Altered wooden painter`s palette by Heike`s AugenBlick

 Hello everyone,

and welcome to my design team work.

I am Heike from Heike`s AugenBlick and I am your host for today.

I hope you had a beautiful Christmas time with lots of lovely memories.

Our Christmas time was quiet, Jörgen my handsome hubby had  to work in the hospital.

So we only had the Christmas Eve lunch with three of our four kids.

I enjoyed the time we had together. It is so sad that the time for Christmas music is also over.

I love Christmas music and one of my favorite songs is:

"Walking in the air"

"Walking in the air" is  a song from Howard Blake created for the 1982 animated UK Christmas special "The Snowman" based on the book by Raymond Briggs. The song was sung by choirboy Peter Auty.

The song has become a kind of Christmas standard in the United Kingdom,

as the animated special has become prominent in British culture airing annually similar to

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" in the US.

Here is a short lyric from the song.

Walking in the air

We `re walking in the air.

We`re flooting in the moonlit sky.

The pepole far below

Are sleeping as we fly

I`m holding very tight

I`m finding I can fly

So high above with you....

Here is a link to the song:

(1) Peter Auty - Walking In The Air - YouTube

But any way:

I created for you an altered mixed media project, more precisely

a wooden painter`s palette.

A closer look:

My focal point photo is with clear embossing powder covered. I also used the little palette opening as frame for another photo which I covered with clear embossing powder also.

A short description about my background steps:

I started on my wooden painter`s palette with a layer of black gesso. After my black gesso was dry

I cut a paper-sheet from the sunrise paper collection and I glued this

to my wooden palette with gel medium.

I protected my paper with a layer of clear gesso.

After that I cut a piece  of the travel the world transparency folie and I glued this with gel medium on my wooden palette.

After that I have added lots of texture with multipurpose medium, crackle glaze,

modeling paste and a stencil, powertex balls and 3D powders. I let the hole thing dry overnight.

My photo image shows the wet texture on my wooden palette.

My color choice for this project was quite dark and vintage looking.

That means Color Glow powders in dark blue and brown with gold and bras should

be the main colors on my wooden painter`s paltette.

Hot Chocolate Scrapbook Layout by Heike`s AugenBlick

  Hello 13@rts fans,

I am Heike from Heike`s AugenBlick and I am your host for today.

I hope you are well and you enjoy the Autumn season.

I created for you a scrapbook layout of course in mixed media style, with my thoughts on the

festive month of December. I love hot chocolate with wipped cream, so yummy.

For me this drink is part of feel good in the cold months.

Here is my favorite recipe for hot chocolate:

You need:

 250ml milk,

 a pinch cinnamon,

 a teaspoon of brown sugar

and 45gram dark chocolate (broken into small pieces).

Heat three teaspoons of milk with the rest of the ingredients until a creamy substance is formed.

Then add the rest of the milk. Fill the hot chocolate in a cup.

Finish touch: wipped cream, mini marshmellows and a pinch cinnamon. Cheers!!

My title of course is called:

Hot chocolate

How I start my layout:
When I start a scrapbook layout in mixed media design, I usually start with the embellishments.
In my case it was the cut-out paper of the Bella paper collection.
After that I go on the search for a suitable photo and background paper. My favorite free photo site is "Pixabay".
Then I start with a so-called raw design: I put the photo and my embellishments (without glue) on my background paper. Then I search again for more decoration products and embellishments.
After that I decide about my color combination, my 3D effect mediums and the use of stencil and stamps.
If I am happy with my so called raw-design, I start with the fun part of my design. First adding of clear gesso on both sites of my background paper. I let my background paper air dry. In the mean time
I paint and color my embellishments.
This is how I start my scrapbook layout in mixed media style.

A closer look:

For my layers behind the photo I always use the A6 paper packs.
Perfect also for DIE cutting ( Doiley in the left corner behind my photo)

Here is a perfect closer look to the new glas nugget from 13@rts.
I glued the glas nugget on the dier images from the new ART book from 13@rts.

DIE cutting with the A6 Victoriana paper and finishing touch with embossingpowder.
Underneath a piece of the Bella transparency.

Each new paper collection comes with a cut-out paper sheet.
Sometimes I have the feeling with the cut-out paper elements that I have to change the colors a bit so that they fit better to my design. Therefore I mostly use watercolor and for the finishing touch
I use Color Glow.

I used from 13@rt

Papier-Wonder-of-nature-DREAMLAND background paper sheet.

Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout "Beautiful" by Heike`s AugenBlick

 Hello my dear blog reader,

Heike here from Heike`s AugenBlick , and I am your blog host for today.

Finally my favorite season of year started, I am so happy.

October,  the start of the fall season.

Alexander Smith`s quote circumscribes the new month perfectly:

"In the entire circle of the year there are no days so delightful as those

of a fine October".

The smell of baked apple with marzipan, hot chocolate and pumpkin soup is filling my house.

Soon the shelves will be filled with the first Christmas candy and first Christmas decoration.

So exciting!!!

But anyway, I have for you a scrapbook layout in mixed media style.

I created my page on the new paper collection Bella and Sunrise.

What I really love is to combine different paper collections.

For this page I was also inspired by the October challenge Mood Board.

Please look at the sidebar for the current challenge from 13@rts

Beautiful...

A closer look:

Here is a short description of my background.

I like to create with two strongly competing colors.

In my case on the page the dark blue paper from the Sunrise paper collection and the

light gray/ white Bella paper collection.

I torn the Sunrise paper and glued on the Bella paper, after that I added two layers

of clear Gesso.

My idea was that the dark side should get texture and the light side should stay flat.

So I added under the transparency a layer gel medium to one of the new stencils of 13@rts

and I covered the gel medium with two different embossing powders from WOW.

I let the whole thing dry overnight.

On the next day, I started with melting the embossing powder

and adding the first color layer. My color choice was burnt sienna chalk spray from 13@rts.

I added it with a plastic pipette, this is my favorite tool for adding spray color.

I applied the spray three times, always drying between the layers, for a wonderful result.

After that I added black gesso, stamp images, big black numbers and scribbeling.

Now my background was done and I started with glueing the transparency and my focale point.

I used from 13@rts:

Scrapbook Layout by Heike`s AugenBlick

 Hello 13@rts fans,

Heike here from Heike`s AugenBlick.

and I am your host here on the blog from 13@rts.

You know already the new paper collection from 13@rts is now worldwide available.

I have chosen for my inspiration the wonderful "Sunrise" paper collection and a photo

from my beautiful husband.

The photo is a little bit overexposed because I took it with the mobile phone.

But anyway...

I choose for my title one of the cardstock words from 13@rts which I colored

with pastel grey spray.

LOVE

He is my Mr. Right, even after so many years he can turn my world upside down.

I still have butterflies when I see him and I wish nothing more than to have time

on this earth with him for as long as possible.

A closer look.

I used for my background the beautiful butterfly stencil.

First I mixed gel medium with color glow and I added this mix to the stencil.
I sprinkled embossing powder on the wet mixture. After that I melted the embossing powder with the heat tool.
Then I added multipurpose medium with the brush insite the wings from the butterfly stencil image.
After that I sprinkled light blue colored grit in the wet paste. I let the whole thing dry overnight.
The next day I added glitter ink, gold mist and another color glow color to my stencil image.
I really love the texture. I repeated the steps with the little butterfly stencil image on my background.

Mixed Media Layout by Heike`s AugenBlick

Hello everyone,

Heike here from Heike`s AugenBlick and I have today the pleasure to inspire you to work with the wonderful products of 13@rts.

The summer has arrived here in The Netherlands with days around 25 degrees Celsius.
Wonderful to sit in the garden and enjoy the nature.
I got a beautiful hammock with wooden stand from my handsome hubby.
Now I have to be careful that I don't just lie in the hammock and read.
Living is so beautiful if you know how to enjoy it. But anyway..

"FAVORITE"...
is my Steampunk inspired mixed media layout with a photo of my son Joshua.

A closer look.

Background steps on my page:
I started my mixed media layout on two sheets of paper called: Rosefield and the clock.
My first step was adding two layers of clear gesso. After everything was dry very well, I added a layer of a mix from acrylic medium, color glow topaz and rainbow color navy blue to my background.
The left over mix was for the chipboard decoration and for splatters. I decided to play along with the stencil dance of gears and a mix of multipurpose gel and color glow calcite. I dryed my background over night. The next day I started with painting around the gears with orange rainbow color and vivid orange. After the color was dry I added gold glitter to the gears and also to the blue colored chipboards. My last step on my background was adding black gesso with texture powder.
Now it was time for my focal point.

Timeless Scrapbook Layout by Heike`sAugenBlick

Hello friends from 13@rts,

I am Heike and I am your host for today.

Now we have the month of May. What luck do we have with this spring weather.
We spend many hours in our garden, which now shines so wonderfully in the green spring color.
And the first BBQ we have already passed.
But anyway.
I have for you as inspiration a scrapbook layout with a photo of my youngest daughter Mia.

How I start my creative process.
1. I started with two layers of clear gesso from 13arts. This clear gesso layer allows me to work with liquid products so as watercolor.
2. My second step is then always the selecting of my photo. I prefer black and white photo images.
3. Then I decide to put together my color-theme. Here I let myself be guided by my feelings of my mood of the day.
4. For a success on my craft tabel, I like to create with nature- relax music or classic music. A good cup of tea next to me.
That is what I love to do before I start with creating.

I used from 13arts:

I hope you feel a little bit inspired to create with the beautiful products of 13@rts.

The circle of time...Dt member post by Heike`sAugenBlick

Hello 13@rts friends,

Heike here from Heike`sAugenBlick.

Today I would like to inspire you to make something beautiful with the wonderful products of

13@rts.

My two youngest children have tried the new photo camera of my son and made a photoshoot. Because they wanted to make me happy and they know how much I appreciate it to get photos of my loved ones.
They had sunshine, but the wind was cold. Which has not deterred them. If you look at the photo you can also see that they had a lot of fun.

Live your Life...

This time I decided to work on a dark background. The paper collection of "Victoriana" has a wonderful design in black with white writing.
Paper:

First I started with a layer of Gesso:

I always use the gesso on both sides of my paper. This prevents my paper from rolling up. I give at least two layers of the gesso on my paper. What I really love from the 13@rts gesso is that the consistency of the gesso is absolutley smooth.

A closer look.

I also used from 13@rts:
