Susans Batik Butterflys

Susan was my Partner in this group for May and her request was Butterfly blocks in Batik fabrics.  I was keen to do these for her, as I am practicing my new Foundation piecing skills. 

I did find these surprisingly easy to make, partially because the batik fabric does not have a right or wrong side (or at least I couldn't tell if it did), so there were less mistakes for me = less unpicking. Susan they will be fluttering to you this week

Jolanda's parcel inspected by customs!!

I received my lovely blocks from Jolanda this week, but the parcel had been opened by Australian Quarantine as there was something inside that may have been suspicious! Luckily it was all taped up again and everything was OK. I think it was those locally grown teabags that must have sent the sniffer dogs into a frenzy!!

Anyway, everything arrived safely and I'm enjoying a cup of the tea right now!

May partners sent out

Hi Ladies

I have just finished sending out the swap partners for May, please make contact with your member before you start to make the block to confirm preferences. 

Just a note that I will be away on holidays from early to mid June - off to the lovely warm Thailand with 3 days (shopping ) in Bangkok and then 10 relaxing days spent in the sun in Phuket.  I will have the ipad with me and will be accessible on hot mail, and the blog but not necessarily checking this everyday.  (not sure at this stage how good the Internet access will be).  It also means that the June partners will be sent out a few days later after I arrive home

We have 19 members now, with 18 swapping this month, so numbers are increasing in this fun sized block swap.  Now.. Hi Ho Hi Ho, off to the sewing machine I go. 

From Leena to Monica

Just posted Monica's (of Glanbury,Tx) 6" Blocks. She requested any blocks using 'civil war fabrics'. 

 

My fabric bundle (ordered on-line) took about 2 weeks to arrive.

 

I Posted the blocks as soon as they were made as I know, it will take about 2 weeeks to get there too!! Hopefully, the blocks will be well worth her wait.
