Best Friend Book Tag

We don't share our YouTube videos here very often, but last night I (finally) uploaded the Best Friend Book Tag that Chami and I did together and I thought it'd share it here! I hope you all enjoy it :)

March Wrap-Up: In Which Uni Takes Over

Can you guys believe that it's April already? March flew past incredibly quickly for me but I've got some exciting things to talk about!

BOOKS
I read a total of 21 books this month, one more than in February! I also got rid of sixty four TBR books, but more on that later. Unfortunately, a lot of these were three star books for me. Every Move and The Assassin's Blade took out the top spots by far.

CHALLENGES
These are all the challenges, both official and personal that I set myself this year. As you can see, there are a couple I'm doing really well at and then some others that aren't going as well.

TV/FILM
I had pretty much no time to watch to watch anything this month, but I did finally finish season three of Veronica Mars - very disappointed in the finale but I'm really looking forward to the movie. I also watched two pilots this month between classes one day - Younger and The Returned. Really enjoyed both of them.

WRITING
I haven't done any work on Tied Together this month, but I did do some other writing. I planned the first two books of a trilogy that I'm hoping to write for Camp NaNoWriMo. Also, as part of my creative writing unit, I've been writing some short stories that I'm actually really proud of.

VIDEOS
There were only three videos this month: My March TBR, and two unhauls (hence those 64 books). I've got quite a few ready to upload in April though!

ON THE BLOG
We had a really diverse set of posts this month. Firstly, early this month I talked about the Millicent Effect (and you guys were incredibly supportive and lovely)! I also reviewed a few books this month - Who Could That Be At This Hour?, Every Move and Foreign Soil. We posted our 500th post, which is incredibly uninteresting. Finally, I talked about my plans to read-through the Stella Prize and shared my thoughts on translations

OTHER THINGS
This is where we get down to the nitty gritty of the month! I finally started my second year of University after a six month break - and yes, I'm already tired. I also went to the Every Move launch party with Chami, Michelle, Miranda, Angel and Rou Min and it was glorious. I spent the weekend in the city with my dad and some family friends from out of state where I ate the incredibly amazing breakfast you can see below. Chami and I got to hang out this month, hence the beautiful, beautiful pictures.

How was your March?

500th post!

That's right, this post is our five hundredth (not including our million random drafts) on this blog. We just want to thank you all for your support and lovely comments, and we promise that we'll be more active in the next coming months!

Our Favourite Characters #HarryPotterBookNight

Today is a very magical day - it's Harry Potter Book Night! Before I go and start my reread of The Chamber of Secrets, we thought we'd share our top three favourite characters from the series each. And yes, we did...maybe...argue about this a little.

This was the easiest thing in the world for me. I didn't even have to think about my top three in the series.

1. Sirius Black (Art by viria13)
My ultimate bae, the love of my life, my first ever book boyfriend etc. etc. I've loved Sirius since the age of eight when the third movie came out - I saw it five times in cinemas because I loved him that much. I love how sassy he can be but also the depth he has because of his family history. I'm obsessed with him, and there is no character in the world who will ever reach his level.

2. Regulus Black (artist unknown)
Yes, I'm obsessed with the Black family. Regulus is just gah. Honestly, can you say that you don't admire him for what he did? I personally think he has a much more interesting redemption story than Snape (my second least favourite character, only rivaled by my hatred for Pettigrew but more on that later). I spend far too much time on his tumblr tagging, just sobbing quietly and rocking back and forth.

3. Remus Lupin (Art by anxiouspineapples)
Yes, I realise the series is about Harry's generation and not his parents but dnjfdkf REMUS FREAKIN' LUPIN. I loved Remus from the third movie (guess which one was my favourite, go on...guess!) and I just can't let him go. While Sirius and Regulus are more like 'I love you because you're beautiful. Please be mine.' I think I'm more like Remus, well I don't think - I know. I'm more of the quiet, bookish type and I'm not a werewolf (I know I had you all fooled!) but I do have a serious illness. I just get him.

OH! James Potter is a very close fourth for me. This is the thing Chami and I argue about. I love him with my whole heart and she thinks he's a 'big ass douche'. It's very hard to be friends with her sometimes.

Top 5 Shows We Need to Watch

From now on, we are dubbing Tuesday, Chely Day. What's Chely, you make ask. Well, it's Chami and Ely. Yes, every Tuesday you'll get the privilege of reading a post written by both of us (this has only happened a few times in ABookSoFathomless history.)

Today, we're talking Top 5 shows we need to watch.

1. Game Of Thrones
Absolutely everyone has told me to watch this. EVERYONE. But truly, I am a procrastinator at heart and that is the main reason why I haven't watched this yet. (I haven't watched this either... - Ely.)

2. How to Get Away With Murder.
Much like the previous show, everyone has been loving this apparently. I don't normally watch shows like this but I need to expand what I read in both reading and TV show watching. Also, I'm sure this will give me a few pointers on how to CONTROL THE WORLD. (OMG YES. WATCH THIS. EVERYBODY WATCH THIS. - E)

3. American Horror Story
I've actually watched season 1 of this show already. Well, not really.  I watched all the Tate and Violet scenes and fell in love them after watching a fan video of them on youtube. I should try the rest of the show, right? (I've watched one season of this...season 3. Those Tate and Violet scenes though. - E.)

4. Anime
I bet you are all thinking, "Ah Chami, Anime is not a TV show. It is just a general name for a group of animated cartoons." Ah, people, thank you, I understand. Truthfully, I want to start getting into different shows from different cultures. I started a few and I've got quite a few recommendations from my friends but if anyone else has any recommendations, please leave them down below!

5. HappyLand
This show has a beautiful boy. Beautiful boy has stolen my heart from other shows. Beautiful boy has an amazing voice. Shane Harper is beautiful boy.

1. Legend of Korra
I have a couple of friends who are absolutely obsessed with this show and they've been trying to get me to watch it for years now but I was never interested. I started Avatar yesterday, and I'm kind of already in love with it so I have high hopes for this. ( OH MY GOSH. I AM SO PROUD OF YOU. AVATAR IS LIFE [ I have yet to watch Legend of Korra though] - Chami)

2. Agent Carter
This has only just started up but I feel like I've been waiting for it forever. I'm sure a lot of you are aware of my love for everything Captain America so this probably comes as no surprise. ( WHY WHY WHY - Chami)

3. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D
Raise your hand if you really suck at keeping up to date with shows, even when you know you're going to love them.

4. Arrow
Techanically, I have started this one. I think I watched like two episodes when it first started out and then...well, I forgot about it. It has one of my favourite actors in it, so I don't know why I haven't watched it yet. (John Barrowman doesn't know either.)

5. Teen Wolf
*dodges the millions of things being thrown at me* ( Chami also raises her hand to this one. I've watched a season of this when it first came out and then I just gave up. *runs away*. - Chami)

UPDATE: We're Back

Hello everyone! As you may have noticed, I've slowly been returning to blogging since I went on a little break at the end of October. Before I get into this post, I just want to thank everyone who sent me tweets, comments and e-mails - it really, really meant a lot to me. Now, we've got some exciting news for you all!

Firstly, we're getting a new blog design from the wonderful Hazel of Stay Bookish. She's been so patient with us, and the design is amazing! We can't wait for you all to see it :)

Secondly, starting tomorrow, we're doing this thing called 'review week'. It's exactly what it sounds like - a week filled with nothing but book reviews. We've been kind of lacking with the book reviews lately, hence our decision to do this.

Thirdly, Chami is almost finished exams! In fact, her last exam is tomorrow. Do you know what this means? CHAMI WILL BE BACK!

Finally, (I think), we've created another wonderful themed week that'll be happening in two weeks time. What is the theme you, I hear you ask. Welllll, it's Shatter Me.

I think that's about it! I hope you're all having a marvellous week, and we'll see you next time! (because Chami will be back!!!! Can you guess I'm excited?)

UPDATE: A Break from Blogging

I'm sure most of you know by now that Chami is doing her final year of school. Her exams are about to start, so naturally she's not going to be active around here.

There will be a few of you who will already know this (and I couldn't have made it through this past week without you), but I lost my beautiful mum to cancer yesterday. As you can probably guess, I'm not really feeling up to blogging right now.

I don't know how long this break is going to be for, but I've been looking into get some people to do a few guest posts so that this blog isn't completely inactive so we'll see how that turns out. There are already a few posts scheduled, so I hope you enjoy them.

Thank you.

TAG: Get To Know Us

We were tagged by the absolutely lovely, Chiara of Books for a Delicate Eternity to do the 'Get to Know Me' tag so that's what we're doing today. And by 'we', I mean I'm answering the questions for both us while Chami is off studying...or something. Without further ado, let's go.

How tall are you?
We're both pretty short, though Chami is practically a dwarf. (She wears heels to distract me from this sometimes).

Do you have a hidden talent? If so, what?
Chami can actually sing and draw really well (though she will try and tell you otherwise). I, on the other hand, don't really have a 'hidden' talent though I will say, I'm quite a beast at making Stir-frys.

What's your biggest blog related pet peeve?
I have no idea about Chami (probably nothing), but I get annoyed at people who write really horrible reviews. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but some people can take it too far.

What's your biggest non blog related pet peeve?
Oh God, I'm so bad at answering these for Chami. The only thing I can think of is bitches- Chami does not like bitches. It's the same for me, but I also hate people who walk really, really slowly.

What's your favourite song?
Chami lives for Florence and the Machine and Daughter. I think mine is Daniel in the Den by Bastille, at the present time.

What's your favourite Etsy shop that isn't yours?
Neither of us have a shop, so that's not a problem but we also don't buy things off Etsy. It's kind of expensive to have things shipped out here usually and we don't have money for that.

What's your favourite way to spend your free time when you're alone?
Skyping each other, or sending each other pictures of goats. Oh, and you know, this little thing called READING.

What's your favourite junk food?
ALL THE FOOD. Literally, all the food.

Do you have a pet or pets? If so, what kind and what are their names?
I think Chami had fish at some point but I'm pretty sure she killed them (by accident, possibly). I have a budgie named Tweety and a dog (a Spoodle, a cross between a poodle and a cocker spaniel) named Tara (or Mara, as Chami calls her).

(Isn't she just gorgeous?)

What are your number one favourite nonfiction and fiction books?
Neither of us read nonfiction, but fiction-wise. Chami is, of course, the Shatter Me trilogy (Didn't see that one coming, did you?) and mine is the Throne of Glass series.

What's your favourite beauty product?
Chami loves her red lipstick, and I...don't ever wear make up.

When were you last embarrassed? What happened?
Since Chami is this super gorgeous, confident, glorious human being, I don't think she ever gets embarrassed ever. I'm sure mine was at something my dad said - he likes to embarrass me.

If you could only drink one beverage (besides water) for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Mine would be tea, no question about it. As for a specific type, either Earl Grey or Pomegranate. Chami has informed me that hers would be Lemon, Lime and Bitters or Chocolate Mountain Malt Milkshake from the Pancake Parlour...which I never would have guessed. #besties
What’s your favourite movie?
This changes all the time for me, but currently it's the first three Terminator films. My dad and I rewatch them every two months or so and they never get old. Also, we just watched the second one last night so it's still fresh in my brain. Chami's is Transformers and she warns you all not to judge her. We both picked action movies so you can tell we're badasses, right?

What were you in high school: Prom queen, nerd, cheerleader, jock, valedictorian, band geek, loner, artist?
We were both cheerleaders, obviously. I'm kidding, we don't exercise. I suppose we're both nerds.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
London, for both of us. We're going to live in a house there together filled with books.

PC or Mac?
A few months ago I would have said PC but my laptop is shit so Mac now, and Mac for Chami. She says Mac 4everbaby...Yeah, I don't know either.
Last romantic gesture from a boyfriend?
LOL.

Favourite celebrity?
SO MANY. If I just have to choose one, then I'm going to have to go with Benedict Cumberbatch - I'm sure I don't have to explain myself here. Chami's is Nick Bateman. I mean, who's the hotter one there really? Spoiler alert, it's Benedict.

What blogger do you secretly want to be best friends with?
I always wanted to be friends with Ebony, Chiara and Cait and now I think I am...so yay! Chami's answer for this was me. Isn't she sweet?
