sangat-sangat seronok. mula-mula memang la blur kan. tak tau langsung about casting, foundry, but bila dah tau, memang fun. it was different from other place.
If i was bored or stress buat report, i boleh turun line and mingle with the people. memang baik hati. senang nak bekerjasama dengan casting people.
After 1 year sorang2 perempuan kat situ, then masuk 2 other female engineers. Saniah and Dayang. These two lah yang paling bermakna dalam hidup. and even until now i treasure the relationship.
Then after 6 years in Casting, it was time for me to berhijrah to another department. get a new environment.
It is the Technical Procurement Department.
Doing totally a new and different things. but i definitely enjoy the 2 years in GTP.
Then now it's time to say good bye.
Time for berhijrah ke dunia baru :)
I wish all my friends and colleague a very best of luck.
Til we meet again
xoxo,
Airin

Monday Blues? How to get over it?
Hola All!!
Today is Monday. Are you having Monday Blues today???
According to Forbes.com, from Alexander Kjrulf, an International author and speaker on happiness at work : The Monday Blues describes a set of negative emotions that many people get at the beginning of the workweek if they are not happy at work. It contains element of depression, tiredness, hopelessness and sense that work is unpleasant but unavoidable.
Tepat sekali with you?? You know the answer, right?
I'd like to share what Forbes.com list down on HOW to beat Monday Blues :
Today is Monday. Are you having Monday Blues today???
According to Forbes.com, from Alexander Kjrulf, an International author and speaker on happiness at work : The Monday Blues describes a set of negative emotions that many people get at the beginning of the workweek if they are not happy at work. It contains element of depression, tiredness, hopelessness and sense that work is unpleasant but unavoidable.
Tepat sekali with you?? You know the answer, right?
I'd like to share what Forbes.com list down on HOW to beat Monday Blues :
1.
Identify the problem. “The first thing to
do is to ask yourself what’s wrong,” Kjerulf says. If you have the Monday Blues
most weeks, then this is not something you should laugh off or just live with.
It’s a significant sign that you are unhappy at work and you need to fix it or
move on and find another job.
Sara Sutton Fell, CEO and founder
of FlexJobs, suggests
making a list of the things that are bringing you down in your job. “Maybe it’s
a negative co-worker or a meeting with your boss first thing on Monday morning,
or maybe it’s that you don’t feel challenged–or maybe it’s all of the above,”
she says. “In either case, clarifying what is bothering you can help you try to
be active in finding solutions. It’s a way of empowering you to take charge and
try to improve the situation.”
Kjerulf says if you only suffer the occasional bout
of mild Monday Blues, then you can do some things to successfully cheer
yourself and others up on an otherwise dreary Monday.
2.
Prepare for Monday on Friday. “Mondays
can be extra stressful from work that has potentially piled up from the
previous week and, for many, can be challenging to jump right back in,” Kahn
says.
To help combat that Monday morning anxiety, be sure
to leave yourself as few dreadful tasks as possible on Friday afternoon,
Friedman says. “By taking care of the things you least want to handle at the
end of one work week, you’re making the start of the next that much better.”
If you do have any unpleasant tasks awaiting your
attention Monday morning, get them done as early as possible so that you don’t
spend the rest of the day procrastinating or “feeling as if there’s a black
cloud hanging over your head,” she says. “Make that uncomfortable phone call,
resolve that outstanding issue, or clean up that mess that’s waiting for you.
You’ll feel a lot better once it’s over.”
You’ll also want to make sure your
calendar is up to date and synched, and you have a good view of and handle on
your upcoming work week–especially Monday, says Deborah Shane, a
career author, featured writer, speaker, and media and marketing consultant.
“What do you need to prepare for and get organized with? Get it done Friday, or
by Sunday, if possible.”
3.
Make a list of the things you’re excited about. “We
often look at the week ahead of us and think of all the tough stuff we have to
do and the difficult tasks ahead of us,” Kjerulf says. “Turn that around.
Sunday evening, make a list of three things you look forward to at work that
week. This might put you in a more positive mood. If you can’t think of three
things you look forward to, that might be an indication that you need to make
some changes.”
4.
Unplug for the weekend. If possible, try to avoid checking work e-mail or
voicemail over the weekend, especially if you’re not going to respond until
Monday anyway, Friedman says. “It can be tempting to know what’s waiting for
you, but drawing clearly defined boundaries between work and personal time can
help keep things in check. When you leave the office on Friday, leave your
office problems there and focus on enjoying your time off. Sometimes going back
to work on Monday feels especially frustrating because you let it creep into
your off-time, and so it never even feels like you had a weekend at all.”
5.
Get enough sleep and wake up early. Go
to bed a little early on Sunday night and be sure to get enough sleep so that
you wake up feeling well-rested, Friedman says. “If you’re only running on a
couple of hours of sleep, it’s unlikely that you’re going to feel good about
going anywhere when the alarm goes off Monday morning.”
Although it might seem counter-intuitive, waking up
an extra 15 to 30 minutes early on Monday morning can actually make going back
to the office easier. “Having a little more ‘me time’ instead of feeling like
you’re trapped in a time crunch can make that transition a little easier,” she
says. “Taking the time to enjoy a healthy breakfast, do some exercises, or take
the dog for a walk can help you feel more centered for the rest of the day, and
can help you remember that you’re not a robot who just sleeps and works.”
6.
Dress for success. “Dress up, perk up and show up ready to be positive
and help others be positive,” Shane says. “Be the light and energy that makes
others have a better day. Show and share your spirit, charisma and vibe and
make yourself magnetic.”
Kahn agrees. He suggests you use Monday as the day
to wear your favorite new outfit. This can help build your confidence
around the office and might get you a few complements from co-workers, he says.
Sutton Fell says when you look good, you feel good.
“Feeling good about yourself is half of the battle on Monday mornings, because
rather than being deflated by work you want to face it with confidence.”
7.
Be positive. Start the week out with an “attitude of gratitude,”
Kahn says. “Take time to recognize and appreciate the things that you enjoy
about work.”
This starts before you even get to work. To pump
yourself up on your way in to work, try listening to your favorite songs,
Friedman says. “Think about the type of playlist you would create for a
workout, and incorporate that same upbeat, high-energy music into your morning
preparation or commute.”
When you get to the office, do your best not to be
a complainer–and keep your Monday morning grumpiness to yourself, Friedman
adds. “In the same vein, don’t listen to other people’s Monday
gripes. Creating or contributing to a culture of complaining is no way to
improve your attitude.”
Shane says you must make a decision to turn
negative reluctance and dread into a “positive, productive and excited welcome
to Monday energy.” Start with Friday and make sure your desk is organized, and
your work to-do list is ready to go for the following week. “Take Sunday to
rest, review and reward, but plan for and get ready to leap into Monday.”
If you’re able to be a source of positivity in the
workplace, not only will you make your day more enjoyable, but you’ll also make
the work environment better for those around you, Kahn concludes.
8.
Make someone else happy. Make
a vow to do something nice for someone else as soon as you get to work on
Monday, Sutton Fell suggests. “Doing nice things for other people definitely
can lift the spirits, and in this case, it could actually help shift the overall
mood in your office,” she says. “Paying it forward can yield great results all
around.”
Kjerulf agrees. He says we know from research in
positive psychology that one of the best ways to cheer yourself up is to make
someone else happy. “You might compliment a co-worker, do something nice for a
customer, help out a stranger on the street or find some other way to make
someone else’s day a little better.”
9.
Keep your Monday schedule light. Knowing
that Mondays are traditionally busy days at the office, a good strategy is keep
you Monday schedule as clear as possible, Kahn says. “When you’re planning
meetings ahead, try to schedule them for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This will
help you to come into Monday with more ease from the weekend.”
Instead of tackling the biggest and most
complicated tasks early on Monday, take some time for easier, more routine
stuff, Kjerulf says. “This might get you up and running and give you the energy
for the hairier tasks.”
But beware: If you have too much free time—you’ll sit around “feeling blue,” Shane
says.
10.
Have fun at work. Take it upon yourself
to do things that you enjoy in the office on Monday, Kahn says. “Maybe bring
donuts for your colleagues or take a quick break to catch up with friend in the
office. Sharing stories about the weekend with co-workers can be fun and also
is a great way to strengthen your interoffice network.”
Sutton Fell says to schedule a weekly Monday coffee
break or lunch with a friend. “Create an event that you will look forward to on
Mondays as a way to break up the day with some known positivity. At the
very least, it gives you a chance to take a deep breath, talk with a friend,
and regroup for the rest of the day.”
11.
Have a post-work plan. Your day shouldn’t just be about trudging
through Monday to get it over with, but about looking forward to something. “By
making Monday a special day where you get to go out with friends, make your
favorite dinner, or eat a bowl of popcorn and catch up on a TV show you
recorded, the day doesn’t have to be all about getting up to go into the
office,” Friedman says.

From Kuantan With Love!
Hi all!
I'm broadcasting from Kuantan ;)
We arrived last night, after approx 3-hour drive from Shah Alam (Thank God the traffic wasn't that bad - considering Friday's traffic to Karak highway). My beloved company booked a very nice room at Zenith Hotel (trust me, this is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed) as compared to previous visit at Vistana Hotel. yeah, surely you can't compare a 3-star, decent hotel with a 5-star hotel. It is definitely a very pleasant stay. We'll be checking out tomorrow, a 2-night stay at this hotel.
This hotel has 2 towers, attached in the middle is Sultan Ahmad Shah International Convention Centre (SASICC). During our stay, they are having house and lifestyle expo. We'll most likely visit it tonight. The hotel also completes with Spa, Yoga area, Kids Area (trust me, it is very nice playing area for kids), swimming pool (it's an endless pool), pool table, gym, and lots more
Later that evening, we had our dinner at East Coast Mall Kuantan , a big mall, right in front of the hotel. We just walked crossed the road :) How convenient!
This morning, I have to attend the Youth of Pekan 2012, as Proton is one of major sponsor for the carnival. Our beloved Prime Minister came for the event. Most of youngsters at Pekan and Dun in Pahang attended this event. I did my job, checking out the food for those 7000 people plus the VIPs and VVIPs food; looking out for the banners, backdrops and bunting, also the canopy. Luckily everything is ok.
We even ended up register ourselves at the Tabung Haji booth. Finally, we made the account, and will register for the Haj by the time we get to Shah Alam. (funny kan, dapat bukak akaun Tabung Haji all the way at Pekan. mcm la shah alam xde tabung haji..hehe) They said the Queue now reached to year 2049!! InsyaAllah, if we get the invitation from Allah, we'll be there. amin!
After we went back from Pekan, these kids plus their Abah dozed off to sleep..giving me ample time to update my blog, using super fast internet connnection in the hotel's room. This trip, unofficially, considered as one of our family trip :)
Ok, I'm going to prep myself+ the kids for our dinner at Tanjung Lumpur with my bestfriend, Amy, who stays at Kuantan. Oh, can't wait to eat sotong goreng tepung...yummy!!!
Notes : I'm looking forward for our official Family Trip to Jakarta and Bandung next week..eiii..sungguh tak sabar, okay!

The Kids, and Youth of Pekan 2012 Carnival
Hello all!
Salam Jumaat :)
Last night was a sleepless night. First bcoz Lissa was coughing so badly, i felt so bad for her. Second bcoz Hanie's temperature suddenly shoot up. I woke up at 4 am and went down to get the panadol syrup for her. Alhamdulillah, by this morning, her temperature not that high.. i believe most likely bcoz her teeth are coming out. She sometimes drooled and tends to bite me, or anyone near her..funny!
And this morning, these two kids showed me two poses, which i cant resists! i snapped their picture in awe!
They complete me!
And that's why, when my boss told me that I need to go off to Pekan (again!) this weekend, I immediately said, yes and of course i'll bring along the whole family. Luckily, he wasnt like my previous stuck-up boss, he said," i'm okay with it. we'll prepare a room for your family". Oh, i'm so lucky!!
So, today my boss asked me to go after Jumaat pray. I dont have to be stucked in the traffic if I travel after work. So understanding. I think the reason he is so understanding is because he has a working wife, whom also fully breastfed their baby - same age as Hanie - and not like my prev boss, whom his wife is a housewife, who doesnt know how to drive, who basically a very ultimate housewives (you know, stay-at-home mom, does all the cooking, housechores, typical housewives; where the husband sat in front of tv, reading newspaper while the wife kelam kabut and all to ensure the dinner is ready, the house is clean, the kids are all wangi..). There you go, this big difference really determine how you treat your female subordinates, correct?
I'll be staying at Zenith Hotel, Kuantan til sunday. I have to ensure everything is okay and run smoothly since Proton is one of major sponsor, and tomorrow our PM will come for the event. It is called Youth of Pekan 2012. If you'll be somewhere around Kuantan or Pekan, come visit this carnival. They are offering some lucky draw up to RM80,000 value (including a Proton!) See you there!

Young or Look Young?
Being someone new in a new department will get a lot of attention. People want to know where you come from (im a human okay, not from Mars), where were you before, when u graduated, how many kids you have etc...
That, i got from my group. Not from other department.
Here are some scenarios i got from people from other department :
Scenario 1
At Surau, during lunch time, waiting for Zohor. I was with a friend of mine.
Kakak a : Awak budak baru ke?
Me : Aah, kak. saya baru transfer department
Kakak a : Oh, ingtkan baru masuk Proton
Me : Tak lah kak, dah dekat 7 thn dah dgn proton
Kakak a : ooo, lama dahla.
Me : hehehe.. baru kat dept ni la kak. dah lama dgn proton
Kakak a : dah kawin ke?
Me : Dah kak.
My friend : Dah anak dua kak oi!
Kakak a : MasyaAllah. mati2 akak ingat bujang lagi
Scenario 2
I was heading to a restroom, approached by a guy, aged somewhere around forties.
Man 1 : Adik, kejap kejap..
Me : Ye? (blur jap)
Man 1 : Kalau adik ke kawan2 adik nak beli kereta, adik order dgn abang tau. mana tau, kawan2 adik yg baru grad tu.abang ade lesen utk jual kereta
Me : hah? baru grad?
Man 1 : Adik baru masuk kan?baru grad kan?
Me : Tak la, saya dah lama dgn Proton. dah 7 tahun. kawan2 pun dah lama grad.
Man 1 : Oh, tak kisah la. adik bagitau je kalau ade sape2 nak beli kereta. (cover line la plak sbb termalu dah..haha) ada komisen.jgn risau
Scenario 3
At Surau, during Zohor praying time. I went inside along with some practical students. a few of them. This kakak already in the surau, saying hello to these practical students.
Kakak 1 : Ramai nye korang student practical ye. Awak attached kat group mana? (while asking to Student 1)
Student 1 : Department PPC, kak
Kakak 1 : Awak? (asking Student 2)
Student 2 : Engineering.
Kakak 1 : Oh, awak...? (a moment of silence...)
( i looked back to Kakak 1, i realized she was talking to me!)
Me : Oh, sorry kak. tak perasan.
Kakak 1 : Awak kat mana?
Me : Saya GP, kak.
Kakak a : Dia bukan budak practical lah. Dia exec transfer masuk GP. (she knows me from Scenario 1, the other day)
Kakak 1 : La.. ye ke? akak ingat awak practical.. (while showing confused face, especially when i started pumping) Awak bukan baru grad ke?
Me : Eh, tak lah kak. dah lama dah. 7 thn lepas dah, kak.
Kakak 1 : Eh, tak nampak plak awak mcm mak orang. hahaha
Me : ***blushing okay!
Kakak 1 : Umur berapa?
Me : Dah thirty dah kak :(
Kakak 1 : Laaaa ye ke? macam 23 je...hehehe.. body maintain ye! (yes, because i wear Premium Beautiful!)
Conclusion? Me, young? nope. Look young? maybe ..hehehehe
People said when you are happy, you'll look 10 years younger. if thats so, i will look like a 20 years old girl! yeay!! to be happy, you need to clear off your mind, have satisfaction with your job, with your salary and not to worry much about anything. Right now, i'm at peace at work, have freedom to spend off with extra money, have a happy family. Alhamdulillah.. God has guided me through this way. To make a change took a courage out of me. What have i made?
1. To change department
After reporting too long to one boss whom has taken advantages over me, 6 and a half years made me decide to change to a new department. Now, i very lucky to have a supportive boss whom taken me as his orang kuat.
2. To start a part-time business
I know that I need to have extra money apart from my daily fixed job. I studied for 3-4 months to choose what should i do. Finally, i made up my mind to start Premium Beautiful Business. I have extra money (extra means a lot!), i have opportunity to get Free oversea trip three times per year, i have chance to get car fund monthly (oh, i need to change my Kancil), i have met a lot of friends, i can do it at my own time..online biz, very easy, i have the freedom of time.. insyaAllah, i will be succeed in both work and business and also happy with family...
Note : Anyone of you wants to know how, please give me a call 017-6511966 or email at airindiana@gmail.com or pm at FB Airin Diana.

Travel for a working and breastfeeding mom
Hello mommies!
I have been so busy lately since i transfered to new department. Definitely it is a totally different from what I did previously. Before i used to deal with a lot of technical stuff, engineering and material methodology, which i did enjoy myself. The main reason i request for a transfer to another department is bcoz i need to upgrade myself..more prospect career development..plus more kachingg! Now, what i do is more towards non technical..no engineering background needed.. towards IT, software items. and more fun is i also deal with events. yeah yeah.. totally not what i studied, not what i used to practice..but i hope it is better in terms of career development :)
My first assignment last week was to attend a meeting about Youth of Pekan 2012 with a District Office of Pekan on Friday morning. I went there with my boss (the new one, of course) and my subordinate. Since my ebm stock were super duper red alarming, meaning almost reaches zero bottles, i arranged for my baby, Hanie to come along. I brought along my sister, who coincidently was on a semester break last 2 weeks. And i have to left Lissa with her Abah because she has the first school trip on Friday to KL Bird Park. I drove to Kuantan, brought along my sis and Hanie. Luckily my boss was okay with me bringing along the whole "askar"..He also has a son same age with Hanie. So he did understand when his wife needs to travel.
We stayed at Vistana Hotel, Kuantan for one night. The hotel looks nice, but the facilities werent at that 4 stars rate. They didnt have mineral/drinking water in the room. The TV didnt has most of entertaining channels. Also, since the hotel was fully booked, they only got me a twin bed room, which was quite small. We ended up asking for extra bed since we stayed for 3 adults.
Anyway, what i want to write is actually tips for a working mom who still breasfeeding her baby to be able to be ready anytime the work permits us to travel..and of course, without our baby :
1. The main thing is : Our EBM stock. is it enough?
2. The capable babysitter or people who wants to take care of our baby especially at night. Not someone who slept throughout the night without realizing the baby was screaming out her lung!
3. The Itinerary : Make sure our spouse or babysitter get the copy of our itinerary so that they know where we are in case of anything.
4. Trust your spouse or babysitter : We dont need to give a call every 5 minutes to check whats going on, okay. Schedule the call some time in the afternoon and maybe after dinner to check on them.
5. Always discipline with our pumping schedule to ensure our supply of milk doesnt depleted. Remember that supply = demands. more demand, more supply ;)
6. If you are away from country, always check with country's regulation for airport when we want to transport our ebm.
7. Stay focused during our working time. We cant be doing our job right if we keep on thinking of our baby at home.
8. Most importantly after we went back, set one time to be with our loved ones, including my hubby ;) (so that next time, he'll be okay we went away..)
By the way, reminder for me, to ensure stock for ebm reaches at least 3 days.. a new target for me.. yeah, working day and night to achieve this. wish me luck!!

First Day of Work
Today is my first day at my new office. Still at Proton, but i requested to be transfered to another department to pursue a career dev opportuniy. I am not going to stay at the same department since i cant see any career development, especially for a female engineer like me. Why i said that? because i was the only female engineer left in that dept. And most of the bosses, especially the new boss, has his "own opinion" towards female engineer. So i rather left before my motivation to work drop to zero..which almost did. I even has a thought to resign and be a full time mom.. macam best je..kalau kaya takpela.. cari side income dulu through Premium Beautiful. senang aje ;)
I will tell what i went through in this new working environment in the other entry ;)
I'll try to upload some comparison my old desk vs new one.. u'll definitely notice the difference!
