My Hero

>> Sunday, February 22, 2009

Who knew that this thing could suck an entire sippy cup of milk out of a couch cushion? Or clean the living room carpet so that two days later Alex could have a clean slate on which to draw with sidewalk chalk?

Thank you, Bissell ProHeat 2X carpet cleaner!

Anyone want a Snickers bar?

>> Tuesday, August 19, 2008

We have not fallen off the face of the earth. Apparently, nobody was in any hurry to get us connected to the real world. We just got our TV and phone yesterday. And joy of joys...STILL NO INTERNET!

As the nice old man at Qwest put it"Darlin'...it's like there's 90 Snickers bars on the shelf at the store and 100 people want 'em. Your internet is a Snickers bar."

Uh...okay.

Qwest is out of DSL capacity in our area. So rather than wait for someone to move or not pay their bill, we're shopping for a new internet service provider.

Hopefully we'll be back online soon!

On a happier note...our house is fantastic and we're getting more settled every day.

Camping and Closing

>> Saturday, August 9, 2008

Yep.  That's what we've been doing over the last week and a half.  :o)

We spent five days in the Uinta Mountains with Kurt's family.  It's an annual tradition that we love and we were so grateful to be there this year. Despite the mosquitoes being a "BIT" rampant, we had a fantastic time!  We fished, hiked, played in the dirt, ate good food and relaxed.  We even managed to escape the rain!  I don't think that has ever happened before.  It must have been because we rented a tent trailer this year.  You know...the year we're all prepared to be snug and dry, we don't get rain.  It was so great though, we may never "tent it" again!

In other exciting news...

We FINALLY (banks just don't really get in a hurry, do they?) had the closing for our house on Friday. We moved our things in today.  Now the fun begins...unpacking!  Stay tuned for updates.

Our House...In the Middle of Our Street

>> Monday, July 21, 2008

Success!  We are so excited.  Our closing date is August 5th.  If all goes well, we'll be moving in to our new house exactly two months to the day from when we moved out of our old house in Colorado.

Here are the details...
  • Quiet cul-de-sac street
  • Split-level plan
  • 5 bedrooms
  • 3.5 baths
  • 2 family rooms (1 unfinished)
  • Laundry chute (!)
  • Lots of storage space
  • Fenced yard
  • A/C
  • Nice deck (BBQ anyone? :o)
Give us a few weeks to get settled in and then the party is at our house!

In a People House

Boxes.are.evil.

So.is.moving.

If you can't tell, I'm still unpacking. It's been less than swift thanks to daily upkeep, taking care of kids and "help" from my four little helpers (or non-helpers as the case may be). :)

Also, I'm seriously lacking in the motivation department. I start with great intentions and then fizzle out rather quickly. I've unpacked and found homes for the basics. It's just the piles in the garage of who knows what that I'm avoiding. I've been here 5 weeks and haven't needed any of it, I should just get rid of it, right? That's a lovely theory. I don't think I'll be abiding by it though. So it's back to the box hades...

In the meantime, here are a few pictures of the main part of our home. And the bare walls? Yeah. I haven't hung anything up yet either!
