Donut Bar Wedding Reception

Last weekend I had the opportunity to help with a family wedding reception and it was so fun to decorate with a donut bar.

This sign was made by a friend of the bride and it was so cute! Who doesn't need love and donuts?!

This was the sign in table.

Baby Shower Brunch

I got to help Abby with a baby shower for my niece and here are a few pictures from the brunch we provided.

A couple different options for the yogurt.

Lasagna

While searching the internet for a lasagna recipe, I found this one & let me tell you, it is so yummy!
The recipe title is "World's Best Lasagna" & I had some friends who tried it tell me that they thought it really was the world's best recipe.  Now, it's the best recipe I've found so far.  That is, besides my Italian husband's family recipe, but that recipe is non-sharable.  Sorry. :)

Summer Canning

I've been canning now for a few years.  Thanks to all my great friends for teaching me how now I can do it myself in my own home.  Here are a few pictures of what I canned this summer.

This was the first time I've ever canned peaches & they were a lot of work, but they are oh so good!!!
I will definitely be doing these again next year, but with some help.  These peaches are canned in a medium syrup & I'm sure that's what makes them extra yummy-sugar.  Click here for the peach canning instructions that I used.

Cupcake Bouquet Tutorial

A lady from work decided to pursue other career goals and I wanted to bring her cupcakes on her last day of work with us. I wanted a more personal and beautiful way of presenting them than just pretty cupcakes. So I decided to make a bouquet out of the cupcakes.

Fortunately, I had all the supplies I needed lying around my craft room. Which saved me a trip to the store. Yeah, no need to go shopping with a three year old. That just made my life a little bit easier. Now to bake the cupcakes and put it together without my son giving me too much trouble. Too bad it's not nap time. Time to multi-task.

Calzones with Roasted Tomato Marinara Sauce

This calzone recipe all started from this yummy Roasted Tomato Marinara Sauce I pinned on Pinterest.  My niece tried it out, told me how yummy it was & so I had to check it out.  She was right, it is soooo yummy!!

Tea Party Themed Birthday Party

My daughter turned 8 in June and she wanted a party with a tent.
This is what I came up with, plastic table cloths hung with tacks and fishing wire from our ceiling.

Each girl got her own place setting complete with her own picture frame to take home as a party favor.

Pirate Themed Birthday Party

I'm sure you've noticed changes to our blog.
The first change is the look of our blog.  We've redesigned it and hope it's more pleasing to the eye.
The second change is that we've added another sister to our blog. :)

Mashaide is the newest Creative Momma and today she's sharing a pirate themed birthday party she created for her son's 3rd birthday.  Check out our "About us" page to learn more about Mashaide. :)

Casual Romantic Themed Dessert Table

This past weekend our Brother got married and we had the opportunity to create a dessert table for the celebration.  The theme was Casual Romantic and this is what my sisters, Mashaide, Chelsea and I came up with.

Buttercream Cake Pops

I get to help with a wedding in December and the bride wants cake pops, so I thought I'd try my hand at experimenting with cake pops and buttercream ruffles.
The ruffles were a complete fail, but this is what I came up with by experimenting with other piping tips.

Neapolitan Cupcakes

I've been wanting to make cupcakes lately & haven't had a reason,
so today I just made some for no reason at all. :)

These are strawberry cupcakes with a layer of ganache & then topped with cream cheese frosting.

Maybe I've been watching too much of Cupcake Wars & that's what got me in the mood.
No matter the reason, I'm glad I made them.
After eating them, we decided to call them Neapolitan cupcakes because that's what they tasted like to us.  Enjoy!

Tuna Melt Sandwich

Open Face Tuna Melt Sandwich

This is my new favorite thing to eat & it's really easy to make.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Bagel
  • Tuna Fish (or you could substitute chicken salad)
  • Cheese
  • Sweet Relish (this is the relish I use & it ROCKS!!)
  • Tomatoes

I first toasted my bagel, then added the tuna fish & cheese & toasted it again.
Top with relish & tomatoes and you're done.
(It looks like I have tons of tomatoes because I used the tomatoes from my garden & they didn't get very big, but they're super yummy.)
Eat sandwich & be super happy about the yumminess :)

Chocolate Cookies

Soft & Chewy Chocolate Drops

A couple weeks ago I decided that it would be fun to try a new cookie recipe every week.
It just seemed that every time I made cookies, I would make chocolate chip cookies, so this gives me the opportunity to try all the many cookie recipes I have that I've never used.

I tore this recipe out of my Kraft's food magazine a long time ago because the picture looked so yummy.  I was right to keep this recipe & it did not disappoint.

Layered Pudding Cups

I had a party at my house tonight and I made these cute little desserts.

pudding, cool whip, dessert

They were super easy to make.
Just make pudding, layer with cool whip or whipped cream & top with whatever treat you like.
These are chocolate topped with heath bits & vanilla topped with white chocolate chips.
You can make them in whatever glasses you'd like.  I didn't have a lot of glasses, so I also used clear plastic disposable cups.

Happy partying :)

Easter Basket Cupcakes

This weekend I had family in town for Easter Sunday and I made some fun treats for our Easter luncheon.  This was another Pinterest inspired idea.

Not only were these cute, but they were yummy too!!

These were so fun to make, especially since I had help :)

Valentine Crafts & Treats

Last week we were contacted by parenting.com to be featured on their Valentine Crafts for Kids post & we were so excited to share the following post with them.

Go check out their site for some fun kid crafts for Valentines.

Since I've been in the midst of a difficult pregnancy I haven't been able to do much crafting this season, so I'm going to share the projects we did last year.
Lame I know, but it's the best I can do right now :)

Dinner Cook-Off Competition

This week we had a fun activity with the youth at our church.  It was a dinner cook-off competition.
Each class was in charge of coming up with a meal, cooking it and decorating the room for the meal.
One class of girls decided on a garden theme and this is what they came up with...

A garden arch with the food set up buffet style.

On the menu they decided on lemon pepper chicken, twice baked potatoes, rice balls, rolls, ceasar salad, lemon bars & cran-apple juice.
Each of the young women was in charge of a food item and they did a great job making it!

Marble Cupcakes

Saturday was my son's birthday so I decided to take treats to his classroom on Friday.
The problem was that I didn't remember until Friday afternoon, so I had to make something fast and easy.

Lucky for me, I have quite a few cake mixes in my pantry.
I wanted to make them look interesting, so I decided to go for a marbled look.

Mini Apple Pies

I saw the cutest mini pies on Pinterest & I knew I just had to make them.
My husband and I were invited to a Pie Night, so I thought that was the perfect opportunity to make these.

They were not that difficult to make, but the lattice did take some time.
I should have looked at my pin on Pinterest before I made these because then I wouldn't have tried to curl the edges.

Candy Christmas Trees

This is what we did tonight as a family.
Instead of our gingerbread houses, we decided to make candy Christmas trees.
