Birthday Cakes

We survived our month of birthdays. We celebrated 5 between Feb. 6th and March 1st.  Ya, it'a a lot.  Unfortunately for my kids, I suck at making cakes. It's an on going joke at how bad my cakes turn out.  It's a good thing I can laugh at myself.  I have grand ideas, and I just can not for the life of me execute a good cake.  For example take this beauty below:

A Belle Cake for Grace.
The cake was not tall enough for the silly doll.
I had to sit her down and cover her up with frosting.
I was going for an umbre look and couldn't get that quite right either.
Grace loved it, and that's all that matters.
p.s. this cake took me all day to make.  I was exhausted.

And then there was Beckham's:

Beckham requested a Lego Party for his first ever party.
I was clever enough to purchase ding dong to make this
awesome purple lego.
But just couldn't quite get the frosting job right.

And for the grand finale:

This six layer stunner for Isabel and Annika's 11th Birthday.
It's lopsided.

The layers did turn out pretty cool though.

Smiling for the Camera
I'm all smiles since my stint as cake decorator is finally over.
Next year, I'm buying cakes.

What do you think?

I stumbled upon a tutorial several several months ago and today I finally got around to doing it. I have been wanting to update my kitchen stools. I really want to make my house a thing of beauty. I know I can do it for little cost and was so excited with how these stools turned out. What do you think?

Grace modeling what the stools looked like before.

Black and Brown did look pretty sharp when I first bought them.
They looked great in my then RED kitchen.

No Model
Just a sad looking, well worn stool.

This is my life.
Working with a four year old in my business every day all day long.
Don't be fooled though, I will love every minute of it until that time has passed.  And I'm sure it will pass far too quickly.

Ta-Da!!!!

Soooo, what do you think?
Do you like the Turquoise?  How about the awesome fabric I used?
I have to admit, I am obsessed(with a capital O) with
Turquoise, Orange and Lime Green.
In my mind, the colors of paradise.

What the stools look like in my kitchen
Beckham was pretty excited to be the
first one to use the new stools.
