Currently Inspired By: Chevy Malibu Style

While inspiration can come in many forms like celebrities, magazines and television, I've realized that there are so many other ways to get your creativity flowing. Places like the park or the beach, a sunset or sunrise, a great meal or cool decor (like these twinkling lights I snapped while in NYC) can offer a fresh and fun take on fashion.

Take for instance the new Chevy Malibu. I know what you're thinking - inspiration from a car? I was had the same thoughts until I literally watched every single one of these Issac Mizrahi videos. Seeing Issac drive around the country, meeting normal everyday women and talking about Smart Choices really turned my thinking around. I'm definitely not one to shy away from bold and unique styles so I think that's what I was instantly attracted to the new and improved Malibu. Trust me, this isn't your typical/run-of-the-mill Chevy....

I've collected a number of photos on my Pinterest Board that capture just how sophisticated this new model is. For example, the colors are soooo rad. They're mostly an icy cool metallic palette with a few bursts of red and black thrown in. My favorite hue - the White Diamond color. It's got a slight shimmering sparkle to it (hellooooo! This isn't Bedazzles After Dark for nothing!) which is something I love adding to my everyday look via a shoe or statement necklace. Also, the new Malibu has these amazing ice blue interior lights that illuminate the entire dashboard, as well as the doors, at night.

When I saw Issac showing them to Violette I starting gushing to Bill "I want those!" Super cool! It makes me want to insert Ice Blue anything into my wardrobe - maybe through a scarf for the upcoming cooler temperatures. I'm also digging all the silver-tones throughout the insides and the actual outer body of the car. Very monochromatic and perfect for fall - can't you just see yourself in head to toe gray tones? I can - it's one color everyone can pull off.

One thing that Issac said that really stuck with me? "Smart Choices never compromise your style" How true is that? When you love what you're doing, wearing, seeing or eating - it just makes your confidence that much brighter.

So take a look at the all new Chevy Malibu - and let me know what inspires you. Comment below or send me a tweet with the #MalibuStyle hashtag! Happy Monday everyone!

Currently Inspired By: Neon Color!

Bright neon colors aren't just for cheesy bar signs or 80's nostalgia parties anymore. Riding hot on the coattails of last Spring's color trend (here & here), this season we're seeing a much bolder version of these shades. Everything from beauty products, to clothing to jewelry (even hair color) are being drenched in these fun hues. If you follow me on Facebook or Pinterest you know how much I am obsessing over neon right now - especially since I'm such a color lover! And I plan on taking every opportunity to rock this look while it's still in. Although it's a very fine line between tasteful and overkill with neon, I've picked out some photo inspiration for incorporating it into your wardrobe. Have fun lovelies!!

Get on the neon denim train while you can! There are plenty of on-trend stores that carry bright colors for even better prices. Try Forever 21, Target (yes Target!), Zara and H&M. I would recommend a white tee and blazer or if you're feeling adventuresome - color block!

You can't go wrong with a handful of neon - one of the easiest ways to add a little spark to your look! I suggest sticking to one shade rather than multiple, but this should at least give you inspiration on what kind of colors to look for (adore that green!)

Neon even looks good on a maxi....

... Or short like this neon number. Keep your accessories basic and you'll be a total knockout (80's hair not required!)

I've been looking for a fabulous neon statement necklace to go with my basic white tee and jean cutoffs for summertime. Someone suggested a DIY with neon nail polish and old costume jewelry - how smart!!

Neon Oreos!! So pretty to look at & Yummy to eat!

Look Of The Day: Elizabeth Banks in Canary Yellow Bill Blass

It's official my friends! Canary Yellow is the new color of the season! I've been spotting it everywhere and trying to figure out how I can incorporate it into my own wardrobe. So imagine my delight when I came across a serious gush-worthy look that's pure inspiration for a glamorous yellow ensemble (did you ever think you'd hear those words?) Elizabeth Banks, who stars in the new Twilight Hunger Games series showed up to the London premiere looking like a ray of sunshine - literally. Her glittering canary Bill Blass column gown brought a shining burst of color to the movie premiere's red carpet. I'm sure all eyes were on her, this dress and all it's sequined glory. And the back... I mean, seriously! You know how much I obsess over a good open back dress! So lovely. I wish I had that dress hanging in my tiny closet or better yet on my body right now! Additionally, I adore the quirky yellow Judith Leiber clutch she chose to pair it with. A soft tousled updo and some sparkling Irene Neuwirth earrings top it all off. E Banks - you are PERFECTION! Happy Friday my loves!!

Currently Inspired By: Emerald Green

Green With Envy

Sorry for the lack of posts - our household has been a bit crazier than normal! But I couldn't resist sharing my latest obsession - Emerald Green! Celebs have been showing up everywhere wearing glittering green gowns, enchanting emerald jewels and color-blocked choices in this fabulous hue. I, for one, am completely obsessed with this trend! And though I've yet to find a shimmering Gwyneth or Zoe "Steal Her Look For Less" option, I have started small:

Zoya "Ivanka" Nail Polish
How perfect is this Zoya glitter green nail polish?! I'm so in love with it! Now on to the perfect glittering column gown... Happy Thursday everyone! xoxo

Currently Inspired By: Seeing Spots

Seeing Spots

I'm totally obsessing over polka dots right now! The key to this trend is picking pieces that are in basic colors and toning them down with menswear separates or leather items. A bow here and there or a tiny bit of lace trim is extremely feminine and lovely. But anymore "sweet" details than that and it's veering into age in-appropriate territory. Try a tough leather jacket or a pair of slimming black pants. As a beauty bonus, do a strong lip and tons of mascara. Whatever you choose... have fun! Happy Wednesday! xoxo

Currently Inspired By: Kate Hudson in Nine

Whenever we head to Palm Springs we usually spend the weekend lounging by the pool, biking around town, eating delicious food and laughing constantly with Steve & Dana (our gracious hosts). It's so fabulous. And the music... Oh the music! It's constantly flowing all day (and night) long. I seriously love it. One of the songs that kept popping up was the Kate Hudson version of "Cinema Italiano" from the theatrical movie Nine. We actually just recently watched the movie and while it was a little hit or miss my absolute favorite part was actually Kate Hudson's sex kitten character Stephanie.

The chain smoking, blond haired, fashion journalist (of course!) with kohl rimmed eyes Stephanie, embodied everything that I love from this era. Her description of why American women love Italy still stands true (maybe I'm partial - but I doubt it...) And it was pretty amazing how much Goldie she was channeling for this role. Ah-mazing. But what really had me was her musical number. It was definitely, by far, the best one from the movie. The men in the suits, the black & white, the dancing. It's seriously phenomenal. For the past week I haven't been able to stop thinking about fringe, cat eye sunglasses and thigh high boots. I love being inspired by different periods of time or movies or even old magazine photographs. Anything from the past can really be worked into your everyday wardrobe - you just have to find a way to tweak it to work for you. For instance to modernize this look I would
