Winners for Challenge #313 - Supersonic Stars

Stars seem to us to be fixed in their position in the sky, but they are all actually moving in space, as is our star, the Sun! In the outer edges of our Milky Way galaxy, some stars reach velocities more than 700,000 mph (1.1 million km/h)! So you could really say they are Supersonic Stars! Some of you are Supersonic Stars as well, making stunning creations in under 10 minutes! Well done!

So here are the Supersonic Stars, the winners for this challenge!

We have a tie for Top Pick:

Our first Top Pick is: LeAnne Pugliese

top pick 1

LeAnne absolutely crushed this speed stamping challenge by using a star stencil with a little Crushed Curry ink and, in just five and a half minutes, a star was born! She even stamped a sentiment on the inside in that time! Wow! Congratulations, LeAnne! This little beauty even has star sequins to add a bit of bling to it!

Our second Top Pick is: Birgit

top pick 2

Although Birgit's card is more complex, it also took almost twice as long to make. Without any commentary by the creator, we are assuming that Birgit used mostly die cuts to make her beautiful birthday card, with the vibrant colours. It is an eye catcher for sure. and Birgit had to have had a very organized plan for her card in order to have finished in nine and a half minutes! We love the end result, though, and gave it one of the two top picks!

Our Featured Artist is: Jolanda Johnstone

featured artist

Jolanda used stars embossed in white, trees and sentiment embossed in black and a spectrum of pink to blue ink blended over the images and sentiment to create a winter night scene reminiscent of the Northern Lights. It can be difficult to do a good job of ink blending and especially when you have a time limit. Jolanda not only completed the creative assignment on time, but she also created an atmosphere of peace, silence and awe...probably the opposite of what she was feeling as she participated in our speed stamping challenge!! Congratulations on being our Featured Artist this week, Jolanda!

And we think you may want to check out the following Honorable Mentions on their sites:

8. Jennie Maier

9. Yvon Doensen

Congratulations to our winners and thanks to everyone who played along! Our winners today can pick up their badges on this page and display them with pride on their blogs or sites. Although this was our last challenge for 2023, we will be back on January 5th, 2024 with a whole new roster of challenges for the new year! See you then, and in the meantime, we want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and thank you all for participating in our challenges throughout 2023!

Challenge #313 - Supersonic Stars

For this challenge we are doing a Speed Stamping Challenge and the theme for the challenge, created by the lovely Deborah, is Stars! To get your adrenaline pumping, create a card or other project, in under 10 minutes, that illustrates the seasonal theme of stars! Please let us know how long it took you to make it in your description.

When we do a speed challenge we are not expecting a detailed masterpiece from you. We want you to have fun and see what you can create in under 10 minutes! You can design it in your head or sketch it out first. You can gather all your supplies ahead of time. But once you start the cutting/stamping/die cutting/embossing /etc. process, you must start the timer!

Let us know, with your entry, how long it took you to complete your card or project! The key is to KISS!! Keep It Simple, Stamper!

Here are some guidelines for the challenge:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging project that fits the challenge.
  • You can come up with your design and gather materials before you start the clock, but once you start work, you have to complete your design in 10 min. State in your blog or description, how long it took you to make it.
  • Use the given theme in your project.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSI313 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines.
  • You can combine our challenge with up to 3 other compatible challenges.
  • We do reserve the right to delete, or not consider, entries that do not comply with these guidelines.
