    roadtripping with the lees

i can't wait for lydia's arrival. she's been behind all the best times i've had in perth. i didn't think i'd enjoy road trips to this extent. but she sure proved me wrong.

and now, i'm all set to take in multiple doses of lee-dom. for those who have no idea what's goin' on, lydia and her entire family are comin' to perth for a week of fun, laughter, peace and joy.

and why should i bother so much, u ask? because of their selfless nature. u see, the lees could choose to go anywhere in the world, but were wonderful enough to choose perth for no other reason but cos i'm here. so i'm gonna go outta my way to make sure they have a fantastic time down under, cos they truly deserve it, and cos i love them. i really do.

the first (and my favourite) lee arrives this sunday. can't wait!

    april's full

wow it's been a while eh? so much has happened that has brought peace and joy to my heart that the events can't quite be fully expressed in words. nonetheless i'll give it a go.

    1) i'm now in the final phase of my trainin'. i expect to be done sometime in june, after which i'll earn the wings which i've been so eagerly anticipatin' and which will put into motion a blessed future ahead. excitin' days await, God bless!

    2) my parents decided to hit me with a surprise visit in early april, which i somewhat welcomed, cos after all, it was a nice gesture. what made the week even sweeter was that on the spur of the moment, the lady decided to join me as well! shiokness! what ensued was a relaxin' one week that can simply be described as aidylnegoy's best perth trip yet. if this's any indication of the trip in may when lydia and the entire lee family is headin' over, boy i sure can't wait!

    3) amongst other things, the love of my life, miss lydia lee su mei, turned a cool 24 on 16th april 2010. since this was the first birthday i was spendin' away from her, i decided to surprise her with warm wishes on all fronts, which she seems to have relished. nothin' makes my day more than to see this woman happy, so u can say i felt my efforts were well spent and appreciated. to u: may God bless all your endeavours. i love u.

i also set our future goin' with a little thing that i'll be doin' for the lady over some time. somethin' special only shared between us. i'll give u a clue that makes no sense to anyone but my soulmate and i: the number 16.

    watch this space.

    what faith can do

this is my song of the moment, from christian band kutless. these are the most meaningful words i've heard in a song for quite a while, and i dedicate these words to the lady. hope u enjoy the listen.

and always remember, what faith can do..

WHAT FAITH CAN DO (by Kutless)

    Everybody falls sometimes
Gotta find the strength to rise
From the ashes and make a new beginning
    Anyone can feel the ache
You think it's more than you can take
But you're stronger, stronger than you know
    Don't you give up now
The sun will soon be shining
    You gotta face the clouds
    To find the silver lining

I've seen dreams that move the mountains
    Hope that doesn't ever end
Even when the sky is falling
    I've seen miracles just happen
    Silent prayers get answered
    Broken hearts become brand new
    That's what faith can do

It doesn't matter what you've heard
    Impossible is not a word
It's just a reason for someone not to try
    Everybody's scared to death
When they decide to take that step
    Out on the water
    It'll be alright
    Life is so much more
Than what your eyes are seeing
    You will find your way
    If you keep believing

I've seen dreams that move the mountains
    Hope that doesn't ever end
Even when the sky is falling
    I've seen miracles just happen
    Silent prayers get answered
    Broken hearts become brand new
    That's what faith can do!

    Overcome the odds
    You don't have a chance
    (That's what faith can do!)
When the world says you can't
It'll tell you that you can!

I've seen dreams that move the mountains
    Hope that doesn't ever end
Even when the sky is falling
    I've seen miracles just happen
    Silent prayers get answered
    Broken hearts become brand new
    That's what faith can do
    That's what faith can do!

    Even if you fall sometimes
You will have the strength to rise

    this goes out to you

there are many ways to describe how much you mean to me, how God-sent you are, or the depth of our feelings for one another. but sometimes, simplicity is the way to go, and brings the point across best.

lydia, i love you, and i always will. thank you for bein' you.

for those who have to constantly visit the loo, even in mid-air, help is at hand. there might finally be an airline which can handle their "issues", no matter how large.

2010, a year of great promise

wow, it's been exactly one month since my last entry eh? that's not gonna stop me from diligently updatin' this space for the rest of my life, cos if no one reads it, at the very least my lydia lee does, and that's all i need. so, so, so much has happened in this short period. let me get u up to speed with my life over the past month:

    1) i had a wonderful birthday, with surprise wishes and gifts from friends old and new, and loved ones who i know will always be there. thank u, one and all.

    2) the love of my life came over to perth to spend christmas and new year's with me. a week that i can only describe as extraordinary. u know, i've always loved the trips that the lady and i embark on, but this one was particularly enchantin', and left us missin' our time together weeks afterwards! we can both seriously see ourselves settlin' down in perth when we're older. we'll see how it goes. for now, the beautiful memories remain.

    3) i've officially cleared phase 1 of my training, and it ended on a good note. in fact, i took my phase 1 test flight while the lady was in perth, and that made it that much sweeter (trust God to arrange these 'coincidences'). i'm on to phase 2 now, an excitin' phase that involves navigation. and i'm really enjoyin' myself. shiok!

    4) as it stands, i'm on track to come back by may as planned, with april bein' a slight possibility. will keep all of u posted on my progress as i move along. for now, peace out.

    and have a blessed 2010.

(thanks for the wonderful birthday gifts, the awe-inspirin' road trips and the fantastic shower of love, reindeer. u know me and my heart like no other. i love u, always will)

    colourful shades of life

i know it's been a while since my last entry, i've kinda been busy with trainin'. so i'll bring u guys up to speed fast.

trainin' has been great, i cleared a hurdle that i previously failed at 5 years ago with the airforce, and i've been blessed with good weather and progress, which means i've been generally flyin' ahead of most of my brothers. but i'm sure they'll get movin' fast soon too.

and speakin' of brothers, the word "brother" in itself might be somewhat of an understatement when it comes to my coursemates. on friday, i was presented with an early birthday gift from the heart. basically, the guys knew i was on the lookout for sunglasses to wear on my flights to protect my eyes. no prices for guessin' what they bought as a present then. yup, they got me my coolest pair of aviators ever. so now i can fly and be fly at the same time. haha.. thanks guys, i really love my new serengeti aviators!

and as for the major highlight of the moment, my baby lydia lee is due for a meet-up with me really really soon. as of now, it's 11 days to christmas eve, and i kinda can't wait to meet my reindeer. countdown fever is officially on!

    peace out.

    fly a-wei

yesterday, a good friend of mine celebrated her birthday. someone who can relate to the lady and i on so many levels. someone who's not afraid to stand up for the man she loves. someone who, with her guy, has been there for the lady and i, and served as a reminder of what we ourselves stand for. most importantly, someone who's a child of God in every way, and like the sister i never had.

    Photobucket

happy birthday xiaowei. it's been a real blessing knowing u and sanji. u guys have shared in lydia's surprise birthday, valentines' day, my departure to perth, basically everythin' in my life that matters. and i'm thankful for all of it.

may God touch your life in the way that only He can, and bring u to greatness.

    4 years 3 months 2 hearts 1 world

happy 4 years 3 months dear.

i love the significance of our celebration this time round. there was no overly fancy meal or a pre-arranged movie outing. no try-hard-to-be-seen clubbin' or shoutin' it out for the whole world to know. basically, nothin' staged or superficial.

you were back late from a full day of work, and i was stuck at the airport at 2am waitin' for some unimportant guest to arrive. both of us were halfway round the world from one another.

and yet, the joy and smiles we shared over the phone while wishin' each other were priceless. priceless. enough said.

here's to many many more years of God-sent joy. quite simply, aidylnegoy rocks.

    the dash poem

though i'm puttin' this poem up here mainly to surprise someone and make her day, i believe it's relevant to all of us. all too often, in bein' caught up with the rat race, money chase, or any other superficial pursuit in life, people tend to forget the things that truly matter. and this poem serves to remind us that when all is said and done, our life is only worth what we accumulate, not in terms of money or fame, but in terms of love and heart. thanks to the lady for introducin' me to this inspirational piece.

The Dash Poem by Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end.

He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke of the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

    So think about this long and hard;
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
    That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real
    And always try to understand
    The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger
    And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
    Like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile,
    Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So when your eulogy is being read
With your life's actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?
