Challenge #340 - Pesky Resolutions

January is the time for making and, yes, breaking, New Year's resolutions. Do you make resolutions about your crafting activities? What are they this year? Thanks to Team member Heather H, we have a Fill-In-The-Blank Challenge this week asking all about them! Take a look at our Challenge Banner:

challenge #340

For a Fill-In-The-Blank challenge, the idea is to finish the sentence by filling in the blank, and then make a card or project based on the words you used to fill in the blanks. Then, let us know, in your blog or post, how you finished the sentence.

Let's see what our Design Team are resolving to do this year:

  • Stampin' Up! colours are used for reference but any matching colours are welcome. You can use black/neutral for outlines and sentiments but don’t use any other colours. Make sure you use all the colours in the challenge banner. Neutrals include black, white, vanilla, Crumb Cake.
  • Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we can send you lots of feedback. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use AYSI #334 when uploading to a public gallery.
  • You can combine our challenge with up to 3 other compatible challenges.*
  • We do reserve the right to delete, or not consider, entries that do not comply with these guidelines.*

We're excited to announce the winners of Challenge #339 because the Featured Artist will be our Guest Designer for the next Recipe Challenge in two weeks! Those Winter Frost colours were so pretty to play with! Your entries were unique and artistic and very hard to choose winners from!

Here are the winners for this challenge:

Our Top Pick is: Amanda Mertz

Amanda made great use of the challenge colours! The brighter ones create a great floral focal point, while the more subdued grays give a soothing background. The Design Team really liked the script circle stamped in Smoky Slate for a background design, and the way the sentiment was embossed in white on the basic gray banner for the way it showed up! Congratulations, Amanda!

Our Featured Artist is: Michele Ferguson

As Featured Artist this week, Michele will also be invited to be our next Guest Designer! She has made the most beautifully coloured gardenia with our challenge colours! Her colouring skill is amazing! On the white background with the lattice work and the layer of soft gray leaves, the flower has so much depth that our Design Team was blown away! Congratulations, Michele, you will be our next Guest Designer for our Recipe Challenge in 2 weeks time. We will be in touch!

Challenge #339 - Winter Frost

Happy New Year and welcome back to As You See It Challenges! We are starting the new year off with a colour challenge and, therefore, with a chance to be chosen as a guest designer for our next recipe challenge in about 4 weeks! What a great way to begin 2025! The colours for this challenge were inspired by a frosty photo found by yours truly, Heather C., and they give you a very soft and pretty palette to play with! I can hardly wait to see what you come up with!  Here's your challenge banner:

challenge #339

For Colour Challenge, we want you to use all four colours, and only those colours with the exception of a neutral and white. Neutrals can be black, vanilla or crumb cake. If you don't have the Stampin' Up! colours listed, use colours you have that are closest to them.
The Featured Artist and winner of this challenge will be given an opportunity to work with us as our guest designer in an up-coming Recipe Challenge, so keep that in mind when you enter!

Now let's see how the Design Team put this palette to work:

Amanda created a beautiful spring-like birthday card with our sketch, The Design Team loved the birthday cake focal point and the creative banners that made up the horizontal elements in the sketch!  Along with the lovely wild flowers that embellish the card, the font on the sentiment was just one more element that made this creation one that is fit for Top Pick! Congratulations, Amanda!

Our winning entry, Julia Sager, the Featured Artist, has created a card both festive and elegant! The Design Team loved the classic colour palette of red, green and gold, the embossed background, and the creative horizontal elements. Those embossing dies created very compelling poinsettias for this seasonal display. Congratulations on being our Featured Artist, Julia!
