Clinique Superbalanced Silk Foundation

Clinique  adds to their Superbalanced Foundation line with new Superbalanced Silk Foundation , a nice addition to an already solid foundation selection.

Superbalanced Silk differs from the original in that it has SPF( 15) and is for dry combination to oily , where the other wasn't recommended for oily skins and is semi matte .

The coverage here is  medium-full and slightly buildable. It feels good on skin, lightweight, soft and looks good on, covering light spots and perfecting. This is supposed to be long wear and it lives up to that.  I got all day wear into the evening aside from T Zone oil. It looked  quite good at 6PM after an 8AM application.

It is semi- matte, but less matte than I expected and does allow oil breakthrough in the T Zone a bit quicker than I like and overall a slightly dewy finish. I feel like this isn't a good pick for those who are truly oily but combo and slightly dry should do great with it. Come Winter when my oil slows up a bit this will go into the foundation rotation  and I think it will work well. Right now my skin is in oil overdrive.

The SPF 15 is both chemical and physical and it has very little fragrance.  Shade shown is 02 Silk Shell which is pretty light ( the 2nd lightest color) , a bit more so than it's reading in my images.

Clinique Superbalanced Silk Foundation  is $ 25 and comes in 20 shades.

Clinique Mineral Sunscreen For Face & Body

Clinique was my first high end sunscreen a couple decades or more back. Anyone remember their clear gel  in the brand's traditional green color tube they had ? It was very good back then and Clinique may have been one of the first makeup brands to have their own sunscreen.

There have been a few iterations since and this season they have launched Mineral Sunscreens for Face and Body. These are broad spectrum with titanium and zinc oxides and what Clinique calls " Invisible Shield Technology" to protect against UVA and UVB.

The Face SPF is a thin liquid that has no fragrance . It's not tacky or sticky and will work for all skin types including oily as it has no heaviness or residue. It's also listed as being friendly to sensitive skin . Just rub it in, and apply makeup , primer or use as is.

The Body SPF is a thicker formula that has an immediate whitish caste that disappears once rubbed in. It too, has no fragrance and a light feel on with no residue or tackiness or fragrance.

Clinique SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen Fluid for Face, $26.00
Clinique SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Fluid for Face, $26.00
Clinique SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen Fluid for Body, $32.00

Clinique Sun Kissed Face Gelee

The sun is really shining today and tomorrow will be 80 so I'm thinking about my pale self and getting a little color. Baking in the sun isn't the best option, we all know that ,so makeup gives us a little help.

If you want to go a route other than powders , a liquid bronzer can be the answer. I generally like them and this new one from Clinique is easy to use and gives a nice bit of color but isn't super dark or orange-y.

New Sun Kissed Face Gelee is a lightweight gel that you can use alone or add to makeup. Clinique says it works best mixed in foundation but I used  right on skin and was happy with the results.  In foundation it can deepen a lighter shade just a little and give you a glow. Alone it adds that same slightly bronzed glow.

There isn't much shimmer in this and it is sheer, blending out pretty easy. It's also oil free and has no moisture. It's meant to add glow and color, not moisture.

Clinique Sun Kissed Face Gelee is $ 26.50

Clinique Super City Block BB Cushion Compact SPF 50

In time for warmer weather  and Summer comes new Clinique's new City Block BB Cushion Compact .

This is a BB but has more coverage than many BBs I use but less than a full foundation.  Clinique calls it a fluid foundation. It's sheer, light and feels weightless on with light to medium buildable  coverage. It's more than barely there but not quite all the way to medium. Your skin shows through but is perfected some, smoothed and it gives a semi matte finish that is lightly hydrating.

I love the feel of this. It goes on with a cool touch and blends right in. For days when I want lighter coverage it's great on it's own , but I also top it off with a mineral powder or stick foundation for more coverage . They mix well and give me almost full coverage.  The SPF of 50 is great too,  and a nod to the brand's long popular City Block Face Protector but with a higher SPF. It did well at oil control so far ( it said to be both sweat and humidity resistant). The best test will be when the heat really sets in but overall I think it will hold up.

We'll call this new release a win-win.  It has a lot going for it and the portability of the compact for all our Summer fun makes it even better.

I did not get an ingredient list but Clinique does say it has antioxidants along with physical SPF.

Clinique Super City Block BB Cushion Compact SPF 50 is $ 35 and will be available later this month. Shade shown is 01 Fair which goes on a bit lighter than the compact would have you think.

Clinique Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam

Clinique cleansers always have a place in the beauty pantheon. Most of us have used or are using one .  Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam is the next one out.

This mild, soft foaming cleanser is meant especially for sensitive skins and uses caffeine and sucrose to prevent dryness, salicylic acid to combat sebum and glycerin, algae extract and hyaluronic acid  for moisture. It's also sulfate free.

Also new is a Extra Gentle Cleansing Brush Head for their sonic cleansing brush.

You can find both at Clinique counters and online in March.

Clinique Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam is $ 20

Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream

The first thing that grabs you with the new Clinique eye cream is the packaging. It's called Pep Start and that bright orange color sure is peppy. It's like the eye companion to Happy.

The cream itself is a lightweight formula  that sinks in pretty quickly, making it great for AM use and under makeup. It's also meant to help brighten eyes and de -puff with a blend of peptides and a cooling tip applicator.

I found this gave me good moisture for the morning, I don't want anything too heavy then and it felt good on the eye area. As for brightening , that I didn't see as much but I have only used it for a few days.  As a morning eye cream I like it but if you are looking for serious treatment this won't be it . I think of this as a great starter eye cream for someone young or again, perfect for mornings. It can be used over makeup as well for a top up.

Note, to use  you pull the tip out before squeezing the tube. I admit it took me awhile to get that. My sample came sans box so no directions. Hopefully you'll fare better .

Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream is $ 26.50

Clinique Chubby In The Nude Foundation Stick

I love, love stick foundations and find them harder to come by. I wish more brands would make them. Clinique has got the idea and has a new Chubby Stick Foundation- Chubby In The Nude.

Sticks make applying foundation so much quicker. I literally cut minutes off my time using this in the AM.  Plus they are portable for touch ups later.

The coverage with Chubby In The Nude is light, but not sheer on me, more light /medium. I was surprised the coverage was that good as Clinique says it is sheer. I like more coverage and this went on fine .  My skin looked good- covered , polished but not heavily done.

The foundation itself is a little hard , it's not as creamy as you might expect a stick to be. It goes on well enough but there isn't much blending you can do. Once you warm it up with fingertips you can do some. A brush works well with it, better than fingers.

The finish is slightly satin/dewy but it held back shine well except on my nose. It's not  a moisturizing formula but not matte either and is oil free. The wear time was good , all day and by the end of the day it still was pretty well in place.

Chubby In The Nude  comes in 10 shades. Shown is Intense Ivory which is  little deeper than  I think an Ivory is.  It's the second lightest shade so if you are very pale go with Abundant Alabaster.

Clinique Chubby In The Nude Foundation Stick is $ 24 .

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Powder Foundation & Concealer

The liquid version of Beyond Perfecting Foundation is a great one. It has super coverage and really perfects the face.  For anyone who wants full, great looking coverage I highly rec it. New is a coordinating powder compact makeup with the same name.

Beyond Perfecting Powder Foundation & Concealer comes in a compact with a sponge applicator tucked in it's own compartment. The coverage with this is less than the liquid version but still close to full coverage with a little building.  One swipe with the sponge is more medium coverage .

This is a very dry powder yet it doesn't look cakey or overly dry on skin . It does leave skin looking a little flat, not as radiant as the liquid . As a full , on it's own foundation, I'm still on the fence with this and I love powder foundations.  As a touch up, to go over any areas during the day that wear or fade , it's great.

You do get good wear time with this and it also stands up well to oil and hot temps. So for oily skin types , it's worth checking out and will help skin look it's best all day.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Powder Foundation & Concealer is $ 27

Clinique Skinny Sticks Eyeliners

Chubby works well for lips and cheeks but what about liner? Well that's where skinny comes in.

After a hugely successful run of Chubby Sticks , new from Clinique are Skinny Stick eyeliners. These self sharpening liners are super skinny for easy , tight to the line application with long wear time.

They are fairly creamy but do have a bit of drag  and I went over the line twice to get the fullest color payoff I wanted.

For getting a quick tight line whether at the waterline or above you can't beat the size of this liner . The super skinny size makes them a great travel companion as well. You could stash multiples in a bag without taking up any room.

Shown is Olive -Tini  and there are eight colorful shades in all.

Clinique Skinny Sticks are $16.50

Clinique Pop Lipstick + Primer

Lip color that lives up to it's name , these new lipsticks from Clinique bring the full color pigment .

Pop Lipsticks are  deeply pigmented new lip colors from Clinique that have  built in primer.  They have a satin finish and are nicely hydrating. They feel light but creamy on lips and had about 3 hours wear time on me.

The added primer gives these a  smooth ,even finish as you apply. I can't say that wear time was any longer than most lipsticks though.   These are easily a one coat and go lipstick and with castor seed and lanolin oils along with shea butter this a formula that glides on lips yet isn't thin or glossy .

There are 16 shades from light to dark  . Shown are Cherry Pop, Beige Pop and Sweet Pop .

Clinique  Pop Lipstick and Primer are $ 18 each.

Clinique Acne Solutions BB Cream

BB Creams for us oily gals are thin on the ground. Things are staring to look up though,  with Clinique adding a BB to their fab Acne Solutions line.

Their Acne Solutions Foundation has been a longtime favorite of mine. In Summer when sweat and oil are at full tilt it does a great job.  I am very happy  to see a BB come along .

Acne Solutions BB Cream is a thin liquid , not a cream like we are used to seeing. A little goes a long way and it comes out of the bottle fast.  It has light coverage that is slightly buildable and does a great job of perfecting skin while feeling barely there .  It's matte but not super dry matte.

It also helps keep oil down, I needed less touch ups during the day and it helped keep my foundation wear much longer.  This is just what I needed now that it's warmer out.

The SPF is 40 using both chemical and physical sunscreens. Another bonus for the oily skinned  is the SPF. I have a hard time keeping SPF topped up in the Summer and  don't want anything greasy on.

Shade shown is light-medium. I am pretty pale and this is fine on me. A smidge darker than my skintone  right now, but it blends right in and with foundation it's even better.  It does come in five shades

Clinique Acne Solutions BB Cream is $ 37 at  Sephora .

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation

Ready for another addition to all the new foundation launches we've seen in the past few months? There have been a lot of good ones but Clinique's new Beyond Perfecting may  well be the best of them.

Beyond Perfecting is described as a concealer and foundation in one. Concealer, there's a step we'd all like to skip , right ?

With it's full coverage , this foundation delivers on concealing and perfecting. This is truly full coverage , but has a lightweight, comfortable feel on skin. It covers and blends well for a soft matte finish that's, to me, more semi matte.  It's not flat, cakey or heavy.

There is a sponge applicator in the bottle and that can touched on spots etc or just swiped on for you to blend in. The formula is thicker , but again doesn't feel that way on.  What you get is skin that is perfected, soft, has a little glow ( but no shine/gleam ) . The wear time is long  ,  with oil spots like the T Zone being pretty well controlled . Clinique says this adds hydration where needed and absorbs excess  oil where needed with " dual sphere particles " .

I love a good full coverage foundation and there was quite a  difference when I used this on one side of my face vs. the other with  a lighter coverage one. The lighter ( medium basically)  coverage one being one that I generally thinks looks quite good.

Clinique is usually good with sampling, so if you're looking for a great new foundation, I'd hit up the counter and check it out.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation is $ 27 at  Sephora and department stores.  ( Shade shown is Creamwhip) .

Clinique Foaming Sonic Facial Soap

Love your Clinique Sonic Cleansing Brush ?  Now you can have a cleanser made just for use with it.

Clinique's new Foaming Sonic Facial Soap is a cream/mousse like formula that not only cleanses but adds moisture . It' a heavy  but gentle cleanser and you don't need a  lot.  The cleansing agent is derived from Coconut Oil, glycerin is there for  moisture and caffeine and sucrose help with calming skin.

This did a solid job of cleansing, as advertised. I do think it might too hydrating for oilier skins though. After use my currently normal to oily skin was soft and I felt as if I didn't even need much in the way of moisturizer.  This would also be great for use on it's own if you don't have a sonic brush.

Clinque  Foaming Sonic Facial Soap is $ 19.50

You can take a kook at my post on the Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush here .
